Can rotavirus vaccine be given after 2.5 month (1st dose) or it is too late to give baby the 1st dose and is it safe.
This is recommended for routine oral administration for all infants as a 3-dose series. The usual schedule is at ages 2, 4, and 6 months. Rotarix (GlaxoSmithKline) is recommended as a 2-dose series at ages 2 and 4 months. It can be given even if it is 2.5 months now.

Suvarnaprashan - How This Ayurvedic Immunization Will Help Your Baby?

Ayurveda is a life science that ha: s been around for centuries. There are many treatments and medications in Ayurveda that improve the way of life. One such powerful method that increases the immunity in children is suvarnaprashan.

We live in a world where we are surrounded by chemicals be it in food, water or air. With the erratic changes in the climate and our lifestyle need a lot more care than before; giving Suvarnaprashan to your children is one way the parents can ensure that their children grow up to be smart, healthy and strong.

What is Suvarnaprashan?
Suvarnaprashan literally means gold bhasma and is one of the 16 rites of passage of human beings. This all-natural product has been used for over 1000 years and has proven to improve the health and mind of the child.

Suvarnaprashan is a mixture of gold ash, ghee, and honey and is fortified with herbal extracts like brahmi, vacha, shankhpushpi and others. Investing in the early stages of the child’s life is imperative. The early stages are where the body starts to grow and the mind is said to be most intelligent. Administering suvarnaprashan at this stage will make sure you reap the maximum benefits. Suvarnaprashan can be given to children up to the age of 16 years.

Let us take a look at the benefits of Suvarnaprashan:

  1. Boosts the Immune System: Till the age of 5, children are more susceptible to infections. Suvarnaprashan consists of herbs that can help in boosting the immunity system. It can protect children from fever, cold, and cough.
  2. Improves Memory: This method is very helpful in improving the brain health. It can increase the grasping power, improve attention and enhance the memory in children.
  3. Helps with Digestion: Suvarnaprashan improves the process of digestion and also increases the absorption of nutrients in the body. The loss of appetite and gastric discomfort are often faced by children. This method can treat both these issues.
  4. Skin Health: Skin is the perfect way of knowing the health of a person. This method removes the harmful toxins from the skin and performs a detoxification. This will improve the blood circulation and also improve the texture of the skin.
  5. Improves Hearing and Vision: This method when taken in the right amount and method, also benefits the eyesight and hearing.
  6. Mental Health: Temper and tantrums are often witnessed in children. Suvarnaprashan has a calming effect on the mind, that can help calm them down. Suvarnaprashan can also be suggested for children with learning disabilities and autism.

One thing to keep in mind is that Suvarnaprashan should be consumed on an empty stomach. It is best to consume food only 30 minutes after having it. This is one of the most effective ways of ensuring the good health of the child.

Since you are giving Lactogen 2 to your baby, he might be more than 6 mth old. Apart from giving milk, shift to complimentary fine rich diet the your baby. Start giving khichdi, Dalia, mashed fruits and vegetables etc for better digestion and relief from constipation.

Health Tip for Babies
Don't be worrried about your baby's eating habits. If he is wetting the diaper 6-8 times and making bowel movements 2-5 times a day, it means he is getting enough to eat.

My daughter 5 year old. From lost 1 year she suffer due to diabetic. recently in test thyroid stimulating hormone 9.6 percentile. What can I do for her.

Hello, Thanks for the query. I am sure you are treating her diabetes with insulin injections. Hope you are able to keep the glucose levels in fair control. As regards thyroid functions, are you referring to TSH value as 9.6 mU/L? If so then the child has hypothyroidism also. This needs to be treated with Levothyroxine. Dose has to be decided on the basis of TSH & T4 values plus weight of the child. It is absolutely essential to start the treatment immediately, otherwise child's intelligence will get affected. Thanks.

My baby is 4 month old and as he rolling due to pressure on stomach he is vomiting a lot and his toilet is yellowish color proper but doing 3 to 4 times a day little little. Here he is drinking and then rolling and then vomiting. He is not vomiting milk but it's like dahi. Dr. he suggested perinorm 8 drops thrice a day is it safe to give him perinorm as I have read a lot of side effect of perinorm. If not safe then kindly suggest me the substitute for d same.

My baby is 4 month old and as he rolling due to pressure on stomach he is vomiting a lot and his toilet is yellowish ...
This is a normal reflux. Curd like little regurgitation is common while stomach is being pressed. So nothing to worry. We don't prefer perinorm unless there is severe vomits. The signs you mentioned is just a regurgitation. That does not warrant therapy. Do proper burping post feeds. Keep head up position and demoralized prone position for long. Regards.
