Mr. Lybrate-user, hyperacidity and regurgitation problems are likely to be with you. You have to observe certain precautions like: do not keep stomach empty for a long time. Eat small but frequent meals,(every 2 to 3 hours), but total quantity should not exceed your planned daily intake. Plus please keep your blood sugar levels in check - fasting around 100 mg and pp 150 to 160 mg and hba1c% <7. All these things together will help in controlling excess acidity. Avoid spicy foods, sweets and deep fried fods, pastries and junk foods. Reduce the intake of tea or coffee. If you take alcohol that should be stopped and avoid smoking. After meal (lunch or dinner) sit erect for at least 1 hour or more. Exercise regularly for at least 1 hour a day, that helps reduce acidity.

Strengthen Your Liver Through Ayurveda!

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), MD - Ayurveda
Ayurveda, Gurgaon

Once the food undergoes digestion in the stomach, it is then sent to the liver for further digestion. When the heat in the body increases, the liver will be the first organ to be affected.

  • Keeping the liver healthy and functioning normally is an essential elements towards a healthy and prolonged life.
  • Avoid excess of spicy, salty and sour foods as they increase heat and so as alcohol, oily foods and smoking.
  • Raisins soaked in water / buttermilk with cumin powder are one of those measures which remove heat from the liver.

Hi gout is a very severe disease, it affects joints, heart and kidneys. Most people forget that uric acid which deposits in joints can deposit in heart and kidneys too. So basically besides most painful joints it can kill also. Also as disease progresses the arthritis spreads and can have a devastating effect (google gouty arthritis, gouty top, gouty joint, gouty erosions images). The treatment is very simple, but to be taken continuously. Also it is a widespread misconception that you should stop dals. Dals are very healthy source of protein, and they need not be stopped in gout. Gout is a very severe form of arthritis. It has acute and chronic phase. In acute phase requires immediate management in the form of certain drugs. Chronic phase requires treatment to prevent attacks and later lower uric acid. Most doctors treat intermittently, which is why it spreads, you should treat it continuously like diabetes or hypertension. The concept is simple keep uric acid below 6 or in severe cases 5. It can be achieved in most patients by a single tablet. Bringing uric acid from 10 to 7 is of no use because uric acid will keep on depositing as long it is above 6 Attacks go gout can be treated with any form of therapy. But chronic gout requires a simple tablet in allopathy (like a single tablet in patients having high blood pressure), to prevent further attacks and prevent heart and kidney disease. No drug in ayurveda can do that.

My mother has gall bladder stone from last ten years. Now it hurts her a lot. She refused to get operated for this. Any medicine that can help?

BHMS, MD - Homeopathy

Operation is the safest treatment. But if your mother not ready for it, homeopathic medicines can help. Give her less oily food. She should eat light food and drink plenty of water. Eat lot of fruits and vegetables.

Most probably you are having a" acidity. You need to look at your diet. Cut down spices and chillies, tea/coffee/alcohol/cpld drinks, drink more water, eat more fruits and vegetables, go to bed early. If the symptoms still persists, then see a family doctor. Medical treatment is simple.

Diarrhea - When To Consult A Doctor?

MBBS, Diploma in Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases (DTCD), MD - General Medicine
General Physician, Delhi
Diarrhea - When To Consult A Doctor?

Diarrhea is a very common condition, which is associated with the passage of the ingested fluids and foods through your colon more frequently than usual or in huge amounts. This condition is mostly caused by the action of viruses, parasites, bacteria, medications like antibiotics, certain digestive disorders, abdominal surgery, lactose intolerance, and consumption of an excessive amount of alcohol etc. Here are some of the common symptoms, which indicate that you are suffering from mild to moderate diarrhea:

  1. Thirst
  2. Dry or sticky mouth
  3. Not urinating much
  4. Darker yellow urine
  5. Dry, cool skin
  6. Headache
  7. Muscle cramps

If you are suffering from a more serious form of diarrhea, you might also experience symptoms like:

  1. Presence of mucus, blood and traces of undigested food in your stool
  2. Fever
  3. Not urinating, or very dark yellow or amber-colored urine
  4. Dry, shriveled skin
  5. Irritability or confusion
  6. Dizziness or light-headedness
  7. Rapid heartbeat
  8. Rapid breathing
  9. Sunken eyes
  10. Listlessness
  11. Shock (not enough blood flow through the body)
  12. Unconsciousness or delirium

Diarrhea mostly gets cured even without consuming any medicines within a couple of days. However, you need to consult a doctor and get proper treatment for diarrhea in the following cases:

  1. If you are continuously experiencing the condition for more than two days
  2. Your stools contain blood or are black
  3. Severe pain in the rectum or abdomen is bothering you
  4. You experience signs of dehydration like excessive thirst, weakness, dizziness, dry mouth, urine of dark color or reduced frequency and amount of urination
  5. Your body temperature exceeds 102 F (39 C)

Why is the urinary excretion important?

The urinary tract is important because it filters wastes and extra fluid from the bloodstream and removes them from the body. Normal, functioning kidneys

  • prevent the buildup of wastes and extra fluid in the body
  • keep levels of electrolytes, such as potassium and phosphate, stable
  • make hormones that help regulate blood pressure
  • make red blood cells
  • keep bones strong

The ureters, bladder, and urethra move urine from the kidneys and store it until releasing it from the body.

Oral rehydration therapy (ORT) is a type of fluid replacement used to prevent and treat dehydration, especially that due to diarrhea. It involves drinking water with modest amounts of sugar and salts. Oral rehydration therapy can also be given by a nasogastric tube. Take 100-150ml of ORS or any other fluids like fresh juice, lemon water, coconut water, daal water, lassi and chaach can be taken as rehydration fluids. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a General Physician.

I am suffering a problem of chronic disease of higher acidity how can I relief from this problem?

MBBS
General Physician,
I am suffering a problem of chronic disease of higher acidity how can I relief from this problem?
You are having hyperacidity. You should have antacid like milk is a good antacid. Take milk several times a day. Because empty stomach secrets more acid by stomach. Normally one should get dewarming done at least once a year. If not six monthly. Hyperacidity takes place due to infestation of warms like hook warms, round warms. Tape warms etc.

In diagnosis I have fatty liver and blood sugar fasting is 133. My cholesterol is 179. What precautions I should take.

In diagnosis I have fatty liver and blood sugar fasting is 133. My cholesterol is 179. What precautions I should take.
Dear Lybrate user. I understand. You have not mentioned your age. In any case you seems to be over weight. First suggestion is that do not panic and then try to reduce your weight. Exercise is the key for all these three aspects. Fatty liver can be made normal by reducing weight and exercising. A fasting blood sugar level less than 100 mg/dL (5.6 mmol/L) is normal. A fasting blood sugar level from 100 to 125 mg/dL (5.6 to 6.9 mmol/L) is considered prediabetes. If it's 126 mg/dL (7 mmol/L) or higher on two separate tests, you have diabetes. Your doctor will check your blood glucose level once again within a week. Total cholesterol levels less than 200 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL) are considered desirable for adults. You don't have anything to worry on that aspect.
