An alternative way of flossing is using a toothpick to remove plaque from the mouth. But be careful and don't be too harsh.

Hi, you need to get a professional cleaning done. If that does not help then you may go for teeth whitening.

I have done rct during that my mouth is not opening widely it is about two fingers it is serious problem I am suffering from one month please give me afvice can I consukt with other dr? what should I do I am worried about that so much

MFDS RCPS (Glasgow), MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, BDS
Dentist, Delhi
Restricted mouth opening may happen after dental treatment due to several reasons 1. Muscle spasm due to the local anaesthetic administration 2. Aggravation of a preexisting subclinical jaw joint dysfunction 3. Recurrent, spreading infection 4. Inflammation in the muscles of the jaws etc. Treatment depends upon the actual cause in each case. Please see your dentist for an evaluation. If you or the dentist or both are uncertain of the diagnosis, you may consult an oral & maxillofacial surgeon. As far as a second opinion is concerned, it is your right and prerogative and you can definitely get one. Most times, though, the problem can be sorted out. So do not worry. See your dentist first. They might actually be able to direct you to an appropriate specialist as necessary.

I have teeth pain daily. Even I used many pastes. But also I'm getting pain. What should I do.

M.Sc - Medical Bio-chemistry, BDS
Dentist, Jaipur
I have teeth pain daily. Even I used many pastes. But also I'm getting pain. What should I do.
Tooth pain may be due to carious infection leading to pulpitis (inflammation within tooth). Tooth paste is used to clean plaque and polish the tooth surface. It will never remove any bacterial infection of either tooth or gums. So consult a dentist so that exact cause of your pain can be ruled out; then further treatment can be suggested. If pain is slight in form of sensitivity then filling will be sufficient but if pain is severe then, according to the prognosis root canal treatment followed by capping or any other treatment procedure will be required.

My condition is very miserable my teeth also yellow and sensitive. Please suggest me.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with desensitizing/ whitening procedures and / or artificial enamel filling. You may consult me in person too. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush.

U might have 3rd motor (wisdom tooth) impacted. Consult to your dentist you might have deep carious teeth. T/t filling the teeth. If caries are deep then root canal treatment is the option you might have root pieces present which causing infection and pain. Extraction is the option.

Visit your dentist soon before that infection cause toothache, because once toothache will start it indicated infection at your tooth pulp and than it will require rct which will be costlier and time consuming treatment.

Hypersalivation also called ptyalism is excessive production of saliva. It has also been defined as increased amount of saliva in the mouth, which may also be caused by decreased clearance of saliva.Hypersalivation can contribute to drooling if there is an inability to keep the mouth closed or in difficulty in swallowing the excess saliva (dysphagia). Reasons for Hypersalivation are---------- 1.Gastroesophageal reflux disease, in such cases specifically called a water brash, and is characterized by a sour fluid or almost tasteless saliva in the mouth. 2.Excessive starch intake 3.Mouth ulcers. 4.Oral infections 5.Liver Problems 6.Medicines----certain medicines initiate salivation if you are presently on medicines for any problem. Treatment of your problem can be done by treating the underlioned factor causing salivation.

I m 50 years old man. My mouth is not open properly. Chewing tobacco products since many years. What can I do suffering this problem?

BDS
Dentist, Ahmedabad
Due to smoking and tobaco chewing the soft tissues of oral cavity as well as muscles get stiff over the period of time, results in restricted mouth opening. These habits also leads to the disease of gums as well. The first and primary treatment starts with quitting the habit. Execise to be done at home: - take the bundle of wooden ice cream sticks and place it between upper and lower teeth in front region for 10-15 mins. - repeat the exercise 2-3 times a day. - gradually increase the number of sticks every day. - continue with this exercise till desired mouth opening is achieved. - patience is required as this exercise will take several weeks to achieve the desired mouth opening. - this exercise will be helpfull only when patient quits the habit of tobaco chewing or else this exercise will not help at all.

• Eat a healthy, balanced diet and avoid eating strongly flavoured or spicy food. • Cut down on sugary food and drink, as it can increase the amount of bacteria in your mouth. • Reduce your alcohol consumption. • Stop smoking. • Cut down on coffee. • Drink plenty of water to help prevent your mouth becoming dry. • Chew sugar-free gum after eating, to stimulate the flow of saliva. This will help clean away any remaining food particles. • Make sure you visit your dentist for regular check-ups. Having regular dental check-ups will ensure that any plaque is removed from your teeth, particularly in areas that are difficult to reach. • Your dentist can recommend the best way to clean your teeth and gums, and point out areas you might be missing. They can also identify any signs of gum disease and ensure early treatment.
