I have hypothyroid. I am told to take medicine (50 mcg) empty stomach in the morning and do not eat at least for further 45 min. But I have to eat within half an hour after waking up. So will it affect my health?

You must delay breakfast as much as possible after taking thyroid medicine. It helps the medicine to have a better effect. If not 45 mins, 30 mins should be good enough.

Hello there. Your sugar levels are well controlled. The medicines you have mentioned are not for diabetes but for cholesterol and nerve problems respectively. Cholesterol medicines are usually taken lifelong while nerve medicines are to be taken if required. Ie. If you are having symptoms like tingling, burning in your feet.

Surgery is must if the problem is severe as it may give rise to recurrent urine infections. It does not matter if he's taking insulin or tablets. His sugar levels should be controlled before going for surgery.

There could be other causes of your symptoms. It could even be a blood supply issue. You will need to be re evaluated for the symptoms. Curtailing smoking /tobacco/ alcohol if any will help.

My plan for you would be to reduce the power of the bp tablet prescribed and eventually stop it if the regular bp readings are less than 130/80. Regular physical activity and dietary changes can help to control the blood pressure.

It is common for sugar levels to be uncontrolled after such procedures. If he is on insulin, you need to discuss with his doctor regarding dose adjustments at home according to his sugar levels. Also, a common reason is that oral medications are changed/stopped during such procedures. You can ask his doctor regarding this and whether any tablets can be restarted.

My opinion would be to wait. Meanwhile, a salt restricted diet, avoidance of junk food, avoidance of smoking/tobacco, regular exercise and adequate sleep should be ensured. A regular monitoring of blood pressure is essential.

Considering his high levels of blood sugar and pressure associated with his symptoms, he needs to be evaluated further to rule out any heart issue. He may need to be hospitalised depending on initial examination.

Burning sensation could have many causes but in his case, its most likely due to uncontrolled or fluctuating sugar levels. It needs medications if severe, else one can wait till the sugar control is better.
