My son is 9 months old past 6 months his head is becoming heat then and then what may be the reason?
Hello, Lybrate user, it depends upon the constitution of the baby, if your baby is fatty, flabby & fare, she might face sweating on forehead, mild heat upon head with cold sole with salivation while asleep. Give her the under noted homoeopathic medicine:@ Calcarea carbo 30- 1 drop, thrice with 1 tsfl of milk. Report wkly. Prevent your baby from cold intake, exposure to cold climate. You need to remain fit to keep your baby fit & fine. Report, wkly, your feedback matters for further follow-up, please. Tk care.

I can understand your worries constipation is a major problem in childhood if left unattended can cause serious consequences. Remember:- 1) passing motion in any position other then squatting is bad and causing small small ulceration or fissure which is commonest cause of constipation:- so avoid. Use potty chairs. 2) have plenty of raw fibres in diet and plenty of water 3) have fruits in natural form (not juices) 4) use stool softeners available in market for at least 3 days a week or till stool becomes soft. 5) constipation is vicious cycle you need to stop it somewhere.

General Physician,
Hello my wife has 7 month baby now and now she has a problem of milk so what should she take for that problem?
It is common to reduce milk in due course. Ou keep calm mind and have good food and lactare capsule is good ayurvedic tablet to promote milk. Now as baby is 7 months you have to give semisolid home made foods and can reduce breast milk to fewer times. A calm mind is important for milk proccutionand keep baby to breast whenever you can and avoid bottle feeding.

Diet for DM HTN

Homeopath,
Diet for DM HTN

Diet plan for DM and HTN

Food should be distributed into small frequent feeds. The days requirement should be well distributed between the different meals. Skipping a meal or fasting is not really advisable.

As far as possible, the patient should maintain ideal body weight. Considering the height, weight, activity, age and sex of the individual the days calorie requirement can be calculated. Of the total calories 55-65% should come from cho's 15-20% from protein and the remaining 15-20% from fats.

General instructions to be followed:

Different cereals contain almost the same amount of cho and so the quantity of cereal consumed should be noted rather than the type consumed.

Whole grain cereals are better, preferred for their fibre content and satiety value.

Rice gruel if consumed, should be done so by discarding the rice water, and adding hot water.

When consuming wheat porridge, it is better to have it with pulses than using coconut milk in it.

Include whole pulses in the diet, soya products help to reduce cholesterol. Sprouted pulses are more nutrious.

Fish can be included in the diet, in the curry form. Fried fish is the best avoided. Shell fishes like prawns, lobsters etc should be avoided.

Poultry (without skin) can be used occasionally. Beef, pork, mutton, liver etc should be avoided by cardiac patients. Trim off excess fat (if any) before cooking.

Egg yolk has to be avoided by individuals with hyperlipidemia.

Milk and its products need not to be used more than 400 ml/ day. Use skimmed milk whenever possible, otherwise cream has to be removed before consumption.

Root vegetable like tapioca, yam, potato, colocasia etc are better avoided and if used, should be in moderation instead of cereals.

Include more vegetables (esp. Raw salads and green leafy vegetables) in your diet, as it is rich in fibre which in turn helps to reduce blood sugar and cholesterol levels. Raw salads with sprouted pulses enhances the nutrient composition.

Fruits are restricted for diabetics and preferably should be consumed as such than having it in the form of juice. Select low calorie fruits from exchange list.

Cardiac and hypertensive patients can take 3-4 servings of fruits. Whenever possible consume fruits with edible skins eg. Apple. Guava etc.

Use of coconut and its products must be minimized.

Cardiac patients need not restrict the intake of tender coconut water, whereas diabetes can only use it occasionally.

It is better to avoid nuts like badam, peanuts, cashew nuts etc. But occasionally can be used in restricted amounts instead of some other food items so that the calories remain unchanged.

Sugar and sweet should be avoided by diabetic patients. Low calorie sweeteners can be used in moderation as substitutes for sugar, honey, sweets etc. Cardiac and hypertensive patients should minimize their intake of sugar and sweets.

Garlic, curry leaves, fenugreek seeds cluster beans, oatbran etc have blood sugar and cholesterol loosing efforts. Ginger, foods in rich with vit- e and b carotene reduces the risk of cardiac diseases.

Alcohol intake injurious to health, 1 ml of alcohol contains 7 calories. Alcohol can cause hypoglyemia and can increase triglycerides which can be harmful for the heart.

Cooking oil used should be minimized and may be restricted to 10-15 ml/day. (2-3 tsp). Use cooking methods that require little or no fat. Hidden fat in bakery products and snacks should also be taken into account.

Preferably use a combination of cooking oils like sesame. Ground nut, sunflower, rice bran, corn oil etc. Use of coconut and palm oil should be maintained at minimum levels.

Dinner should be enjoyed two hours before retiring. At bed time either diluted milk of fruit can be consumed.

Include foods from all the different food groups and thus consume a balanced diet.

Regular exercise is most useful but physical strain after a meal should be avoided.

Free foods (can be included liberally)

Thin buttermilk, unsweetened lime juice, jeera water, fenugreek water, raw vegetable salads made of low calorie vegetables, plain clear soups etc.

Foods to be used in moderation.

Cereals, pulses, dhals, egg white, fish, chicken (skinned) milk and milk products, fruits, coconut, oil etc.

Foods to be avoided by diabetics.

Sugar, honey, jaggery, glucose and sweets of all varieties like cake, pastries, jams, jelly, sweetened drinks etc.

Roots and tubers like potato, tapioca, yam etc

Butter, ghee, dalda and fried preparations.

You can breast feed your child as long as possible, but addition of top feed liquids, semisolids & solids is very important for normal growth of child. We recommond weaning at 6 moths of age.If child is eating sufficient, breast feeding can be continued.Usually most children leave breast feed after 2 years of age switching to top feed only.

Insulin Like Supplementary Drugs for Hyperglycemia

Homeopath,
Insulin Like Supplementary Drugs for Hyperglycemia

Insulin like supplementary drugs for hyperglycemia
Pramlintide (symlin) is a new type of injectable drug that can help control postprandial hyperglycemia, the sudden increase in blood sugar after a meal. Pramlintide is injected before meals and can help lower blood sugar levels in the 3 hours after meals. Pramlintide is used in addition to insulin for patients who take insulin regularly but still need better blood sugar control. The fda approved this drug in 2005 for adults with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Pramlintide and insulin are the only two drugs approved for treatment of type 1 diabetes.

Pramlintide is a synthetic form of amylin, a hormone that is related to insulin. Side effects may include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, headache, fatigue, and dizziness. Patients with type 1 diabetes have an increased risk of severe low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) that may occur within 3 hours following a pramlintide injection. This drug should not be used if patients have trouble knowing when their blood sugar is low or have slow stomach emptying (gastroparesis).

Behalf of my wife am posting this question. Recently we are blessed with a baby girl. Delivery was not normal. My wife keep feeding for more than 30-40 mins. She keeps feeding else baby cries. Per day she feeds more times. Can someone pls advise what kind of food my wife have to take? We don't know really is this is a problem or milk is not enough for the baby from mother. How to check it? I heard moms use to feed for 10-15 mins. But in our case duration is not normal. Pls clarify us what we have to do.

Certification in Robotic surgery in Gynecology, MRCOG (LONDON), Fellowship in Gyn Endoscopy, MD - Gynaecologist & Obstetrician, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
Its perfectly normal to feed for 30/40 mins initially. Breast feeding is the biggest challenge that the new parent faces. As long as the baby is gaining weight as required her feeding is adequate.Just grit your teeth and be at it for the first 3 months...then it will be a cake walk!
