Ways To Prevent Skin Problems In Youngsters!

Ways To Prevent Skin Problems In Youngsters!

Skin is made up of 3 layers namely, epidermis, dermis and subcutaneous tissue. When the water content of the outermost layer of the epidermis is insufficient, your skin tends to lose elasticity and feel rough.

Here are some of the skin issues that youngsters face and ways to prevent them:

  1. Acne: Whether it is blackheads, whiteheads or spots filled with pus, acne affects about 80% of teenagers at some point in their lives. Teenagers are more prone to this problem because the hormone levels during this time are especially high, resulting in an increase in the magnitude of sebaceous glands and the oil that is produced. When too much oil is produced, this, along with dead skin cells block, the follicles, giving rise to acne. There are certain ways in which you can prevent it from occurring, such as always having a bath after any strenuous activity, not picking or touching the problem areas and washing acne-prone spots only two times a day.
  2. Oily Skin: Oily skin is a very common occurrence during teenage years. To a certain extent, oily skin may be due to genetics but for some, it may be due to hormonal changes that cause excess oil to be produced on the skin surface. In order to not inflame the skin further, individuals with oily skin shouldn't overly scrub their skin as well as not use harsh cleansers to clean the face. More importantly, when you do use a cleanser on your face, you should only do so two times a day. If you go overboard, it would only do more harm than good.
  3. Excessive Sweating: Excessive sweating is another major cause of concern for teenagers. The problem can be due to two different conditions - stress or hyperhidrosis (a condition wherein you sweat excessively on a daily basis). Wearing clothes made from cotton, using antiperspirants as well as avoiding drinks and foods that may cause episodes of excessive sweating are some of the ways in which you can keep the problem in control. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Dermatologist.

You should start home made remedies for oily skin. One example is multani mitti+rose water face pack. Also do not scrub on skin. Do not use any cream except sunscreen. Before going to bed cleanse your skin with cleansing milk. Do not take spicy hot food. Take more green leafy vegetables.

Can bleaching face skin in salon can help in getting rid of my 9 years old dark and deep chickenpox scars?

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
Can bleaching face skin in salon can help in getting rid of my 9 years old dark and deep chickenpox scars?
No, it won't help. You may use contractubex gel. Massage it 2-3 times daily and then apply silastic sheet over them and keep it that way for atleast 18 hours a day. Gradually you will see an improvement. If the scars are raised above the skin surface, then intralesional injections of triamnicolone also help a lot. You may see a dermatologist/plastic surgeon personally for that. You have to do the treatment for several months before you start seeing improvement. Thanks.

Hair Transplant - How Long Does It Last?

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)

Hair Transplant - How Long Does It Last?

Hair fall and baldness were once associated mainly with signs of aging. However, increased exposure to chemicals, pollutants, and UV radiation has made hair fall a common problem faced by people of all ages. The good news is that this condition can be addressed and your self image does not need to take a fall. In a hair transplant procedure, the doctor will harvest hair from one part of the scalp and transplant it to the bald or thinning sections while you are under local anesthesia.

This can be done in two ways; follicular unit extraction and follicular unit transplant. The difference between the two lies in how the hair follicles are extracted. In the follicular unit extraction procedure, hair follicles are individually plucked from all over the scalp. On the other hand, the follicular unit transplant procedure involves cutting out a section of tissue with hair follicles on it from one part of the scalp, usually the back of the head, and then dividing it into individual grafts. In both types of hair transplant procedures, these harvested grafts are then individually transplanted into the bald areas. To do this, tiny incisions or slits are created in the scalp into which individual hair follicles are placed. As the new hair follicles get settled in, a few of them may fall out. This is nothing to worry about and new hair follicles will soon take their place. Some hair may also fall from the donor site. This is known as shock loss and is a temporary condition.

A typical hair transplant procedure can take up to 8 hours, but the results are well worth it. Its results are visible within a few weeks and depending on your hair’s growth rate, the new hair follicles will soon merge with the rest of your hair. Transplanted hair rarely falls off and hence this is a permanent solution to bald spots and thinning hair. These hair follicles grow in the same way as the rest of your hair and in time, there is no visible difference between the transplanted hair and the existing hair. Till date, there is no other procedure that can offer a permanent solution to bald spots and thinning hair. However, you should also know that a hair transplant procedure is not a cure for complete baldness. It also does not stop hair fall from other parts of the scalp. Hence, in some cases, follow-up procedures and touch ups may be required from time to time. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can ask a free question.

Hair is primarily made of protein and, therefore, it makes sense to eat a protein-rich diet if you’re trying to maintain your healthy hair. However, eating a steak every day isn’t going to help you. High-fat diets will result in increased testosterone levels, which has been linked to hair loss -- so steaks are not among the foods that prevent hair loss. Stick to leaner proteins such as fish (which has a myriad of health benefits beyond just maintaining your hair), chicken, calf’s liver, brewer’s yeast, low-fat cheese, eggs, almonds, beans, and yogurt. Soy milk and tofu are also smart to add to your diet because they are high in protein and low in bad fats.

Coconut milk is among the richest sources of tissue-nourishing, plant derivatives. Grind the grated coconut and squeeze it to remove its juice. Massaging coconut milk (juice) on the scalp can also help in the management of hair fall.

Hello, there can be many reasons behind it like *physical or emotional stress, inadequate protein intake, genetics, anemia, aging, hormonal changes, prolonged illness, deficiency of vitamin b6 and folic acid, thyroid diseases. *hair fall can also result when one indulges in too much dying, blow drying or use of hot curlers. *dandruff can also be great cause behind hair fall. Take homoeopathic medicines 1. Weisbaden 30 (4 drops in little water) every morning empty stomach only one dose in a day for 15 days. 2. Jobarandi q (10 drops in little water) twice a day for 15 days and update. Apply jobarandi hair oil. *make a habit of 8-10 glasses of water daily. *eat healthy and balanced food like pulses, green leafy vegetables, fresh fruits and nuts etc. *eggs as it is loaded with essential nutrients such as proteins, vitamin b12, iron, zinc and omega 6 fatty acids in large amount. *add more vitamin rich food to your diet. *avoid stress and anger. *cut down the use of hair spray, hair gel. *take a sound sleep. *avoid too much exposure of your hair to sunlight. *avoid hot hair styling tools, as they damage hair and cause split ends. *it is best not to comb the hair while it is wet as this leads to greater chances of hair breakage.

Homoeopathic medicine FORMULA-D TABS ( BAKSON ) Chew 1 tab 3 time a day for 1 month DERM-AID SOAP ( BAKSON) Use only thiss soap on body Do nd Donts 1. Exercise regularily 2.Take nutritious diet 3.Avoid application of cream nd lotions 4.Avoid dry fruits, nuts, chocklates, spicy nd fried food 1. Milk for Skin Lightening Milk is a rich source of calcium. Calcium, along with many important functions in our body, also regulates normal skin color. It does so by stimulating melanocytes, the skin cells that produces melanin pigment. Also, when you provide higher calcium content to the upper epidermis of your skin, you help maintain effective barrier against moisture loss. This prevents skin from going dry which can also affect your skin making it darker. Milk also contains lactic acid which reduces skin’s pigmentation making your skin lighter in complexion. Get this: • Milk (preferably cow’s or goat’s milk)- 1 bowl • Washcloth Do this: • Take the bowl of milk and warm it a little. You need just warm milk and not hot. • Soak your washcloth in this. • Take out the washcloth and wring it out to discard excessive milk. While the cloth should be fully soaked in milk, it should not drip. • Now gently rub your skin with this cloth. • Once the cloth gets dry, soak it again in the milk and repeat the process. • Repeat the cycle of dipping and rubbing for 3-4 times. • Do this daily, preferably after taking bath. • After a couple of weeks, you may do this twice a week instead of doing it daily. ________________________________________ 2. Yogurt for Skin Lightening Lactic acid is a known remedy for natural skin lightening. This acid is the most gentle alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs). Alpha hydroxy acids act as exfoliants by contributing in rapid shedding of dead skin cells on the surface. This leads to cell renewal which in turn removes dullness from your skin giving you a brightening effect. As a skin lightening agent, lactic acid helps bleach the hyperpigmented skin by suppressing the production of melanin. Therefore, using yogurt loaded with lactic acid, makes sense when it comes to skin lightening with natural remedies. Ways to use yogurt for skin lightening 1. Take some plain, unflavored and unsweetened, yogurt. Rub this gently on to your skin for a couple of minutes. Then leave the yogurt on your skin for another few minutes. Now wash off using lukewarm water. Repeat this daily. 2. Mix yogurt, lemon juice and oatmeal to get make a face mask. Apply this to your skin. Leave it there for 15-20 minutes before washing off with water. 3. Add 1-2 tsp of honey to 1 tablespoon of yogurt. Apply this to your skin. Leave it for 10-15 minutes. Wash off with water. Repeat daily.
