Hi, If a person suffering from ankylosing spondylitis then his spine will definitely fused after a long time duration.
Yes it does (bamboo spine appearance along with ligament calcification). Early or late depends on the severity of disease, lifestyle and activity level of patient.

Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Physiotherapy usually helps any way take paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days you will need other supportive medicines also. It may have to be further investigated you must have x rays of your ankle & feet done. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take.

I am suffering from knee pain continuously but I am 21 years old. Is this serious at this age?

I am suffering from knee pain continuously but I am 21 years old. Is this serious at this age?
Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain.

I am 23 years old. I am suffering with spinal cord injury (c4 fracture) since 2010 now I almost recovered but my left foot is dropped and knee hyperextension. Please help me what I do?

Master of Physiotherapy, Bachelor in Physiotherapy
Physiotherapist, Guwahati
Hi lybrate-user thank you for giving me an opportunity to answer your question. Weak hamstrings are usually the reasons when it comes to knee hyperextension, however a weak gastrocnemius (calf) can be a big factor too since it passes over the knee joint as well. Considering the foot drop you have I would say the calf is probably a bigger issue than your hamstrings. If your quadriceps is weak on that side you would have to lock out your knee by hyperextending it. Do strengthening exercises for hyperextended knee. Eg. Straight leg raise. Quarter squats, forward stepups etc exercises. Foot drop can wear ankle foot orthotics for some time and do electrical stimulation to strengthen those muscles. Regards.

> Change your grip position to avoid an acute bend at the wrist. > Wrist wraps can help in the short term, but it's better to strengthen your wrists. The way to improve your wrists isn’t by doing more heavy lifts. Instead, work the small muscles around the wrist that provide support. > Do wrist stretches for improving flexibility: Go for Prayer stretches, Wrist flexor stretch and Wrist extensor stretch. Drop a feedback if you find it useful.
