Hi doctor my question was what do you mean by partial thickness tear of the posterior cruciate ligament? And it was dangerous or it will cure with medicines?

It's a ligament in knee joint. It's torn but not completely. It is dangerous if there is laxity and you may need reconstruction surgery arthroscopically. If not lax, then rehabilitation will do the job.

My wife is 64 yrs old & having knee pain & pain in heels. Wt 60 kg.Please Advice.

Physiotherapist, Vasco
Assessment to be done by a physiotherapist, also the weight could be the cause here so activities to reduce weight. Since both knee and heel is paining, water exercises/ swimming will be the best. Heel cushion available in pharmacies will help with heel pain, could be calcaneal spur if the pain is maximum after getting up from bed early in morning and gradually reduces after walking for a few steps. Age factor suggests towards osteoarthritis of knee but x ray should be done for confirming. Continue exercises taught in physiotherapy sessions.

Joint Replacement Surgery: Health Information Basics for You and Your Family

What Can Happen to My Joints?
Joints can be damaged by arthritis and other diseases, injuries, or other causes. Arthritis or simply years of use may cause the joint to wear away. This can cause pain, stiffness, and swelling. Bones are alive, and they need blood to be healthy, grow, and repair themselves. Diseases and damage inside a joint can limit blood flow, causing problems.

What Is a New Joint Like?
A new joint, called a prosthesis (praas-THEE-sis), can be made of plastic, metal, or both. It may be cemented into place or not cemented, so that your bone will grow into it. Both methods may be combined to keep the new joint in place.
A cemented joint is used more often in older people who do not move around as much and in people with “weak” bones. The cement holds the new joint to the bone. An uncemented joint is often recommended for younger, more active people and those with good bone quality. It may take longer to heal, because it takes longer for bone to grow and attach to it.
New joints generally last at least 10 to 15 years. Therefore, younger patients may need to have the same damaged joint replaced more than once.

Most of the people feel a pain still after successful replacement

You can avoid joint replacement surgery, if you can really recover the damaged joint, Joint damage may cause due to above said condition. Glucosamine is marketed to support the structure and function of joints. But Glucosamine should be taken with combination based on the health condition of the person. Please consult a doctor before you proceed with this. Or you can reach us. Lets go with food supplement of glucosamine, we help you with natural from nature.

Hello I am 21 Years old, there is a pain in my legs about 3-4 Months so prefer me what can I do to remove the pain?
Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Actually pain at calf/leg region can be due to many reasons, commonly it is muscular in nature but it can also be due to tendons, nerves, blood vessels etc. My advise to you for initial 2-3 weeks will be: - ice packs application intensively with elevation of your limbs at night - take a short course of anti-inflammatory medication as per your body's suitability - stop your physical activity till pain completely subsides - intensive physical therapy, training and proper muscle conditioning once pain has subsided - slow resumption of physical activities with proper pre activity warm up and stretching of muscles and short increments in duration of physical activity each day as per pain tolerance. - we will get some blood tests for you - serum vitamin d and serum potassium levels, esr and crp once you have all these reports then you can contact me as I can advise you for proper supplementation do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You can also discuss your case and treatment plans with me in a greater detail in a private consultation. Thanks & regards

We are not very sure. However for asthma for asthma problem you can do deep breathing exercies which will definitely be helpful for you. And also do breathing exercises in the east corner of the house where you get more energy as it is in the sun rising side.

Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold). Keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

I am suffering from elbow pain. When ever I get heavy things my shoulder pain also. What is best medicine I can take.

BPTh/BPT

I am suffering from elbow pain. When ever I get heavy things my shoulder pain also. What is best medicine I can take.
The most common cause of elbow pain I see on a daily basis is from overuse or repetitive movements. Eventually small tears can begin accumulating in the surrounding tendons, which may cause inflammation and pain. First and foremost, the best way to treat elbow pain & shoulder pain is to find the source of the pain and eliminate it at least temporarily. If you continue to do what caused the pain in the first place it is safe to say that the pain will linger. Here are few strategies to help you mitigate, or even eliminateelbow pain: 1> stretch your elbow & wrist flexors: you extend your elbow and wrist and gently use your opposite hand to pull them into greater extension. 2> supplement with omega-3s: this can help with the reduction of swelling and formation of scar tissue in your elbows. The other option would be to get more omega-3s in your diet is from fish, walnuts, flax seeds and chia seeds. Drop a feedback if you found it helpful. Good luck!
