You need to undergo a number of investigations. Symptoms point to peptic ulcer, liver cirrhosis, gall stones, pancreatitis and ulcerative colitis. Your doctor will eliminate all these diseases one by one. But don't wait now. Black stools suggest that there is bleeding in your gut. This must be attended urgently. Please go to a multi-speciality hospital. And be prepared to spend money. All investigations are costly. Alternately you go to a government hospital.

Grey color material is probably smegma. Reddish thing that appears should be shown to dermatologists.

I am a 19 year old male. For about 4-5 days now, I've been having pain around my anus. The pain began after a rather intense bowel movement. Since the pain began, sitting, shifting position in bed, and many other simple movements bring moderate pain. Pain is made worse with a bowel movement and with an erection. Pain has been made better with exercise, a hot bath, or by passing gas. I would like to know possible conditions, the severity of each, and treatment.

MBBS, MS, DNB
Pediatrician, Delhi
You might be having fissure in ano. That is condition when there is anal mucosal tear when you pass hard stools and due to spasm of anal sphincter. Take some laxative at bedtime so you pass soft stool and continue with sitz bath. If pain persists go and see your surgeon.

. There may not be quick fix solutions. Try regularity in timing of meals. Consume more of high fibre containing foods, leafy vegetables, fruits preferably not peeled. Have a morning walk and light physical exercise. Intermittently try sat isabgul powder at bedtime (soaked in water for an hour or so at bedtime or liquid paraffin containing medicine 1- 2 teaspoon.

Why You Should Take Alcohol Blackouts More Seriously

MD - Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Delhi
Why You Should Take Alcohol Blackouts More Seriously

What happens to your brain when you get black out drunk?

Have you ever awoken after a night of drinking and were clueless about what happened or what you did? Or have you ever been drinking and found yourself in a strange location but had no clue as to how you got there? If any of these episodes of amnesia sounds familiar, then you have experienced an alcohol-induced blackout.

Blackouts occur when alcohol prevents the imprinting of memories from short-term memory to long-term memory.

According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, there are two different types of blackouts (memory loss) induced by alcohol.

  • The first is a partial blackout and it usually occurs after you consume a small amount of alcohol eg forgetting what topic you are talking about in the middle of a conversation. With a partial blackout, you may forget information that you know, like your address or phone number, or the names of people whom you know well. When someone offers a missing piece of information, your mind is able to recall what happened during a partial blackout.
  • The second type is called a complete alcohol blackout. You may physically be able to function and perform mental tasks but you aren’t your normal self. The ability to make decisions and judge actions is impaired during a blackout. Since you have little or no control over your emotions and impulses during this interval of time, your behavior can be wildly unpredictable. Blackouts can last for a few minutes or up to a week after drinking. During this episode, you are unable to retain any memory. When others try to fill in the blanks, you are completely unable to recall any information.

Blackouts are usually caused by heavy drinking on an empty stomach. Binge drinking (more than 5-6 drinks in a span of few hours) makes your blood alcohol levels rise too rapidly, thus producing a blackout.

Other things you should know about blackouts:

Women are much more susceptible because of differences in how men and women metabolize alcohol. Females also may be more susceptible than males to milder forms of alcohol-induced memory impairments, even when men and women consume comparable amounts of alcohol.

Hence binge alcohol consumption warrants early medical intervention before it leads to permanent memory impairment.

I am suffering from flatulence for since last 3weeks I am really fed up with this please helps.

I am suffering from flatulence for since last 3weeks I am really fed up with this please helps.
Home Remedies of flatulence: Avoid all types of fast food, non-vegetarian food and oily/spicy food. Take as much fruit as possible. This will help to increase alkaline in the body, neutralizing the acidity affects. Banana, Water Melon and cucumber are few recommended fruits which are proved helpful in acidity. Drink sufficient water (At least 3 ltr). Take water more frequently. Almond helps in quick control over heart burn. Whenever you feel like heart burn, take few pieces of Almonds. Jaggery (gur) is a proven home remedy for acidity. Put one piece in mouth and suck it slowly. Green coconut water is very helpful in acidity. Sleep sufficient. Do not work till late night. Fresh mint juice helps in reducing the side effects of acidity. You can have a glass of mint juice after food for a fast relief. Take a small piece of raw garlic; this is a very good digestive element. But don’t take overdose, or else it will have negative effect on acidity.

I feel so week and fall down on road and feel exhausted I am working women pls advise ...
It needs to be known whether the blood sugar levels quoted by you are with the dose of glycomet or without it. If these levels are without medicine on the day of test, then with medicine there is a possibility of further lowering of sugar levels causing hypoglycaemia. That may be the reason behind your falling on the road and feeling of exhaustion. You may consult privately with details of your reports.

You are suffering from constipation. 14-20% of indian population is suffering from constipation and related problems. Everyday physical activity like brisk walking/ jogging will keep your bowel active. Eat more of dietary fibres, leafy veg, fruits and plenty of liquids. Try to remove stress. Try to maintain periodic defecation everyday for gud bowel habits.

Hello doctor, I am using mirtazapine from past 1 year for IBS-C. Now my course is about to stop as I am feeling good. Now I am using mirtazapine 7.5 (60 mg- 45 mg-30 mg-15 mg-7.5 mg) from last month. In 15 days I have to stop the medicine. But now I am getting constipation and severe headaches with gastric disturbances. My question is" Is it medicine withdrawn side effects or do I need to increase my dose again? Please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Hello doctor,
I am using mirtazapine from past 1 year for IBS-C. Now my course is about to stop as I am feeling good....
Hi. In my opinion mirtazapine is an antidepressant. It may or may not help in IBS. I never prescribe it for IBS. Your symptoms as you told may be related to drug withdrawal. Regarding stopping the drug you should consult the doctor who advised it. For IBS I can help you with few medications and lifestyle changes. Avoid unnecessary stress and anxiety. Sleep properly, drink adequate water. Avoid spicy oily and outside food. No smoking/alcohol/tobacco etc. Eat more of green vegetables and fruits. Avoid heavy dinner. For medications you can consult me online. Thanks.

The abdominal organs in right upper part of tummy are Liver and Gall bladder. Swełling in the region may cause pain. Evaluation by a surgeon, Sonography examination may easily find out the reason for this particular pain.
