Did you get your calcium and vit. D and sugar levels checked? what was your b12 level? sometimes you can have these symptoms if you are low in vitamins and calcium. Also sometimes your metabolism is not adequate and you end up feeling tired. Drink plenty of water. Eat fresh fruits to get sufficient antioxidants. Do light exercises daily. Do not skip meals.

I recently read that researchers believe certain foods might cure Alzheimer’s disease. Is this true? If so, which foods do this and how much would you have to consume to get the benefits?

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
Consuming foods such as ginger, green tea, fatty fish, soy products, blueberries, and other dark berries may protect these important cells from damage. Evidence suggests that the DHA found in omega-3 fatty acids may help prevent Alzheimer’s disease and dementia by reducing beta-amyloid plaques. Food sources include cold-water fish such as salmon, tuna, trout, mackerel, and sardines. You can also supplement with fish oil.

I am 22 year male recently analysed off having dyslexia and adhd which is affecting my studies and when inquired about how to help myself got a reply that an adult of this age cannot be helped what can I do about this.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
It is difficult to treat adhd at any time in life, period. So, considering advanced ages, it makes it tougher because the behaviors are all set in and reinforced. However, do not lose hope: there is nothing that is impossible in life except that we have not yet discovered the solution. Every effort is worth it and you should never be in want for not having tried. I also believe that something done is better than nothing done, even if it is wrong: passivity is criminal. You need to combine medication and therapy for something effective to emerge for you. There are three areas of focus in therapy that needs serious work: concentration, hyperactivity, and impulse control. You will need to put yourself on a strict time-structure with planned activities which have reasonable and reachable goals. These must be monitored and assessed regularly to give you an idea of progress. There are concentration exercises in yoga, and the ear and eye exercise, that will benefit you a lot. Meditation will be tremendously useful to moderate your responses and to develop focus and good self-control. Emotional therapy will play a significant role to alleviate the impulsive behavior to a large extent. If all this is done in a social context i. E. In groups or by mixing with other people, you will gain tremendously. You need to be cooperative at all times. Your diet could do with less carbohydrates and a good bit of fiber. It is best to avoid high-energy foods. Vigorous exercise of at least 30 minutes a day will expunge the high energy levels. The treatment is long term and arduous but it is worth putting in this effort for a reasonable outcome. Regarding the dyslexia there are reading exercises by using index cards that will help you with those words that you particularly read wrong. Some teachers who specialize in treating this disorder have equipment and methods that employ the four avenues of word-learning: visual, audio, kinesthetic and tactile. They employ and associate letter and word sounds i. E. From the phonics with the phonemes.

Following a scratch from a pet dog in late april, I decided to go for a rabies booster dose (2 doses) since I had already taken the full course last year. Around 12 days after the rabies booster (on tuesday 5th may), I had a full-on tonic clonic seizure in my sleep (around 12.30 am). The convulsion lasted for around 3-5 mins and I ended up biting my tongue badly. I have no personal or family history of seizures (febrile or otherwise) and this was the first time ever. 15-30 mins (not sure) before the seizure occurred I remember smelling burning garbage/burnt rubber. The next morning, I rushed to the local neurologist who asked me to get an mri/mrv + eeg + lots of bloodwork done. The mri/venal mri was normal, so were the eeg and the blood-tests. The neurologist diagnosed it as late onset seizure disorder and asked me to start with keppra 750 mg twice a day. The same evening I went to another neuro for the eeg and looking at my reports and history, he advised me not to start with the medicine and wait for another seizure before starting the aeds. Also neurologist no. 1 noted that the only real insult was the rabies booster shot and was concerned about the possibility of adem. But since the mri was ok he let it go. Now its been 7 days since the seizure. I have balance issues, limb weakness, difficulty remembering stuff and since yesterday I have extremely itchy palms (with small red spots) and itchy eyes. Its so bad, I was unable to sleep at all last night. Also both my hands and legs (esp my legs) keep falling asleep even when I am sitting normally and I keep getting that pins and needles sensation. My query is this: 1. Is there a possibility of developing adem or any other form of vaccine related encephalitis in the days or weeks ahead? 2. The itchy palms and eyes are a common vaccine adverse effect. Should I be concerned about that? 3. There are more than a few cases of otherwise healthy individuals having seizures/convulsions after taking nootropic vaccines like anti-rabies, japanese encephalitis, tbe etc. Http://www. Jmedicalcasereports. Com/content/7/1/66 pls do check out this link. If my seizure was vaccine meditated. Is there a way to treat the condition (with steroids etc) and/or prevent it from recurring? please do let me know.

Yes it will work, but the best way to treat autism is the homoeopathic method. Because stem cell therapy will be for temporary and again chances for developmental lacking mat arise after few years. Where as homoeopathic medicines changes the genetic code to normalcy... If you wish to know more, feel free to ask...

Hi, I am struggling with insomnia. I have worked in night shifts before. Last month I changed my job. From that moment, I am feeling depression. Anxiety. And other problems. How can I change my night life.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd

Hi, I am struggling with insomnia. I have worked in night shifts before. Last month I changed my job. From that momen...
First you need to deal with your depression, anxiety and other problems. These are troubling you aplenty to keep you awake. You may reach out to a counselor, if you need help. Do not sleep during the day; don’t even lie down. Go for regular exercise (breathing through your nostrils only) at a fixed time (at about 6 am) every day, whether you sleep or not. You must develop this habit of sleeping by 10 pm latest every night and wake up at a uniform time by 6 am every morning, even if you do not get sleep. If you do not get sleep, just lie down and if you have a bed lamp (or you could get one) lie down and read something light but not exciting. Your eyes will tire and you will fall asleep. If you like you may also put on light and soft music with the sleep function on. Depending on whether you are a visual or auditory person, you may watch TV in a lying down position until you feel sleepy. Have a warm bath before going to bed (for some people a cold bath at night seems to induce sleep! If you are one of them, please do so). Place the head side of your bed in a North-South position. The room must be as dark as possible and there should be no electronic items that give off even a light LED glow. There must be ample ventilation in the room. Avoid strong odors, except lavender, on your body or in the room, or on your sheets and clothes. There should not be any live plants in your bedroom. Sleep with the lightest of clothes or without any clothing. When lying down to sleep, lie down on your left ear as much as possible. Do not sleep directly under an overhead fan. You must eat a good breakfast, a fairly light lunch, and an early dinner, which should be a very light meal. Whatever you eat in the other meals, have only a pure carbohydrate meal at night with any vegetables, and preferably before 8 pm. Do not drink much liquids after or near about dinner time. When lying down to sleep you may use the 4-7-8 breathing pattern of sleep inducement i.e. breathe in for four counts through your nostril only, hold for 7 counts, and exhale with a whoosh sound, through your mouth only, for 8 counts. Repeat this four times in the morning and just before you sleep at night. If you know Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT (check this out either on YouTube or Google), then please practice this too for sleep induction. Self-hypnosis and slow relaxation techniques at night will be tremendously useful. Pray last thing at night before you sleep.

Hii Sir/mam I have a question regarding my own health. I have problem of migraine. It is mainly due to the gas problem. My half head Start getting pained while this. What can I do to get rid of it?

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
Avoid triggers. If certain foods or odors seem to have triggered your migraines in the past, avoid them. Reduce your caffeine and alcohol intake and avoid tobacco. In general, establish a daily routine with regular sleep patterns and regular meals. In addition, try to control stress. Exercise regularly. Regular aerobic exercise reduces tension and can help prevent migraines. If your doctor agrees, choose any aerobic exercise you enjoy, including walking, swimming and cycling. Warm up slowly, however, because sudden, intense exercise can cause headaches. Obesity is also thought to be a factor in migraine headaches, and regular exercise can help you maintain a healthy weight or lose weight.
