Skin Problems - Is Dandruff The Cause of it?

Dandruff or seborrhea refers to the flaky condition of your skin or scalp caused primarily due to dryness. It is a very common problem for young adults and middle aged people, but can happen to any person regardless of age. Dandruff itself being an embarrassing problem, can also sometimes lead to other skin problems.

The following are a few skin problems that can crop up due to dandruff:

  1. Can cause pimple: If dandruff or the white flakes fall on your T-zone region very often, then it may lead to the breakout of pimples on your skin.
  2. May result in pigmentation: The pimples, which can happen due to dandruff can further lead to the problem of pigmentation. This condition leads to the appearance of unwanted black spots all over your face.
  3. Trigger eczema: Dandruff makes skin problems like eczema and psoriasis even worse. Eczema and psoriasis, which causes itching of the skin can get severe due to dandruff.
  4. Rashes are also a possibility: Facial rashes can also develop due to dandruff. Often areas around the eyebrows, nose and ears get affected. Sometimes, in case of men, beard rashes also pop up.
  5. Chest rashes: Dandruff often falls all over your body. This can lead to the problem of chest rashes. This condition results in the appearance of red spots all around your chest region.

Dandruff can be a very distressing problem. If your skin type is oily, dandruff can make conditions far worse. Dandruff is such a problem that cannot be completely cured, but can only be controlled. So, it is highly advisable to take preventive measures as soon as it is detected to avoid further problems.

I do know that we have several types of treatment methods to treat Psoriasis, but allopathic doctors says that it can be controlled, but cannot be cured. Alternative treatments include homeopathy, Ayurveda says that the treatment Wii be long lasting, but it may reoccur. So considering side effects, treatment effectiveness items of curing (not items of treatment days), patient age (56), avoiding reassurance, which is the best method of treatment for Psoriasis? Allopathy, homeopathy, Ayurveda, herbal treatment? Your help is really appreciated.

Homeopath,

Homeopathy is a natural, safe and effective science that treats skin complaints wonderfully well. Homeopathic medicines remain very successful in treating psoriasis by moderating the overactive immune system. Homeopathic medicines follow a curative approach in treating psoriasis and do not suppress it. In fact, by the time treatment ends, psoriasis is completely eradicated, in its full extent. The ideal medicine is selected after an in-depth case study and analysis. Homeopathic medicines start by treating symptoms such as itching and burning in psoriatic lesions. The next step is stop further progression of the disease. In the last phase, Homeopathic medicines heal the psoriatic lesions. Homeopathic medicines have shown remarkable results in all kinds of psoriasis, including psoriatic arthritis Psoriasis is a skin disease characterised by well defined red patches covered in silvery white scales. Skin cells normally grow and are shed every 28 to 30 days. In psoriasis, the skin cells start to grow more rapidly, every 3 to 5 days. The skin cannot shed the excessive cells as quickly as they appear on its surface. The result is a build-up of cells on the skin referred to as plaque. The skin lesions in psoriasis may be attended with itching and burning, the intensity varying from case to case. Pain may be present along with itching and burning in psoriatic eruptions. Psoriasis is a disease that runs a remitting and relapsing course, that is to say that there is a phase when the psoriasis gets better, termed as the remitting phase, followed by an active phase, when the psoriasis flares up, termed as the relapsing phase psoriasis is thought to be a disorder of autoimmune origin. Persons with psoriasis suffer an overactive immune system. The overactive immune cells, majorly T cells, cause skin inflammation and trigger the rapid skin cell growth. Psoriasis has a strong hereditary component. A person having a positive family history of psoriasis is at a high risk of suffering the condition Lifestyle changes can help manage psoriasis better Small changes in lifestyle can help manage psoriasis to a large extent. These measures include: Use mild soap while bathing Avoid bathing with warm water For excessively dry skin, apply coconut oil Quite smoking and alcohol Some sun exposure may help psoriasis while excessive exposure will worsen symptoms Stress management will reduce psoriasis flare-ups ointments merely suppress the skin complaint sun exposure helps heal psoriasis, though to a mild degree. Vitamin D plays a role in decreasing excessive cell production, and therefore helps treat psoriasis.

Dear lybrate user, hair growth occurs in cycles. Each cycle consists of a long growing phase (anagen), a short transitional phase (catagen) and a short resting phase (telogen). At the end of the resting phase, the hair falls out (exogen) and a new hair starts growing in the follicle beginning the cycle again. Normally, about 40 hairs reach the end of their resting phase each day and fall out. When more than 100 hairs fall out per day, clinical hair loss may occur. Hair loss have many causes such as:- 1) shrinkage of the hair follicles due to the influence of androgenic hormones. 2) under-nutrition of the hair due to fungal infection on the scalp. 3) effects of radio therapy or chemotherapy. 4) nutritional deficiencies. 5) autoimmune diseases. Modes of treatment for hairfall/alopecia includes surgical modes, oral medicine & local external application. The minimum duration of the course of oral medicines & external application is 6 months. You can start the following medications:- 1) take 5 drops of homeopathic sulphur 200, once in a week. 2) take 5 drops of homoeopathic selenium 200 every morning before brushing your teeth. 3) take 4 tablets from biochemic natrum mur 6x tablets, thrice daily. Just chew the tablets as those tablets are sweet in taste. 4) take homoeopathic mother tincture acid phos q, 30 drops, twice daily, after meals, in a cup of water. Kindly note that this medication may not be sufficient enough to take care of your problem. These medicines are based on the symptoms of your diseased condition & these medicines need to be complemented by further deep-acting remedies in order to permanently eliminate the underlying cause of the disease. So I would suggest you to consult me privately via lybrate as it is very necessary to diagnose the proper underlying cause of your problem if you are wishing for a permanent relief from your problems. A permanent annihilation of the underlying cause of the disease will not only provide you relief from your troubles but it will also cease any chance of further relapse of that particular disease condition.

I have pimples on my face and back and it's paining. When it breaks scars are formed. How can I get rid of it?

BHMS
Homeopath,
I have pimples on my face and back and it's paining. When it breaks scars are formed. How can I get rid of it?
Dear lybrate user, pimples/ acne vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory skin disease which develops due to blocking of the hair follicles in skin. These blockages occur due to 4 abnormal processes: 1) excess sebum production due to androgens 2) excessive deposition of the protein keratin leading to comedone formation 3) infection of propionibacterium acnes (p. Acnes) bacteria on the hair follicles 4) local release of pro-inflammatory chemicals in the skin. Neither can you stop the over-production of androgen or keratin protein nor can you stop the release of pro-inflammatory chemicals because all these processes takes place internally in your skin. However you can stop the accumulation of p. Acnes bacteria on your skin by preventing your skin from getting oily. Always keep a handkerchief with you wherever you go outside. You should wipe off the slightest amount of sweat from your face as soon as you perspire on entering your room from outside wash your face with an oil-free, non-moisturizing facewash. Take a low carbohydrate diet. Do some exercise daily. Drink a lots of water to avoid constipation. Avoid pricking the pimples or popping the sebum as it may lead to black pigmentation & permanent scar formation. You can also take homoeopathic calcarea phos 200, 5 drops, thrice daily, in empty stomach also you can apply homoeopathic mother tincture berberis aquifoium q on the dark spots on your skin which are produced after the resolution of the pimples.

Rubella is a contagious disease caused by a virus. It is also called German measles, but it is caused by a different virus than measles. Most people who get rubella usually have mild illness, with symptoms that can include a low-grade fever, sore throat, and a rash that starts on the face and spreads to the rest of the body. Some people may also have a headache, pink eye, and general discomfort before the rash appears. Rubella can cause a miscarriage or serious birth defects in an unborn baby if a woman is infected while she is pregnant. Rubella can be prevented with MMR vaccine. This protects against three diseases: measles, mumps, and rubella. CDC recommends children get two doses of MMR vaccine, starting with the first dose at 12 through 15 months of age, and the second dose at 4 through 6 years of age. Teens and adults also should also be up to date on their MMR vaccination.MMR vaccine is very safe and effective. One dose of the MMR vaccine is about 97% effective at preventing rubella.Children may also get MMRV vaccine, which protects against measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella (chickenpox). This vaccine is only licensed for use in children who are 12 months through 12 years of age. Symptoms of allergic reaction are Difficulty in breathing or swallowing hives itching, especially of feet or hands reddening of skin, especially around ears swelling of eyes, face, or inside of nose unusual tiredness or weakness (sudden and severe) Severity: Moderate If any of the following side effects occur while taking rubella virus vaccine, check with your doctor or nurse as soon as possible: Less common: Pain or tenderness of eyes Rare Bruising or purple spots on skin confusion convulsions (seizures) headache (severe or continuing) pain, numbness, or tingling of hands, arms, legs, or feet stiff neck unusual irritability vomiting Minor Side Effects Some rubella virus vaccine side effects may not need any medical attention. As your body gets used to the medicine these side effects may disappear. Your health care professional may be able to help you prevent or reduce these side effects, but do check with them if any of the following side effects continue, or if you are concerned about them: More common: Burning or stinging at place of injection skin rash swelling of glands in neck Less common: Aches or pain in joints headache (mild), sore throat, runny nose, or fever itching, swelling, redness, tenderness, or hard lump at place of injection nausea vague feeling of bodily discomfort The above side effects (especially aches or pain in joints) are more likely to occur in adults, particularly women. Some of the above side effects may not occur until 1 to 4 weeks after immunization and usually last less than 1 week. Aches or pain in joints may not occur until 1 to 10 weeks after immunization, and usually lasts less than 1 week. Check with your doctor if this side effect continues or is bothersome.

Hi, I can suggest you some home remedy for hair fall which is troubling you like many others. Hair fall is very common these days and chemical lotions are best avoided 1.Take the white of one egg and mix in a teaspoon of olive oil. 2.Beat to give a paste-like consistency and apply to the entire scalp and hair. 3.Keep it on for about 15 to 20 minutes and then rinse with cool water and a mild shampoo. Here are some easy tips to help avoid hair loss. Another method is to apply Aloe Vera Aloe Vera gel also works wonders. Massage the scalp with aloe gel, leave in for a few hours and then wash with lukewarm water. Aloe gel, coconut milk and wheat germ oil make a great hair conditioning treatment to help fight hair fall. Massage it on the scalp to reduce hair fall. 1.Wash hair without shampoo. 2.Apply coconut oil and do not shampoo, and leave it to dry. It will not make your hair oily as it will dry up in minutes.. 3.Look at the ingredients to find a mild shampoo. 4.Use a good hairbrush. 5.Try a scalp massage. 6.Test your hair for thinning if you're concerned.

Fungal Infection- Fight It This Summer !

1) Wear well dried clothes. Sweating increases chances of fungal infection, try to change clothes if they get wet due to sweating.

2) Bathing twice a day with a mild PH balanced cleanser will help in keeping your skin fresh and healthy.
3) Boost your immune system to keep the infections away- eat a lot of fruits and curd, keep yourself hydrated by drinking a lot of liquids.
4) If you already have fungal infection and itching, do not buy yourself creams from medical shops without consulting a skin doctor, they mostly give steroid containing creams which give you relief for a while but the infection comes back!
