I am a male, 91 years of age. I am having pain in my left leg, as if some thing is pulling inside. Sometimes it goes upto foot, and it becomes dead. I have to move it to get it working. I am keeping it under control by regular exercise, but pain persists. I hope it is not due to heart problem. Kindly advise.

it could be due to the demyelination of the nerves. the best treatment would be to undergo shashtik shali swedana at a panchakarma centre near you. It will benefit a great deal. Also start taking ashwagandharishtam 15 ml twice a day after meals.

Dear Lybrateuser, - Along with medication your brother has to strictly follow lifestyle changes to bring his BP down - diet should contain more of fibrous foods, vegetables including green leafy & seasonal ones, fruits, whole grains like whole wheat, brown rice, oats, barley, low fat milk & milk products, lean meats especially fish like mackeral, tuna, sardines, salmon, soya products, mixed nuts like almonds, walnuts, pista, cashews - restrict salt & salty snacks, saturated & trans fat containg foods - do regular exercise like brisk walking, jogging, swimming, play game for 20-30 min, also do yoga, meditation & deep breathing for 5-10 min daily - destress by reading, listening to music, following a hobby - do regular checkups as advised by your doctor.

Dear, To control & maintan BP normal these are best methods to follow:.• Do physical exercise like jogging, running or brisk walk for atleast 20-30 minutes. • Maintain your cholesterol level to normal & eat least amount of butter, cream or fatty things. • Eat less amount of pickle, salt and fast food as they contain high sodium levels. • Avoid drinking alcohol and smoking. • Take less amount of caffine containing coffee, tea or cold drinks because caffine causes increase BP. • Drink 8 to 10 glass of water daily • Take 6 to 8 hrs of sleep daily. Death can occur in 1st heart attack if help is not given in time to an otherwise perfect looking person. Attack does not come through blood in the mouth but it might have been a symptom of internal bleeding due to rupture of blood vessels.

One of the best oils that you can think of switching to if you feel that you are overweight is olive oil. It is rich in monounsaturated fats which will help in lowering the LDL cholesterol and improving the HDL cholesterol in your body. •Daily consumption of one to two tablespoons of olive oil will do no harm to your body when compared to butter and other vegetable oils.

I am a male of 29 years age. I was normal until only two years ago, I unintentionally measured by B.P and it came a little bit on higher side. Then I went to doctor and he also checked my B.P and it came a little on higher side. Then the doctor advised me to go for 24 hours ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and it came out to be normal but initial readings were high. Then doctor told me that you have white coat effect. I become nervous whenever someone else checks my b.p whether at home or in a clinical setting and my b.p comes out on higher side. But whenever I am alone and I record my B.P on automatic B.P monitor, it comes out to be normal and most of the times below 120/80. But from the last one year I feeling slight tinges near my heart and I feel that that my heart is beating against my chest but not to that extent but when I put my hand near hand, I can feel my heat beating sharply and like against my chest. I did an ECG and it showed left ventricular hypertrophy but showed that it might be some voltage criteria. Then I did an ECHO and it came out to be perfectly normal. But still I feel that there is something wrong with my heart and I continuously feel some tinges in my heart. Doctors first put me on petril beta and then other put me on concor 5 mg along with some anti depressants. Currently the cardiologist has put me on stalopam 5 mg and clonazepam 0.25 mg. That is all. But still I feel that I am not healthy and I always fear that there is something wrong with my heart and that might be due to high bp. Please help me and please tell me that whether automatic bp monitors from which I measure bp at home are accurate or not. Please help me.

White coat hypertension means only have anxiety related BP and automatic BP monitoring device is only for a screening The term “white coat” comes from references to the white coats traditionally worn by doctors. The white coat effect means that your blood pressure is higher when it is taken in a medical setting than it is when taken at home. On average, when your blood pressure is taken at home the top (systolic) number can be around 10 mmHg lower than it would be if taken by a doctor and 5 mmHg lower on the bottom (diastolic) number. For some people this difference can be even greater.

Hello Pl note While high blood pressure in itself can lead to sexual dysfunction, studies show that many of the drugs used to treat this condition also can cause sexual difficulties. In men, the decreased blood flow can reduce desire and interfere with erections and ejaculation. In women, it can lead to vaginal dryness, a decrease in desire, and difficulties achieving orgasm. Three types of blood-pressure medications — diuretics (or “water pills”), beta-blockers and alpha-blockers — have been found to have the highest incidence of sexual side effects. Some diuretics, for example, not only interfere with blood flow to the sex organs but increase the body’s excretion of zinc, which is needed to produce testosterone. And beta-blockers can sabotage a satisfying sex life at least three ways — by making you feel sedated and depressed, by interfering with nerve impulses associated with arousal and by reducing testosterone levels. Options: Talk with your doctor or other health care provider about switching to another type of blood pressure medication. Stay healthy.

Low cholesterol, low salt, light diet, lukewarm water drinking and I would suggest to take few herbal medicine and procedures parallel to your current treatment. Med of herbal nature won't interact with allopathy, no side effects. For example steaming of paralyzed part with water boiled with some herbs. Similarly light massage by herbal 'Vaatnashak' oils, seasame oil use for light massage and oral use etc. Pl send details of current regime and reports etc. There will definitely be faster improvement.

NUTRITIONAL BENEFITS OF CORIANDER OR CILANTRO

Coriander is full of an unusual array of healing phytonutrients and anti-oxidants. Its leaves and seeds contain some amount of various essential oils that makes this herb useful for use in traditional medicines. It is anti-septic, analgesic, aphrodisiac, helps with digestion, fungicidal and a natural stimulant.
It is a very good source of vitamins A, C, K and traces of the B vitamins. In the minerals department, it provides high amount of calcium and potassium. Both of these would have already been helpful for relieving various ailments. Then there are iron, manganese and sodium.

HEALTH BENEFITS

Cilantro has such a wide variety of goodness in the little leaves, making it a very useful herb for relieving many ailments. Include a bunch into your juice regularly for its life-giving properties.

Antibiotic properties: An antibiotic compound, dodecenal, was isolated from cilantro and tested in the laboratory. The impressive result showed that it is twice as effective as the commonly used antibiotic drug gentamicin at killing the food-borne bacteria, salmonella.

Anti-cancer: The anti-oxidant properties from cilantro include beta carotene, vitamin C and E, ferulic, caffeic acid, kaempferol, and quercetin. This broad spectrum of anti-oxidant helps to lower the risk of oxidative stress in the cells that are carcinogenic (cancer-causing).

Anti-microbial properties: Cilantro contains volatile oils that have antimicrobial properties, making it a very useful herb that can be used for fungal, bacterial or yeast infections.

Anti-inflammatory properties: Cilantro is an excellent source of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Omega 3 fatty acids is the building block for several of the body?s most widely used families of anti-inflammatory messaging molecules and many other uses.

Blood sugar: A study that was done on mice confirmed that this herb has an anti-diabetic effect and can control blood sugar. When juiced and consumed regularly, cilantro can help stimulate the secretion of insulin, thereby lowering blood sugar.

Bone Health: Cilantro is an excellent source of calcium. Calcium is a vital nutrient that is required for formation and maintenance of strong bones.

Cholesterol lowering ability: Cilantro when juiced and consumed on a regular basis can help reduce the amount of damaged fats (lipid peroxides) in the cell membranes. Studies have shown that cilantro can lower bad cholesterol level and increase the good cholesterol level.

Eyesight: The high beta-carotene and anti-oxidants in cilantro make it one of the best herbs that helps alleviate eye problems thus improving eyesight. In addition, it also help reduce the threat posed by age; associated with vision disorders such as macular degeneration, and cataract.

Heavy metal detox: Cilantro is one of the very few herbs that is used as a heavy metal detox agent, to detoxify mercury, aluminium and lead among others. Make a small bottle of neat, concentrated cilantro juice and mix with chlorella powder. Drink an ounce of the mixture every day and feel the improvement to your brain power. Store the potion in the fridge. Read more about heavy metal poisoning here.

Immune booster: The presence of anti-oxidants, rich phytonutrients, minerals and vitamins in cilantro all work syngergistically to boost the body?s overall immunity system against infection.

Insomnia: Due to the various phytonutrients and medicinal values of cilantro, it helps rebalance the internal chemicals, providing a calming effect to the nerves that enable sleep to come easier.

Kidney stones: Cilantro has a diuretic and detoxifying effect that can help lower the risk for kidney stones.

Which type of Angioplasty system is better making hole in Radial /wrist access or in right upper thigh/ femoral access in view of a heart patient aged 65 years or please intimate the benefit/harm, Radial versus Femoral Access for Coronary Intervention.

Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, MBBS

Which type of Angioplasty system is better making hole in Radial /wrist access or in right upper thigh/ femoral acces...
Radial requires skill and is less traumatic compared to femoral which too requires skill but it has been there for a lot more years, the side effects of femoral are 1) bleeding through a malor vessel, there fore the leg has to be kept at a higher level with head side low for at least 6 hours & post procedure care takes longer to heal though in both the vessels it is just a puncture caused by a thick needle to inject dye to reach the heart vessels. If one is sure about the cardiologist (some places do give exagerrated opinions about their doctors on call) get it through radial. Regarding other conditions like constipation, make sure that the system is clean & person takes adequate semisoild food as nourishment, no ga is reguired but there is slight risk of vomiting due to pain reflex.

take tab. ecosprin 150 sos when chest pain occurs. High cholesterol can cause atherosclerotic heart disease or narrowed coronary arteries in the heart can cause the symptoms of angina, when theheart muscle is not provided with enough oxygen to function. Decreased blood supply to the brain may be due to narrowed small arteries in the brain or because the larger carotidarteries in the neck may become blocked. This can result in a transient ischmic attack or stroke. Peripheral artery disease describes gradual narrowing of the arteries that supply the legs. During exercise , if the legs do not get enough blood supply, they can develop pain , called claudication . Other arteries in the body may also be affected by plaque buildup causing them to narrow, including the mesenteric arteries to the intestine and the renal arteries to the kidney. Avoid fast foods, oily foods, junk foods, alcohol, smoking, fatty foods, non-veg.,avoid stress, take green veg., whole grain.garlic,. Take anti cholesterol medicines .
