When I am going to sleep my nose fill and I get ok in morning please help me how to get out from situation.

MD - Pathology
General Physician, Amritsar
There could be some obstruction in your nose or it can be sinusitis which is worsening when you lie down. Get your ent check up done. Don't put anything in your nose till you are advised.

I have a problem with my ear, it's swelling and paining from 2 days. I don't know the reason. What I have to do?

DNB (ENT)

Dear, Most likely you have got otitis externa, which is bacterial infection of external ear. Take paracetamol 500 mg three times a day, take soft diet, dont chew, and apply warm packs around ear. It should resolve. If you find no effect, you need to consult ent doctor in person. Hope this opinion helps.

My name is Sibin, I'm 24 years of age. I have pressure on my forehead and just above the nose and eyebrows feels a tightness when concentrating on something for long period. I have frontal sinusitis. Is it because of it? How it can be treated?

BHMS
Homeopath, Chennai
Sinusitis is an inflammation, or swelling, of the tissue lining the sinuses. Normally, sinuses are filled with air. But when they become blocked and filled with fluid, germs (bacteria, viruses, and fungi) can grow and cause an infection. Conditions that can cause sinus blockage include the common cold, allergic rhinitis (swelling of the lining of the nose), nasal polyps (small growths in that lining), or a deviated septum (a shift in the nasal cavity). Homoeopathic constitutional treatment will give you permanent cure , without any side effects.

My 11 year old son often suffers from bronchitis and tonsillitis infections and he also suffers from fruit allergy, leaving him with severe cold if he has any fruit. Do you have any recommendations for his health? Any supplements? I have read about apple cider vinegar and it's curing effects of the above mentioned aliments, but can it be given to my child safely? Also considering his allergy?

B H M S, MD
Homeopath, Thrissur
Dear Remya your sons tonsillitis may be due to multiple causes like viral, bacterial.allergic etc. first of all if you want to find a permanent cure, cause has to be ascertained, and as you know from school day studies every disease is caused by altered immunity from simple cold to virulent cancer . Homoeopathic approach is to correct the imbalance in immunity which is the route cause of disease. No supplement will correct your immunity and it will only enrich with nutrients. if interested do book a online consultation

Hi lybrate-user, I appreciate you seeking help. Your problems seem to be mostly due to allergy. To clear off the sticky mucous, drinking half a glass of luke warm water in which a teaspoonful of fresh honey, 1/4 tsp turmeric, little bit of grated ginger and about 2 pieces of black pepper (grind) are mixed properly would help. You can take this twice daily after food. As an alternative to the above-mentioned, you may as well take 10 ml of Dabur Honitus syrup, thrice daily. Its in your best interest that you have stopped smoking. It seems you are somehow allergic to certain foods and drinks including tea, and also smoking which when taken is leading to excess mucous secretion and hence the stickiness. I would first and foremost advise you to restrict intake of such foods/ drinks so that you can prevent most of these issues. I recommend you to have a balanced yet relatively bland diet devoid of excessive spices, salt, oil et al and have a regularized lifestyle with due emphasis on relaxation/ de-stressing. Exercise/ walking for at least 30 - 45 mins should be a part of your daily regimen unless you have other health issues that do not allow you to. Again, in order that you do not get acidity, it is advisable that you avoid tomato based products, citrus fruits/ juices, greasy, fatty or fried and hot foods, sweets, alcohol, caffeinated beverages, tea (with milk), deep fried flesh foods, peppermint, dairy products including chocolates etc. Also, avoid sticky foods that create more of mucous leading to congestion in throat. Hope this helps correct your condition and also give you a long term prophylactic support. You can always meet up a ENT specialist in person for further clinical evaluation should you not get relief still. Do take care and all the very best. Sincerely,

I am 35 years old and suffering with sinus and allergy problems like sneezing all the time I had operation 2 years back and I feel that my through is filled with water like I have given up smoking 1 year back.

DORL, MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Faridabad
Mr, lybrate-user if you have been operated earlier than I have some thing for you and read this carefully, sinus is a normal roomy structure around nasal cavity its infection called sinusitis, if a person suffering from nasal obstruction along with sinusitis and mild to moderate nasal allergies it means most probably he is suffering from dns (deviated nasal septum. Nasal obstruction is because of the deviated portion of the nasal septum (this is the bony partition of the nose cavity. Allergies are because of the hampered muco-ciliary mechanism (normally mucus is produced in the nose to moisten our nose cavity, oral cavity, and help food bolus to move downward, this mucus is basically moves on the cilia of the nasal mucosa) this mechanism gets hampered and mucus start accumulating in the nose and sinus cavity which is why thick mucus comes from nose in patients of nose obstruction and person develops sinusits. When a surgeon removes the nasal septum deviation has not been removed properly the symptoms persists, and patient thinks that the nose bone has again regrown. It is not because of regrowth but because of half surgery done or due to the non removal of the deviation (reason can be many) nowadays nasal septal deviation can be removed endoscopic-ally.

He is Suffering from tinnitus for 2 months. Continuous ringing in the ears specially left ear. In the night symptoms increases. What to do?

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
Thank you for your query. 1. Almost all people at some point in their lives experience tinnitus. Tinnitus does not have a cure, however, it may be controlled. How severe is your tinnitus on a scale of 1 to 10? 2. Get your ears examined to rule out any ear wax which is one of the commonest causes of Tinnitus. Also rule out any perforation of the ear drum. Decreased hearing also makes one more aware of tinnitus. Get a PTA (Pure Tone Audiogram) done. If you have a hearing loss, amplification may help mask the tinnitus. You may also get your middle ear pressures checked (Impedance Audiometry or Tympanometry). 3. The exact cause of Tinnitus is unknown. However one of the the agreed pathologies is damage to or loss of to hair cells in the inner ear. The role of the brain in the perception of Tinnitus also exists. For example, some people have been relieved of Tinnitus after a cerebral stroke, while some continue to hear it even after the Cochlear (Hearing) Nerve is cut. 4. What is your age? What is your exposure to occupational noise and loud music / earphones / mobile phones? Exposure to loud noise is also a leading cause for tinnitus. 5. If your Tinnitus increases on clenching the teeth, it may require dental bite correction. 6. I have noticed patients who have increased Tinnitus when they are stressed, have fluctuations of blood pressure, low hemoglobin, low blood sugar levels and so on. 7. Cochlear Synaptic Tinnitus may be treated in up to 50% people with Caroverine infusion followed by capsules for two months. Other treatments such as transtympanic steroids, gingko biloba, multi-vitamins and anti-oxidants may also help in reducing Tinnitus. 8. Kindly let me know the results of your investigations. This will help in suggesting further treatment. 9. I must emphasize that in a vast majority of patients of tinnitus, the cause is never found. However there are further treatment options depending on the type of tinnitus. I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them. Regards.

You may be suffering from chronic rhinosinusitis as your condition is 4-5 years old, it will be better to get a nasal examination done by a ent specialist with nasal endoscopy to look for any sinus blockage and he may also get a sinus imaging done with ct if required, you can start tab smarti-m once a day, syrup mucolite 5ml twice a day and steam inhalation twice a day for 5 days.
