please get in touch with a competent podiatric surgeon (a surgeon expert in handling diabetic foot problems). Along with that surgeon and your physician have to jointly help you to overcome this problem. It is a serious condition. If you do not take care further damage may occur.

Dear in diseases like diabetes and hypertension diet plays a major role. You have to keep a strict control on your food choices to control diabetes otherwise medications will help very little.

My sugar level is high after taking food. Insulin are used but it is not effective What should I do?

Homeopath, Murshidabad
My sugar level is high after taking food. Insulin are used but it is not effective
What should I do?
Dear lybrate user, one of the major nutritional substance required for human body is carbohydrate. We take carbohydrate in the form of rice, wheat, sugar etc. The complex molecules of carbohydrate are broken down into simple glucose molecules during digestion & released in the blood stream to be absorbed by the muscle cells. Muscle cells utilise the glucose molecules to release energy by breaking down those glucose molecules. Insulin hormone plays a vital role in the absorption of the glucose molecules by the muscle cells. In abnormal conditions, either due to less production of insulin or due to resistance to insulin, the process of absorption of glucose by the muscles comes to a stand still. The glucose molecules remains in the bloodstream which results in the increase in the blood sugar level. The failure of utilisation of the glucose molecules by the muscle cells results in production of less energy than normal condition. This is externally manifested as the fatigue & tiredness of the patient. This excess amount of blood sugar compels the kidney to function more than normal level in order to excrete the blood sugar molecules through urine. As a result the patient suffers from frequent urination. This abnormal condition is clinically known as diabetes mellitus. Once a patient is diagnosed with diabetes he has to take regular medicine to keep his blood sugar level within normal limits. Take homoeopathic mother tincture gymnema sylvestra q, 30 drops, thrice daily, after meals, in a cup of water. Also you need to walk at least 1 hour daily without any interval. Also you need to take a low carbohydrate rich diet. Avoid rice, sweet dishes, fruits, cold drinks, fast foods, alcoholic beverages, potato etc.

My aunt have uric acid, so kindly suggest what she should have to take (eatable) to minimize it and what not to take.
To reduce the uric acid levels in blood, you may need to limit intake of alcohol, sugary foods and reduce purine rich foods like meat, poultry, seafood and pulses. Vegetables such as cauliflower, asparagus, spinach, peas and mushroom also contain a lot of purines.

Mr. Lybrate-user, diabetes t2 is a preventable disease, so is high blood pressure. But t1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease and can not be prevented. Following healthy habits, exercising regularly, taking a balanced diet, avoiding junk food, alcohol and smoking can help a person healthy and free from diabetes (t2) and high blood pressure. But no one can remain totally disease free. Human skin colour can not be changed, whatever one might do or apply to it. One should accept the colour god has given. Taking various vitamin supplements without any deficiency is not going to benefit.

Is there a cure for diabetes in ayurveda? at least some effective medicines to keep blood sugar under check. If so, what are they? is it true that most ayurvedic medicines contain steroid components?

Cure may not be possible at this age. But we can effectively control sugar levels. But I wish you would consult. We need to assess your body constitution before prescribing medicines. Medications for diabetes will not be same for all, it will differ based on their constitution. No. None of our medications contain steroids. Only quacks use steroids. Steroids are not part of ayurveda at all. Please do not go by rumors. Consult a qualified person and you are in safe hands.

Hello I am taking thyroid medicine (thyrox-25) but can I take albendazole medicine which is worm medicine. Can it be safe. I want to take thyroid medicine as well as albendazole. please help.

Lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Thyroxine is taken early morning on emty stomach. Then nothing should be taken after that for at least 1 to 1 and half hour. Albendazole is to be taken at night, plus usually it is just one tablet or at times may be repeated after a fortnight. There is absolutely no problem in taking that if needed. Thanks.
