I can understand that its tough to do your daily chores living with pain. Try changing your posture when sitting for long periods, take a break and do stretching exercises when sitting for long time. Also hot and cold fermentation can help. Back pain and leg pain can be due to many causes. Hope you feel better.

First of all check your posture when you are lifting any material like heavy bucket . And try to lift the heavy bucket without bending your back . you may lift the bucket after bending your knees only. This will definitely help you. * Gentle massage with lukewarm mustard oil of your waist area will also give you relief. * Surya Namaskar is only exercise which you need to do. * In diet vegetable protein of cereal , B complex supplements and half teaspoon of haldi in a cup of milk for seven days will give you enough relief.

I am having ankylosing spondylitis, and gyming is my hobby but for concerning both these I had to take pain killers (indocap 75sr and ultracet)? now I am little worrying about their side effects. Please suggest. And please tell about any new remedies for ankylosing?

Orthopedist, Delhi
Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. Ankylosing spondylitis is a chronic inflammatory joint disease which has a genetic predisposition. Since this is a genetically linked disease hence as of now there is no permanent cure for it, but new intravenous medications are available which help in disease control. You need a very active lifestyle with intensive regular physical therapy, take adequate calcium and vitamin d supplementation you also need to be in touch of a rheumatologist as it needs a long term supervised care. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You can also discuss your case and treatment plans with me in a greater detail in a private consultation.

Exercises for cervicogenic headache hi dear, I hope you will fitt and fine The following exercises are commonly prescribed to patients with this condition. You should discuss the suitability of these exercises with your physiotherapist prior to beginning them. Generally, they should be performed 2 – 5 times daily and only provided they do not cause or increase symptoms. Your physiotherapist can advise when it is appropriate to begin the initial exercises and eventually progress to the intermediate and advanced exercises. As a general rule, addition of exercises or progression to more advanced exercises should take place provided there is no increase in symptoms. ________________________________________ Initial Exercises Chin Tucks Begin this exercise by sitting or standing tall with your back and neck straight, shoulders should be back slightly. Tuck your chin in as far as you can go without pain and provided you feel no more than a mild to moderate stretch (figure 4). Keep your eyes and nose facing forwards during the movement. Hold for 2 seconds and repeat 10 times provided there is no increase in symptoms. Repeat 3 – 5 times daily Shoulder Blade Squeezes Begin this exercise by sitting or standing tall with your back straight. Squeeze your shoulder blades together as hard and far as possible pain-free (figure 5). Hold for 5 seconds and repeat 10 times provided there is no increase in symptoms. Repeat 3 – 5 times daily. (N. B In some cases it may be beneficial to perform this exercise every 1 or 2 hours provided the exercise does not cause or increase symptoms) Some of the most commonly recommended products by physiotherapists to hasten healing and speed recovery in patients with this condition include: 1.Postural Supports To enjoy a long and healthy life 2.Therapeutic Pillows 3.Ice Packs and Heat Packs 4.Lumbar Rolls (for sitting) 5.Sports Tape (for postural taping) 6.McKenzie Treat Your Own Neck Book 7.Foam Rollers 8.Massage Balls (for self massage) 9.TENS Machines (for pain relief) Lower back pain you can do it this exercise, 1 Lying on your back, bend your right knee into your chest and place a strap or rolled-up towel around the ball of your foot. Straighten your leg toward the ceiling. Press out through both heels. If the lower back feels strained, bend the left knee and place the foot on the ground. Hold for 3-5 minutes and then switch to the left let for 3-5 minutes. 2….Lying on your back, bend your knees into your chest and bring your arms out at a T. As you exhale lower your knees to ground on the right. Keep both shoulders pressing down firmly. If the left shoulder lifts, lower your knees further away from the right arm. Core stability and its importance.
Are you in your 30s or 40s and frequently experience frequent neck, back or shoulder pain? do you feel tired easily or feel weak inspite of a regular routine of jogging? may your core is to blame for that.
Core muscles of the body include the shoulder, chest, back and pelic muscles. A strong core is quintessential requirement for mainting a fit and healthy body.
Poor core strength leads to poor posture, frequent neck, shoulder and back pain and easy fatiguability in performing physical tasks.
Thus if you want to avoids such health problems you should incorporate some form of core strenghthening exercises. Choose from a mix of swimming, plank, burpee, superman exercises (u can google what these exercises and u'l find plenty of links) in addition to your routine jogging/walkingetc. U'l see plenty of youtube videos on core strengthening.
A strong core leads to a strong and fit body. Happy exercising.

I am having a problem in my right foot. It's paining from last 6 months. What should I do?
One of the main causes of foot pain is wearing shoes that do not fit properly. You can also develop foot pain if you are injured during high-impact exercise or sport activities, such as jogging or intense aerobics. There are a few general tips that can help relieve your discomfort. These include: 1. Applying ice to the affected area 2. Taking an over-the-counter pain reliever 3. Using foot pads to prevent rubbing on the affected area 3. Keeping the foot that is causing you pain elevated 4. Resting your foot as much as possible you can take many measures to help prevent ongoing foot pain. For example: 1. Choose comfortable, roomy, and well-cushioned shoes 2. Avoid shoes with large heels and narrow toe areas 3. Maintain a healthy weight 4. Stretch before engaging in vigorous exercise 5. Practice good foot hygiene 6. Always wear some type of footwear when outdoors to protect your feet. Please consult a physiotherapist nearby to find out the root cause and to apply physiotherapy modalities and exercises to reduce your pain. Best wishes.
