I am a thyroid patient. and my weight is continuously gaining. How can I control it.

CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology, MBBS
Endocrinologist,
lybrate-user, If you are on treatment with thyroxine tablets, then TSH should be maintained between 3 to 4 mU/L, then only all the symptoms are in check including weight gain. So please see that TSH is brought to that level. Plus take a restricted diet, taht gives exact calories based on ideal body weight (55 kgs) and do regular exercise for over 1 hour. Thanks.

increased insulin can lead to hypoglycaemia . it is generally accidental in diabetic pts. it leads to sweating, weakness, anxiety, hunger, blurring of vision, tingling around mouth, disorientation, confusion, seizure, unconsciousness, shock if not treated immediately. treatment is eating something sugary like fruit juice, glucose, biscuits, etc

Sugar average is 200. Suggest how to control with diet ?

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
Pediatrician,
Diet alone may not be sufficient you may need tablets and later perhaps insulin. Try eating 1/3 of what you eat now. Check your hba1c in a good lab and inform privately as you will need constant follow up advice.

Hi Diabetes patient can go for gym or not.?

JUNIOR RESIDENT OF DEPARTMENT OF MEDICINE, m.b.b.s
General Physician,
Yes. Moderate cardio will be preffered. But you have to have a close look on your diabetic profile like fasting glucose and hba1c level. This is only indicated if you are type2 diabetic patient. In case of type 1 or early onset it is discouraged. Diet and medications should be adjusted as per your diabetic profile. Heavy lifting work is always discouraged as it may precipitate hypoglycemic attacks. Visit nearest doctor for screening your profile and diet plan.

Dear Maam.....A patient cannot be called Diabetic unless her post-prandial blood sugar level is more than 200....Since your mother's post prandial blood sugar is 157, i would not advice her to take any medication.....she should take normal diet and eat everything......don't let the blood sugar level fall, otherwise it may lead to diabetic coma....Just let your mother to eat everything and check the blood sugar level every month

Nutrition is very important in managing diabetes. Not only what you eat, but how much you eat and when you eat influences your blood sugar. Meals should be at regular times with planned snacks. They should be low fat, high fiber foods with a limited amount of simple carbohydrates. Homoeopathc treatment is effective for controlling sugar levels.
