How can I loose my weight. Its nearly 100 kg. And I have thyroid. I have tried many things like gyming, yoga.
If your having thyroid your weight loss will be slow. For this you should do daily walking for at least 45 minutes. Have your meals 5-6 times a day which is low in carbohydrate like roti, brown rice, salads. Stop having raw cabbage, soy and soya product and do not have anything to eat for half an hour after taking your thyroid medicine.

Mr. Lybrate-user, tingling and numbness these are symptoms of diabetes causing peripheral neuropathy, not because of diabetes treatment. If the symptom is trouble some then get tested for presence of neuropathy and if need be take some drugs for that. Thanks for the question.

Diabetes, often referred to by doctors as diabetes mellitus, describes a group of metabolic diseases in which the person has high blood glucose (blood sugar), either because insulin production is inadequate, or because the body's cells do not respond properly to insulin, or both. It is a difficult task to control blood sugar in the desired normal range. Whatever we eat is metabolised to sugar in the body to provide energy for our daily activities. For the absolute control, one has to monitor his / her blood sugar at regular intervals (Self-Monitoring of Blood glucose – SMBG). Though difficult, this can be done by a glucometer and keep a record. Get an idea of Fasting sugar (FBS) and 2 hours after food (PPBS), & HbA1C (inform me) and check before dinner and after every major food. The basic idea is to reduce the food intake to 1/3 of what you take now. The dictum of sugar control is diet, exercise, diet + medicine and at later stage medicine+ Insulin will be needed. There are different diet plans of varying calories for each person depending on his activity & life style. For diabetes, hypertension (high BP) and many long-term illness control there is the need for regular advice and follow up. Just one time consultation or advice is not enough to guide a diabetic in scientifically & medically correct manner. For giving you regular follow up you ask me with all details like your daily eating pattern and medicines you take. I assure you a proper guidance. If you keep in touch personally. Hello, if diabetes is in control, then fasting should be closer to 100 mg and pp 150 to 160 mg and hba1c% <6.8. If you are fit and sugar levels are normal there is no need to feel any of these symptoms. If possible you should move away from the chair after each 30 minute period for about 2 - 3 minutes, that should reduce the strain. Stand up or just walk a few steps. Learn relaxing techniques and use them at the end of the day so as to relieve all the stress.

Can Yoga Really Impact on Fertility?

Can Yoga Really Impact on Fertility?

Can yoga really impact on fertility?

A researcher at Harvard Medical School conducted a study that took infertile women (those who had been trying to get pregnant for at least a year) and placed some of them onto a 10-week mind/body program that included yoga, meditation, nutrition, exercise and help to change negative thought patterns. 55% of participants conceived within the first 12 months, compared to 20% of women in a control group.

Yoga is thought to improve the general reproductive health of women trying to conceive by increasing the blood flow to the pelvis, toning and strengthening the muscles that support reproductive organs, improving spinal alignment, enabling better circulation and improving the capacity and quality of respiration. It can also be said that the most powerful effect of a regular yoga practice on a person’s fertility is through the calming, restorative effects on the mind and body.

One of the most pervasive mind/body fertility challenges for couples undertaking fertility treatment includes stress and feeling out of control. Stress hormones generate chemicals in the body that weaken immunity and suppress fertility hormones which may impair conception. Yoga, because of its use of relaxation and breathing techniques provides an antidote to the negative emotional and physical impacts of stress, anger and depression resulting from infertility or fertility treatments.

Although there is very little direct evidence to suggest practicing Yoga will guarantee pregnancy, the known benefits of inducing relaxation and reducing emotional and physical stresses can be a useful adjunct when undertaking fertility treatments.

I am a research scholar and sitting n working at lab in addition to having the hypothyroidism condition have made me obese and I am now 65 kgs. I was 52 kgs 8 years ago before my marriage and after the birth of my first child (wen the thyroid condition was diagnosed) and then after the second one (after a year) in 2011, is mainly the reason of the obesity. I am seriously in need of a proper diet plan or something relevant to decrease as much weight as possible and required for my age and height (4.11 feet). Please advice. Presently I am on 100 mcg dosage of Thyronorm tablet. Just to inform. I also have mild to moderate thrombocytopenia.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology

lybrate-user, If hypothyroidism is not controlled properly then weight gain continues. Having a job where one has to sit for long time and work, need not cause obesity, if one exercises adequately during rest of the time. So blaming the job is no good. You have added additional weight probably due uncontrolled hypothyroidism and inactivity plus diet. First thing is to bring TSH level down to 3 to 4 mU/L. Then start exercising for at least 1 hour a day and restrict dietary intake based on ideal body weight (49 kgs). Thanks.

Hi Jobin, I don't want to scare you but diabetic neuropathy should be taken very seriously. Please follow a very strict diet of low sodium and low sugar. So many diabetic diet plans are available. You can follow any. Increase your physical activity. Take Tab Unicorns forte. Once daily for one month. Keep a regular monitoring of your sugar level and if you have any query, do get back.

Hi I am 39 years old male and I am diabetic since 3-4 years. I consulted one local Ayurveda doctor for this but the medicine given by him didn't make any change. After 1-2 months of taking the medicine given by him I got erectile dis-function and as he spoke about erectile dis-function at me without any situation I suspect that because of his medicine I got the problem. I am doing physical exercise like walking everyday and away from sweets. Please suggest me a good medicine for diabetes and erectile dis-function.
