What must be a first aid for heart attack ?
If you think someone is having a heart attack, look for the four Ps: 1. Pain ? a continuous pain in the chest, which could spread to the jaw, neck or arms 2. Pale skin 3. Rapid and weak pulse 4. Perspiration/sweating What you need to do - Heart attack Call 999 or 112 for medical help and say you think someone is having a heart attack. Then, help move them into the most comfortable position. The best position is on the floor leaning against a wall with knees bent and head and shoulders supported. This should ease the pressure on their heart and stop them hurting themselves if they collapse. Give them a 300mg aspirin, if available and they're not allergic, and tell them to chew it slowly. Be aware that they may develop shock. Shock does not mean emotional shock, but is a life-threatening condition, which can be brought on by a heart attack. Keep checking their breathing, pulse and level of response. If they lose consciousness at any point, open their airway, check their breathing, and prepare to treat someone who has become unconscious. You may need to do CPR.

High triglycerides and cholesterol can cause atherosclerotic heart disease or narrowed coronary arteries in the heart can cause the symptoms of angina, when theheart muscle is not provided with enough oxygen to function. Decreased blood supply to the brain may be due to narrowed small arteries in the brain or because the larger carotidarteries in the neck may become blocked. This can result in a transient ischmic attack or stroke. Peripheral artery disease describes gradual narrowing of the arteries that supply the legs. During exercise , if the legs do not get enough blood supply, they can develop pain , called claudication . Other arteries in the body may also be affected by plaque buildup causing them to narrow, including the mesenteric arteries to the intestine and the renal arteries to the kidney. Change life style .do meditation, yoga, Go walk daily, do any one physically activity daily i.e.play any game., Avoid fast foods, oily foods, junk foods, alcohol, smoking, fatty foods, non-veg.,avoid stress, take plenty of water in day time. And 1 glass of water before bed at night. use flax oil, omega-3 fatty meal or cap., take .green veg., whole grain. Garlic,. Cod liver oil. Take anti cholesterol medicines . Cap. Knee advice. Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).

High sugar levels during pregnancy does not necessarily lead to diabetes after the baby is born. It is a natural tendency for the body to produce more sugar to feed the baby. But ofcourse, you have to take care. To reduce weight, dependency on medication and to remain healthy, it is necessary for you to adopt a very healthy lifestyle that includes adequate exercise, diet, relaxation techniques and positive care for you baby. Do not aim for 55 kg. Aim to have a healthy, flexible and strong body and mind.

Your blood pressure is upper limit of the normal. Follow life style modification like salt restricted diet, walking, weight reduction. Other than dizziness, if you have any complaints, or if dizziness is persistent or increasing, it needs to be investigated.

What Happens When the Electrical Activity of Your Heart Changes?

What Happens When the Electrical Activity of Your Heart Changes?

The heart's electrical conduction system plays a very important role in cardiovascular functioning. Also known as the atrioventricular (AV) conduction system, it regulates and controls the timing of the heartbeat.

How does the heart's electrical conduction system work?

There is a collection of electrical cells in the upper right atrium of the heart known as the sinoatrial (SA) node which acts as a natural pacemaker and generates electrical signals. These signals travel through specialized electrical pathways and stimulate the muscular walls of the heart to contract in a rhythmic manner. This gives rise to the heartbeat that pulses at a specific frequency every minute.

What is the effect of fluctuations in electrical activity on the heart?

The standard heart rate in human being ranges from 60 to 100 beats per minute. It slows down when a person sleeps and speeds up when one experiences physical or emotional heightening. These fluctuations are triggered by the brain or other systems of the body and signal the SA node to generate charges more rapidly or slowly. This leads to spikes and drops in the heart rate, depending on the nature of the situation.

What happens when there is dysfunction in the heart's electrical activity?

When the heart's electrical conduction system does not function properly, it leads to the occurrence of a condition known as arrhythmia or abnormal heart rhythm. This happens when electrical impulses are generated in an irregular manner and causes tachycardia (rapid heartbeats) or bradycardia (slow heartbeats) which takes place in jarring infrequent tempos.

What causes fluctuations in the heart's electrical activity?

There are various kinds of triggers that cause the heart rate to fluctuate. The exact nature of fluctuation also depends on the type of trigger. A few everyday examples of these causes are as follows:
- Exercise and strenuous physical activity increases electrical activity as the heart is required to beat faster so as to increase the supply of blood and oxygen to the muscles.
- Sleep and rest reduce heart rate as the body is not needed to exert itself.
- Release of adrenaline into the bloodstream causes the heart rate to spike up.

Two doctors told different %block in left ventricle need opinion for angioplasty.

Two doctors told different %block in left ventricle need opinion for angioplasty.
Dear Amrita, it seems you mean blockage on leftside arteries of heart. Its true that percentage of block assesed by visual inspection will vary if you show to different doctors. Its not exact. But whether its signoficant blockage or not can be told. For example 80% or 90% both will require angioplasty. If the block is in 50 to 70% range, or what we call as intermediate lesion, then we do a test called FFR, which will determine if a block needs angioplasty or can be managed medically. I hope your doctors might have explained in details. Thank you.

Smoking can lead to both lung diseases and lung cancers and heart attack, so you should not hesitate to quit a poison if you want to be healthy. Secondly meet a chest physical for a PFT and then a routine cardiological evaluation. Then do respiratory yoga daily.

Please ask doctor's to change medication. Make changes in your lifestyle to monitor your BP in the most natural way. Remember, increased BP is an un-natural occurrence. Only when our lifestyle is disturbed and we do incorrect things, the BP goes out of control. Medicines keep BP in check, but do not bring it to normal. Ideally, regulate Diet, exercise, mind control, proper hydration, rest and timely sleep and food These will surely help. Have a healthy diwali.
