All positions are good for sleep. Each person has his/her position Of maximum comfort during sleep. You should sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Too thick & soft(8-10 inches) mattress are not desirable.

You are very young, this pain may be due to weak neck muscles,--- so do neck exercises and deep breathing exercises daily 5 minutes each twice in a day. You will be fine.

Kindly show me a photograph of the affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Your knee pain could be due to certain reasons but common ones are chondromalacia, pain due to knee instability, inflammation etc. If there is no history of any injury, and no s/s of inflammation or infection like swelling, skin redness or local warmth on touch, then I will like to advise you for conservative management initially in form of: - intensive physical therapy with focus on strengthening of quadriceps and stretching of other group of muscles - gentle anti inflammatory medications like tab etoshine or tab paracetamol can be taken in small doses for 5-7 days - adequate calcium and vitamin d supplementation as per requirement - ice packs at home for 3-4 times in a day and see how it goes for around 2 weeks time. If your condition does not improve, then we will have to get certain investigations done. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You can also discuss your case and treatment plans with me in a greater detail in a private consultation.

Advice. Avoid sitting cross legged. Ankle stretching. Ankle strengthening exercises. Avoid squatting. Quadriceps exercises. Core strenthening exercises. Stretch calves get a custom made insole. Hams stretching. Sports taping. Hot fomentation.

Your main working posture is sitting so you have to correct your posture while working do walk and back, neck and abdominal strengthening exercise.

Dear lybrate user, many factors can be associated for back pin from disc, joints, muscles etc. If there is morning stiffness some rheumatic component can also be present, advise is to get yourself throughly examined by orthopedician or interventional pain specialist for proper diagnosis and then further correct treatment, than taking pain killers for pain. put hands and feets in warm water. apply zandu balm or any other pain relief ointment and then put foots and palms in warm water for about 20 mins to reduce irritation.

I am going to gym from a week and my muscles pains I have read about DOMS I am not sure what it is? Can you explain.

Hi, one step towards fitness. Good initiative! Delayed-Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) is exercise related muscle pain. It develops after excessive and unaccustomed exercise. It is particularly prevalent with eccentric exercises (muscle lengthening) component eg downhill running, longer distance running, plyometric exercises, and landing drills. DOMS is caused by micro muscle fibres tears (muscle strains). The microtrauma results in an inflammatory response. The classic DOMS sufferer describes a dull muscular ache that develops 24 to 48 hours after the performance of new or strenuous exercise. It is localised to the involved muscles and will result in muscle stiffness plus tenderness. You should avoid aggressive exercise during the recovery phase. I started skipping in 14th march 2015,and in 24th march I started getting pain in my left knee also the surrounding area to the knee.I have not visited the doctor yet because I am trying to get well through homemade remedies.I tried wetting it with lukewarm water for sometime and the covering it up with the crepe bandage,secondly while retiring to bed at night,I also apply volini spray and again cover it up the same crepe bandage.The pain is little less but m fed up of this.Apart from visiting the doctor,can the doctors online suggest me what shud I do to end up with this? ra

Do hot fomentation twice a day. Go to you nearest physiotherapist and take treatment i. E. Ift, us, swd for next few days. Followed by back strengthening exercises. Dont bend forward, sit straight with a proper support, sleep on a hard bed.

Hi. After having a good night sleep you should be refreshed and no pains. If you r having pain after getting up from sleep it means your bed is not proper. Change the mattress or sleep on floor for a few days and check. If it's still the same have a workup.
