Hello. I can understand how difficult it is to manage in such situations. Short lived diarrhoea is very common in children whenever a new food is introduced or the type of food is changed. If your baby is not lethargic, eating and drinking and playing, please do not worry. Offer her who-ors liberally. If any concerns, please see a paediatrician in-person for an assessment.

What was her birth weight. Not gaining weight for 3 month is not normal. Breastfeeding alone is not sufficient at this age. Solid food has to be offered. Also need to see if there is any other issue / factors. Better show a pediatrician.

Mother fed babies are slow and late to bowel movements at times. It is not the frequency which counts for the normality of a baby's potty. It is the consistency of stool to hold a bababy constipated or not. Pls bother about consistency not the frequency. Secondly in years case only twice or thrice in 2 months! if it is really so, in reliable information then it is a matter of concern. Pls check with pediattritian in person for any congenital (by birth) anal malformation (atritia) or stricture to be ruled ou.

Is Your Toddler A Late Walker?

MBBS, MS - General Surgery, MCh - Pediatric Surgery

Is Your Toddler A Late Walker?

Some babies learn to walk by the age of nine to ten months, and others may take longer, much longer to start walking properly. By the age of 15 months, people may start asking you if your little munchkin is able to walk yet. These constant questions can eventually irk you off, and keep you wondering if truly your baby is facing any sort of disability or not. In most cases, you will probably find your baby was too lazy to start walking all along, and he has mastered the art of “toddling” a couple of months later. Other times, when your baby has not started walking in over 17 months, you may want to give your paediatrician a visit.

When should you not worry?

If your baby is an active child and is playing around normally, you may not worry about him or her too much. If you find your child able to move around crawling or rapidly kicking his legs around, then your child is probably a late bloomer when it comes to walking. Other factors that will indicate that your baby is not going through any developmental issues are when he or she is able to communicate with sounds or broken speech. Other thing that you must keep in your mind is the relative age of your baby if it is born premature. If your toddler was born two months prematurely, then you must consider his developmental age by adding two months to his actual birth. Also notice if your child is able to move positions on his own, like if he is able to change positions when he is sitting down or lying down. As such, inability to walk is not really a solid indicative of a developmental disorder.

When is it of concern?

When you go to your paediatrician with your child regarding his inability to walk, your doctor will firstly take a note of the general movement of your baby. Thus the “quality” of movement is what matters the most. If your baby is showing signs of rigidity or flaccidity in his limbs, it may concern your doctor, as it is the primary symptom of cerebral palsy. Nothing can be concluded unless your get proper reports of scans like MRIs which your doctor will recommend you to get.

If your child is not walking, avoid carrying him around too much to allow him to make movements on his own. Who knows, you may find yourself chasing him around all over in no time! Consult an Expert & get answers to your questions!

While any medicine can be poisonous to a child if taken under the wrong circumstances, the following types are particularly dangerous: Heart medications: If a child ingests these, it can cause his (or her) heart rate and blood pressure to drop to dangerously low levels. This can result in the child going into shock and lead to cardiac arrest. Pain relievers: Over the counter and prescription pain medications are one of the leading causes of fatal child poisonings, and stats from 2010 show they caused 31% of deaths from poisoning in children younger than 5 years. Antidepressants: Those medications that make the patient feel better do just the opposite to a young child who ingests them. As the second-highest cause of poisoning in children under 6, it seems patients aren’t doing enough to keep their medications out of reach. Antidepressants, allergy pills and sedatives combined accounted for 17% of fatal child poisonings. Diabetes preparations: As diabetes becomes more prevalent the drugs are being prescribed more often. These medications can also be harmful to young children. Over-the-counter medicines: Many seemingly innocuous medications are responsible for a surprisingly high rate of child poisonings. Products such as muscle rubs containing camphor or wintergreen, eye drops and nasal sprays have the ability to cause seizures, coma and other reactions in toddlers and young children. Saying that your child just took one tablet of registerone and assuming he is okay, meaning he did not vommit, no truoble passing stool or urine and is active, there is nothing to worry. But to prevent such incidents form happening in future keep all medications out of reach of children and make sure to give your child lots of water to flush out his system.

Hi I feel that your child is lacking emotional support. Sit with her and talk to her politely and ask her why she is doing all these things. Find out the reason behind her actions. When a child lies to her parents, it may be because of your strict discipline. She feels scared to share with you. Spend quality time with your child and understand her. Teach her how to behave. For every good behaviour give reward. Do not delay the reward, it should be in the form of appreciation, tokens, gifts or taking her out etc. Make a behaviour chart for her. This will help you.

If child is active and gaining weight according to his age then train him for toileting habit by encouraging him to sit on pot daily or twice in a day for about 5-10 minutes, give good quantity of water and liquids to drink. It may be helpful.
