Doctor sb there are some problem in my teeth like Bad breath so give me some advise that what should I do.
•Eat a healthy, balanced diet and avoid eating strongly flavoured or spicy food. •Cut down on sugary food and drink, as it can increase the amount of bacteria in your mouth. •Reduce your alcohol consumption. •Stop smoking. •Cut down on coffee. •Drink plenty of water to help prevent your mouth becoming dry. •Chew sugar-free gum after eating, to stimulate the flow of saliva. This will help clean away any remaining food particles. •Don't use toothpaste to clean your dentures, as it can scratch the surface and cause stains. •Clean your dentures thoroughly using soap and lukewarm water, denture cream or a denture-cleaning tablet. •Use a separate toothbrush to clean your dentures. •Make sure you visit your dentist for regular check-ups. Having regular dental check-ups will ensure that any plaque is removed from your teeth, particularly in areas that are difficult to reach. •Your dentist can recommend the best way to clean your teeth and gums, and point out areas you might be missing. They can also identify any signs of gum disease and ensure early treatment. •Gastritis, lung & sinus infection may also be the cause of bad smell in the mouth. 90% of bad breath is due to a dirty tongue. •If your bad breath is caused by a gastrointestinal problem, such as an H. Pylori infection or gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), you may be referred to a gastroenterologist. •Persistent bad breath or a bad taste in the mouth may be a warning sign of gum (periodontal) disease. Gum disease is caused by the buildup of plaque on teeth. •You may need deep cleaning & fill tooth cavities with artificial enamel filling. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash until then. Advance procedures can be done with laser too.

Dental Implants - 7 Reasons Why You Should Go for them

Dental Implants - 7 Reasons Why You Should Go for them

Dental implants are basically replacing your teeth roots. In dental implants anchors are used which are actually a cylindrical screw like object. This is put in your lower and upper jaw bones through surgery and they work like stable bases for artificially replaced teeth. (Learn how to Avoid Yellowing of Teeth)

Dental implants can be of many types and the types of implants vary on the method of surgery.

Some prominent types of dental implants are:

  1. Endosteal: In this method screws, blades or cylinders are surgically inserted in the jawbone. Every implant can hold one or more artificial teeth.

  2. Subperiosteal: Through this process, artificial teeth are on the top of a jawbone by a metal framework. People who cannot wear artificial dentures and have a short bone height prefer this method.

Dental implants come with many advantages, some of the advantages may include:

  1. Improved Appearance: Surgically implanted teeth feels like your own teeth, at the same time they also look better.

  2. Improved Speech: With badly fitted dentures (learn more about regular care for dentures) you have chances to slur or mumble your words but with dental implants, it is easier to speak.

  3. Improved Comforts: Dental implants are very comfortable; you will not find any difference with your own teeth.

  4. Comfortable Eating: As it feels like your own teeth, you find no difficulty whilst chewing, and you can always enjoy your favourite food.

  5. Improved Confidence: After dental implants, you will smile lot more than before and that will happen because of your regained self-esteem.

  6. Durability: Dental implants last many years and if you take good care then it can last for your lifetime. Sometimes people choose dental implants for its durability.

  7. Convenience: Although this process lasts for a very long time, you can replace it or change it anytime you feel like you are having any problem regarding it.

There are also some different processes through which dental implants can be done. It depends on your problems and needs.

Some processes may include:

  1. Replacing one single tooth: if your one tooth is missing then one crown and one implant would be enough.

  2. Replacing many teeth: if you are having problems with several teeth, then a full bridge of dentures can be used.

  3. Replacing all your teeth: if it is needed then all your teeth can be replaced.

  4. Sinus Augmentation: this one is a little difficult process, it helps to develop bones for dental implants. It also develops the quality of your bone.

Dental implants are very successful now. It is durable and good looking. After the implant the artificial teeth feels like your own teeth and it is very easy to handle.

Does bone grafting or guided tissue regeneration procedures need to undergo dental surgery

MDS - Periodontics
Dentist, Thane
Does bone grafting or guided tissue regeneration procedures need to undergo dental surgery
Not all dental procedures require guided tissue regeneration (gtr). It is only indicated when we need to grow bone or any other tissue if there is any defect present. Generally this is done in periodontal flap procedure. Guided bone regeneration is generally attempted when you have something called as" angular defect" or a" vertical defect" in the bone.

X ray of concerned tooth is very important to find out the exact cause. If its decayed then rct and crown may be the possible solution or if its just due to food lodgement in gums then scaling (cleaning) and proper oral hygiene maintenance methods and proper brushing technique may be of great help.

After 24 hours, rinse with your mouth with a solution made of 1/2 teaspoon salt and 8 ounces of warm water. Do not drink from a straw for the first 24 hours. Do not smoke, which can inhibit healing. An ice pack applied to the area will keep swelling to a minimum. Take pain medications as prescribed. The swelling usually subsides after 48 hours. Drink lots of fluid and eat nutritious soft food on the day of the extraction. You can eat normally as soon as you are comfortable. Eat soft foods, such as soup, pudding, yogurt, or applesauce the day after the extraction.

Dental myths related to senior citizens

BDS, MDS
Dentist,
Dental myths related to senior citizens
This is due to lack of awareness about oral health and hygiene
Myth 1: Tooth Loss Is a Normal Part of Aging Process - The fact is that tooth loss is a result of an oral disease, not the aging process
Myth 2: When You Grow Old You Get Dry Mouth - Absolutely Incorrect. Dry mouth (Xerostomia) issues can affect people of all ages, but it is more prevalent in old age mainly due to the medications (decongestants, antihistamines, diuretics and antidepressants) that are consumed for various other health concerns.
Myth 3:Bleeding Gums Are Normal While Aging – Not true. Gum bleeding can occur due to various factors like gum diseases, pockets and it is not related only to aging.
Myth 4: Periodontal Disease Cannot Be Treated in Elders - False. With the combination of scaling to eliminate hardened plaque and infected gum tissue and antibiotics periodontal cases are treated successfully.

Parents generally ignore milk teeth of their kids as they are not permanent supposing they ll shed after few years. they dont know the significance of milk teeth if they shed too eary bcuz of decay or whatever reasons, there are chances that permanent teeth may come with crowding which leaves esthetic issues when child grows up.. if you are feeding him through bottle at night, you must STOP immediately as kids store milk in their mouth overnight which causes tooth decay . its time to see the dentist immediately

My friend is having gum bleeding from past 1 month though she had been using gum forte gel. What to do.
- use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water or hydrogen peroxide to keep the area clean. Avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums. - eat a balanced diet and limit snacking between meals. Carbohydrates and sugars feed dental plaque. - try an oral irrigation device, commonly known as a" water pick, to clear debris from around the gum line. - you may need deep cleaning along with surgical curettage or gum strengthening procedure. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser. You may consult me in person.

I am about 20 years old. Is it possible for me to remove the gap between the teeth by using dental braces.

BDS
Dentist, Gurgaon
I am about 20 years old. Is it possible for me to remove the gap between the teeth by using dental braces.
yes my orthodontic treatment it is possible. One of the best ways to close spaces between front teeth is by bonding composite resin to natural tooth structure to change the width of the teeth. This technique requires minimal or no removal of tooth structure, therefore does not affect the strength and vitality of the natural tooth. The dentist can select composite resin from a variety of shades, making sure the restorations blend perfectly with the rest of the dentition. The composite resin becomes an extension of the natural tooth and the distinction between the two is imperceptible. This treatment option provides excellent esthetic results while being very conservative, entirely reversible, fast and economical in comparison to braces or crowns.

The simplest method of removing minor surface stains is polishing, or micro-abrasion if staining is more intrinsic. Provided that your discolouration is not due to inadequate enamel exposing the dentin, tooth whitening (bleaching) is often the most effective treatment for yellow stained teeth. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use Snowdent tooth paste for whitening until then. Apply SNOWDENT paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min .Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results.

You must go for replacement of the missing tooth always, either removable or fixed denture or implant. If left untreated, leads to drifting of the opposite and adjacent tooth towards the missing space.
