Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Actually pain at calf/leg region can be due to many reasons, commonly it is muscular in nature but it can also be due to tendons, nerves, blood vessels etc. My advise to you for initial 2-3 weeks will be: - ice packs application intensively with elevation of your limbs at night - take a short course of anti-inflammatory medication as per your body's suitability - stop your physical activity till pain completely subsides - intensive physical therapy, training and proper muscle conditioning once pain has subsided - slow resumption of physical activities with proper pre activity warm up and stretching of muscles and short increments in duration of physical activity each day as per pain tolerance. - we will get some blood tests for you - serum vitamin d and serum potassium levels, esr and crp once you have all these reports then you can contact me as I can advise you for proper supplementation do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Mr. lybrate-user, Hypothyroidism is a hormone deficiency disorder, hence there has to be a constant supplement of that hormone for lifetime. Therefore, treatment will have to go on for lifetime. If one is on treatment, then ideally TSH levels should be maintained between 3 to 4 mU/L, to be free from all the symptoms. Weight gain is in fact a common manifestation of hypothyroidism. So check TSH level and if it is higher than above mentioned, then there needs to be an increase in the dosage of thyroxine. Thanks.

Dear, Diabetes is often called the silent killer. Diabetes, is a metabolic disease in which sugar does not get metabolized properly in the body. This means that the blood sugar levels continue to be high, threatening the normal functioning of the body. According to Ayurveda There are 20 forms of Diabetes : 4 are due to Vata, 6 result from Pitta, and 10 are caused by Kapha. But Diabetes (MADHUMEHA) is.Mainly kapha dosha disease. Poorly managed diabetes can lead to a host of long-term complications like :- Heart attacks, Strokes, Blindness, Nerve damage, Amputation of Limb. when diabetes is uncontrolled in some people it does produce classical symptoms like excess hunger, excess urination and excess thirst, plus unexplained tiredness and weight loss may occur. If you are not on treatment then all these symptoms will keep occurring. Hence please start treatment immediately. Even if you feel hungry at night eating will increase blood sugar.

Hello, Thanks for the query. Please tell me the TSH value mentioned is after taking treatment with thyroxine or is it initially found value? Because if initial value is 7.38 mu/L, then it is considered as subclinical hypothyroidism, which does not need any treatment. However, if one has severe troublesome symptoms of that condition then treatment can be given. There is no special diet for hypothyroidism except that one has to avoid soy beans and soy containing foods. Plus consume a good deal of green leafy vegetables and fruits. Always use whole grain flour for chapati and roti. Avoid bakery items and foods made from maida. Also avoid saturated and trans fats to reduce LDL. Plus exercise daily for over 1 hour. Thanks.
