I have a problem in my teeth about cavity so please tell me the solution about this. Is there any medical treatment for this.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
•If your cavity in the tooth is caused by decay, your dentist will remove the decayed area and replace it with a filling. •If the pulp inside your tooth is infected, you may need root canal treatment. This procedure involves removing the infected pulp and then inserting a special type of filling to seal the tooth and prevent re-infection.

Gingivitis is a mild form of gum disease which occurs because of the inflammation of the gums. It can easily be reversed with daily brushing and flossing and getting dental cleaning done regularly.

I am suffering from gum problem. When I drink cold water the gum fatten up in large size. Please say what to do.

- use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water or hydrogen peroxide to keep the area clean. Avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums. - eat a balanced diet and limit snacking between meals. Carbohydrates and sugars feed dental plaque. - try an oral irrigation device, commonly known as a" water pick, to clear debris from around the gum line. - you may need deep cleaning along with surgical curettage or gum strengthening procedure. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser..

My left side upper last tooth is half broken. I don't have any pain or difficulty in food chewing. Shall I go extradition of" half broken tooth"

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need artificial enamel filling or root canal treatment with a cap. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

Hi the main aim of rct is to remove all pulp and fill the vacant space left in canals by root canal filling material and to seal the apex (the end of root canal). So even if there is a broken instrument in the canal, if the apex of that canal is sealed by bypassing the canal, there is no chance of pain or inflammation. But if the canal is left untreated because apex is not reachable due to blockage by broken file, then the vacant space left is a source of bacterial infection and can cause trouble in the future. The tooth has to be kept in observation. It may not lead to cancer but in some cases, open apex can lead to cyst formation. In that case, the root is sectioned and filling done from apex side to seal it. This procedure is called apicoectomy. Or last resort, tooth is removed.

I have sugar fast 200 posts 270, I am suffering from toothache, I consulted doctor, Dr. Said after sugar control he will remove teeth what to do suggest.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

Root canal axis opening can be done to get instantaneous relief from pain, if the tooth is firm with enough tooth structure. High blood sugar levels has got nothing to do with root canal treatment procedures. However it matters for extraction of root stumps. Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may consult me in person. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush.

Kind of toothbrush to be used by adults:       We recommend a brush with soft bristles which helps in removing the plaque and debris thoroughly from the mouth.

There is no such way to whiten your teeth other than bleaching. There can be little change if you use home bleach. You can ask me privately about it.

I am getting recurring mouth ulcers from months. Help me to get rid of this. Thank You:)

BDS
Dentist, Delhi
Hi lybrate-user, a mouth ulcer is a painful sore inside the mouth, on the tongue, soft palate (the back portion of the roof of your mouth), or inside the cheeks. Sores in your mouth are round, white, or grey in color, with a red edge or border. The condition is usually becomes okay within 7 days. But if it persists beyond that, or if multiple ulcers keep re-appearing, medical advice must be taken. In severe mouth ulcer attacks, you may also experience fever and physical sluggishness. Taking vitamin b12 supplements along with a suitable gel for pain is the best remedy.

If you have pain, you should take pain killer, also if the tooth aches upon taking anything cold, start using colgate sensitive t/p, also get it checked by a dentist for checking the progress of a carious lesion.
