Why do you think both as opposite task.We can gain muscles with proteins and simultaneously while reducing fats or in the other words we can build our body along with losing body weight.Myself is a homoeopath and by following my below given diet plan you can surely do so. It is not a good idea of Increasing intake of junk foods and fatty foods to gain weight. You should be eating calorie dense yet nutritious food. Your calorie intake should come from foods that are healthy for you. The weight gaining diet should include high protein foods, high carbohydrate foods and healthy fats. Include these in your diet. Breakfast: Banana and milk or banana shake or smoothie, whole-grain toast, fruits, nuts. Eat more fruit and drink less juice. Do not take milk mixed with ghee . It is not healthy. Lunch: Roti or chapatti or wholegrain bread, rice, green vegetables, paneer, dal, chole recipe, black-eyed beans (lobia), rajma, whole wheat pudding (dalia), etc Dinner: Similar to lunch In-between meals:: fruit, sandwich, yogurt (curd), milk, cheese, salad Avoid deep fried snacks like samosa (samosa recipe), pakodas, bhujia etc. Avoid fast foods 1. Protein is the key for the muscle building. Without adequate protein, muscle gain and growth is not possible because weight training demands for amino acids (which comes from protein). You should daily eat about 2.2g of protein per kilogram of your weight. For example, if you are 50kg , then you should eat 50x2.2=111g of protein spread over 5-6 meals in the day. Include high protein foods in your diet. Your protein intake should be from foods rather than from supplements. Good protein foods: beans,soybeans, whey, fish, dairy products (low fat variety), meats, nuts and seeds (almonds, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds), peanut butter. Many of these are easy digestible foods. Milk is one of the best muscle foods. The milk contains two high quality proteins, about 80 percent whey and 20 percent casein. Whey is quickly broken down into amino acids and absorbed into the bloodstream. Whey is very good to consume after workout. Casein is digested more slowly and provides the body with a steady supply of protein for a longer period of time. Cheese is concentrated milk, so it is high in protein and calcium, fat and cholesterol. Include healthy skim yogurt in your diet, which can give you as much as 120 calories. 2. Eat custard apple (Saripa, Sitaphal) to put on some weight. This fruit is high in calorie. 3. Healthy fats: Avoid fatty foods. Most mothers, especially in India give too much ghee or butter to their children, thinking they will put flesh fast. But ghee is mostly saturated fat which is not a healthy fat for any body. Healthy fats are monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats and omega-3 fatty acids. Good fats: cold pressed oils (olive, sunflower, linseed, canola ). 4. Drink pure fruit juice. It is full of sugar and added nutrients so it is a healthy and nutritious way to gain some pounds. 5. Complex carbohydrates are also needed for gaining weight.. Corn bread is also full of carbohydrates, one piece gives approximately 328 calories. Potatoes are rich sources of carbohydrates and complex sugars, eat baked or as grilled potatoes. Pasta is a calorie rich cereal carbohydrates. 6. Eat bananas. These are rich in carbs and nutritious, one banana contains approximately 100 calories. 7. Some people think that drinking beer helps, but it is not true, it accumulates in your abdomen, making it fatty. 8. Don't take protein supplements for gaining muscles. Consult your doctor for protein supplements. 9. Non Vegetarian Foods Some of the non-vegetarian foods that help increase weight are given below: 1. Red Meat lean ground beef, lean steaks. 2. Pork, ham, lamb 3. Fish: Eat two portions of salmon, cod, or tuna every day. 4. Shrimps: The nutrients and necessary acid content present in shrimps gives healthy calories. 5. Turkey 6. Chicken breast Chicken breast, is supposed to be the healthiest and non-fat part which has approximately 78 calories for each serving. 7. Whole eggs: Eggs are loaded with protein, vitamins A,D and E.

At your age this claim is serious. If you have depression then there are some major ramifications to take into account. I believe there may be some genetic predisposition or there has been some childhood issue, related to anger, that needs urgent attention. You must go and meet with a counselor immediately and if that person advises that you meet with a doctor you must do so and cooperate to your utmost. Please visit these professionals along with your parents. In the meantime please do the following sincerely because you could resolve the problem better with good cooperation: Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber, nuts, avocado, exercise regularly, eat dark chocolate, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. I suggest you do the opposite of what this depression makes you feel like doing (actually, not doing): you will need to fight this condition. You must become active; stay upright during the daylight time; meet people; never sleep during the day, wake up by 6 am every day, play some active games, especially contact games, do physical exercises, talk to people and join some social clubs, attend Yoga classes etc. Watch sitcoms on TV or comedies and cheer yourself up. Go for excursions in groups, for outings, camps, conferences, and religious conventions. Get a pet dog and spend time training it, exercising it and relating to it. Expose yourself to some sunlight every day, at least, 30 minutes but not in the scorching heat. Whatever happens, please incorporate these three important adaptations in your life: always be responsible, be respectful, and be functional. If you did these three, lots of things will go well in life. Please pray and have faith in God to alleviate your sufferings. Don’t wait for others to help. Use your own motivation, which might be at its lowest, but persevere and win this battle. Above all to be really happy, you need to live in love and for love. Learn all about emotions and how to handle them and that will get you out of the depression rather easily and quickly. A counselor is there only to facilitate you, all the hard word must come from you, and your cooperation with that person is very critical for your success. Be positive every day and learn to be contented with what you have. Do some left brain exercises: it is the happy brain. Here are a few suggestions: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. Whatever happens please cooperate with the therapy and do not discontinue until the condition is completely resolved.

Mr Mukund, Primary thing is blood sugars should be in excellent control like fasting close to 100 mg and PP around 150 to 160 mg and HbA1c%<7. Then you may think of taking certain drugs like PDE-5 inhibitors.

Eat plenty of green leafy vegetables and lots of fruits. Also use herbal shampoo, use shampoo only twicea week. Proper adequate nutrition is very important for hair, also adeq. Sleep for 5-6 hrs is also equally imp. Reduce your stress levels.

I have tsh -9.14 and t3, t4 or normal. I asked to have thyronorm 75mg evry day in the morning. So I started having the tabs since 15 days. Before having tabs my periods were regular. But now I was delayed on period. So do the tablets delays the period or is this a symbol of of pregnancy. Im tensed a lot, please confirm me. I got my last period on march 4, where I supposed to get my period on April 02, but till today I dint have my period.

Hello, high tosh indicates hypothyroidism and hence thyroxine has been rightly started. It should not affect your menses rather should regularise them, the present delay is likely to be stress induced provided pregnancy is ruled out.

I am a 35 year old male 6ft, 80 kgs. I have been smoking an average of 5 cigarettes per day for last 20 years. My health was good until 5 years back, my mother expired due to cardiac arrest, at home and in front of my eyes. I was very attached to my mother and could not handle the trauma. Everyday post that day, I used to blank out and felt racing heartbeats, and a feeling of getting passed out. Everyday my father used to take me to hospital in emergency wherein doctors would do ecg and echo too of a couple of occasions. Everyone suggested that trauma was the reason behind all this feeling. I resumed office after a couple of weeks and tried to forget the issue. After about 6 months, I was driving back from office when I felt an urgency to pass urine which I did. 15 minutes later I felt palpitations and again an urge to ease out. For the remaining portion of my journey I kept on urinating every 5-10 minutes and my hands, face and feet started tingling. By the time I pulled up at a nursing home, my whole body was shaking vigorously. When I entered doctor' s cabin, my hands, feet and tongue started twisting and I was barely able to speak anything. Doctor injected something in my arm post which I was fine in 5 min. He told me that this is panic attack. After that day I had been feeling tingling in my hands, feet and face on a daily basis along with palpitations and frequent urination. I have consulted numerous cardiologists, gastro experts, general physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, and the list is unending. Although with my latest treatment, things are in control and I do not face the panic attacks daily, but that feeling of tingling does not go away, coupled with the persistent fear of dying. I want to regain the same mental and physical self confidence that I had before my mother' s death. Please help.

Your mother? s death has left a huge vacuum in your life, and that has triggered the panic attack. The smoking would have contributed to the poor response to stress and trauma. The tingling is probably the effect of this long period of smoking. You need to develop you physical constitution and your emotional fitness. The smoking has to go. These panic attacks are nothing but an exaggeration of your response to normal stimulus. The death you witnessed of your mother has to be wiped out of your memory banks through some therapy. Also, I suspect that your attachment to your mother may border on some unhealthy symbiosis with her. You were 30 years that that time and I think that you should have been able to handle that situation better. Now, I don? t want you to get the notion that her death was to be taken lightly or that it was easy. Relatively speaking, a person of your age could have handled it better. However, it is the closeness that you had with her that made you vulnerable. So you need to deal with that in counseling. Further to develop emotional fitness, you must work on, your fear in particular, and learn to express it and reach out from it. You are having daily trauma and reactions of self-induced heart attack-like symptoms and you cannot live like this except by some extensive counseling. You will be surprised how quickly and effectively these symptoms will disappear, if you cooperate and go for therapy. The mind is very powerful and together with unexpressed emotions can play havoc with your life and system. After seeking the doctor? s permission, I suggest that you get into a healthy regimen of exercise, good diet, and proper sleep; and perhaps settle down in marriage. This latter will help generally, and not as a solution to your problem.

Get your Thyroid Function Tests and FBS & PPBS checked in a good lab. 1. Take less energy, spend more. Therefore, eat less, exercise more. 2. Eat less of sugars, starches and fat and more of proteins, fiber, vitamins and minerals. This means, fill your stomach with salads like raw carrots, turnip, cucumber, tomatoes and plenty of boiled seasonal vegetables etc. And less-sweet fruits like guava, papaya, apples, pears, oranges etc. Avoid cold drinks also. 3. Do regular physical exercise like brisk walk, cycling, swimming, KAPAAL BHAARTI and MANDOOK AASAN. Tell me after two weeks.

I got right side inflammatory sacroiliitis. Can I do weight lifting? I do not experience any pain after excessive walking or weight lifting (I do it at home). But I want some professional trainer. Plus I got HLA-B27 ve but doctors say that I do not yet have spondylitis spondylitis after reading my blood tests, MRI and X-Rays.

Hello lybrate user, the condition what you are talking about is known as sero-negative arthritis. It is a systemic arthritis involving many joints in the body. It includes about 4 to 5 different clinical disorders and the joints involved would depend on the particular condition that affects you. Not all patients with hla-b 27 are affected by these conditions but the risk of developing the disorder is quite high. You have said that you already have inflammatory sacroilitis, so you probably are at an increased risk. I would suggest you to continue light gymnasium activities enough for you to stay fit rather than heavy gymming which can put stresses on the inflamed joints and lead to quicker arthritis. I would also suggest you to consult a physiotherapist to maintain fully functional joints through different exercises. Hope this helps.
