Hi There are various causes for hand pain kindly visit physiotherapist for clinical examination. For pain take cold water fomentation for 20 minutes thrice a day for 5 days. Do stretching and gentle massage of hand . If still you don't get relief and need further advice, consult me via Lybrate.

A high uric acid level can be caused when your body either produces too much uric acid or your kidneys don't eliminate uric acid rapidly enough. A high uric acid level may cause increasingly frequent attacks of gout, or it may never cause problems. A high uric acid level may also cause some people to develop kidney stones or kidney failure. And some people with a high uric acid level also develop high blood pressure, heart disease or chronic kidney disease, but it's often unclear whether this is a direct cause or merely an early warning sign of these conditions. Factors that may cause a high uric acid level in your blood include: Diuretic medications (water pills),Drinking too much alcohol,Genetics (inherited tendencies),hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid),Immune-suppressing drugs,Niacin, or vitamin B-3, obesity,psoriasis, Purine-rich diet — organ meat, game meat, anchovies, herring, gravy, dried beans, driedpeas, mushrooms and other foods Renal insufficiency — inability of the kidneys to filter waste Tumor lysis syndrome — a rapid release of cells into the blood caused by certain cancers or by chemotherapy for those cancers,Also, you may be monitored for high uric acid levels when undergoing chemotherapy or radiation treatment for cancer. Avoid protein diets, avoid more milk products. bad habits , fast food/fat/oily,salty foods. Coffee, smoking, alcohol intake. Non-veg., take whole grain,oats,green veg.,plenty of water in day time, 1 glass of water at night before bed. Take tab. Zyloric 100 mg once a day. Tab. Ulracet sos for pain in joints.

Dear lybrate-user I think you have muscle pain due to gym exercises and it will heal in due course. Please apply ice for 20 minutes every hourly and take some rest. Don't do exercises which gives you pain.

I have dheel (hindi word) (a problem at the sole of feet). It was operated 4 years back. But it is paining now. What to do doctor?

Try this for joint pains try this. Identify the mid point between the ankle bone and tendons and give pressure with a blunt edge on either side of your foot for 2 minutes. Also give pressure in the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from your toe for 2 minutes. Finally give a good massage for both feet in hot water. Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings. This will relieve your problem. Consult after 10 days.

2 Self Myofacial Releases for Early Morning Heel Pain

A. Anatomy and Function of SOLEUS

  • The soleus originates from just below the knee and inserts onto the Achilles tendon. 
  •  The soleus is responsible for plantarflexion of the foot.

Reasons to Treat

  • Excessive tension in the soleus can cause pain at the site of injury, or further down the kinetic chain (in the Achilles tendon or plantar fascia).

Set-up

  •  Sit on the ground with your legs straight and calves on top of the roller.
  •  Using your arms, press yourself up so that your buttocks are hovering over the ground.

Performance

  •  From the starting position, roll back and forth, keeping the knees unlocked.
  •  Focus the pressure on the medial and lateral areas of the lower part of the calf, just above the ankle.
  •  Roll for 30–60 seconds.
  •  To increase the pressure, try stacking one leg on top of the other and rolling only the bottom leg.
  •  To further increase pressure, actively dorsiflex the toes (pull them toward your shin) to place the soleus on stretch.

Alternate Modalities

  •  Use a tennis or lacrosse ball to increase the pressure. This method is generally easier on the arms and upper extremity since you don’t have to hold yourself up.

B. Anatomy and Function of Gastrocnemius

  •  The Achilles tendon connects the gastrocnemius and soleus to the calcaneus.
  •  The Achilles tendon aids the gastrocnemius/soleus in producing plantar flexion.Reasons to Treat
  •  Excessive tension in the Achilles tendon can lead to issues further up (the gastrocnemius/soleus) or further down (the plantar fascia) the kinetic chain.

Set-up

  •  Sit on the ground with your legs straight and calves on top of the roller.

My mri of left knee says there is diffuse patella femoral chondromalacia with full thickness cartilage loss over medial patellar facet and underlying articular irregularity my age is 44 years n I am female my knee hurt after I fell down from staircase I never had any problem before I n undergoing physio I want to know what is the proper line of treatment.

Dear mam. Take proper rest improve your diet including vitamin d and start mild strengthing exercise. Don't go weight bearing exercises avoid heavy weight. Thanks.

Knee Osteoarthritis and PRP Therapy - What Should You Know?

Knee osteoarthritis is a common condition affecting the knee joints. This condition results from age related degeneration of joint cartilage and synovial fluid. This results in excessive stiffness, swelling, pain and decreased mobility due to loss of lubricant functions of joint cartilage.

Treatment for Knee Osteoarthritis:

Treatment for knee osteoarthritis consists of anti inflammatory drugs, lifestyle modifications and knee exercises. In advanced stages where pain is severe or conservative therapy fails, replacement of knee joint is required. In many cases, knee replacement is not feasible or desired due to various reasons. For such cases, other treatment option is available in form of Platelet rich Plasma (PRP) injection in knee joint.

How is PRP therapy done?

The procedure involves drawing a sample of blood from the patient and then placing it in a Centrifuge machine which extracts the Platelet rich plasma (PRP) constituent from blood.The sample constitutes of platelets (blood cells) which consist of numerous healing and inflammatory chemicals. This PRP sample is injected in the knee joint under sterile precautions. This decreases inflammation, and promotes healing.

Benefits of PRP therapy:

  1. The body’s first response to soft tissue injury is to deliver platelets. Platelets carry cells, proteins, and other growth / healing factors that initiate repair and recruit stem cells. PRP therapy’s natural healing process intensifies the body’s efforts by delivering a higher concentration of platelets within the damaged joint. Research has shown PRP therapy to be very effective at relieving pain and returning patients to their normal activities. Both Ultrasound and MRI images have shown definitive tissue repair after PRP therapy, confirming the healing process.

  2. The need for knee replacement can also be greatly reduced by promoting repair of cartilage before joint damage becomes extensive. In fact PRP therapy works best when done in early stages of Knee Osteoarthritis.

  3. Relieves pain without the risks of surgery or general anesthesia.

  4. No hospital stay is required. The procedure is performed safely and takes approximately two hour including preparation and recovery time. In fact, most people return to their jobs or usual activities right after the procedure.

  5. Most patients require 2 to 3 sessions of knee PRP therapy.

Side effects of PRP Therapy:
