Hello lybrate user- insomnia occurs due to improper food intake, improper schedule, any tragedy or loss in the family or society etc. I am here by mentioning some brilliant ayurvedic medicines which will help you without any side effects- a) Ashwagandharistha 2 tsp twice daily. B) Brahmi hair oil daily use. C) Brahmi hair oil also used as nasal drops twice daily. D) Massage youR foot sole daily with cows ghee before going to bed. E) Drink a glass of milk with sweets before going to bed. F) Avoid sleeping in daytime and go to bed before 10 pm whether feeling sleepy or not.

One month ago my grandmother had a mild stroke. She was taken to Apollo hospital (outside) and there doctors given her acitrom. But now blood is coming through the gums and is not stopping. Then a local doctor given her injection to stop bleeding. It is to be noted that she was regularly monitoring INR. But even after this it happened. Is it necessary to take acitrom further, or she may stop it forever?

MBBS, DNB, Fellowship in Neurosurgery
Neurosurgeon, Kolkata
Dear mild stroke does not require acitrom. What was the mri report and echocardiography report? if she is bleeding. Urgently contact your concerned doctor. Acitrom needs to be stopped. But depending on the stroke, she needs other medication.

Migrane can be managed with lifestyle changes and medications, try muscle relaxation exercises. Relaxation may help ease the pain of a migraine headache. Get enough sleep, but don't oversleep. Get an adequate amount of sleep each night. It's best to go to bed and wake up at regular times, as well. Rest and relax. If possible, rest in a dark, quiet room when you feel a headache coming on. Place an ice pack wrapped in a cloth on the back of your neck and apply gentle pressure to painful areas on your scalp. It is very important keep a headache diary. Continue keeping your headache diary even after you see doctor. It will help you learn more about what triggers your migraines and what treatment is most effective. A dose of riboflavin in appropriate dose as prescribed by me, also may prevent migraines or reduce the frequency of headaches. Coenzyme q10 supplements may decrease the frequency of migraines, magnesium supplements may also be used to treat migraines do reply back for medication prescriptions. Being also a general physician and registered dietitian, I prescribe both evidence based herbal as well as allopathic medicines complementing with dietary guidelines and home remedies carefully personalized for each individual patient.
