Symptoms and Treatment of Scabies

Infestation on the skin caused by a tiny insect called Sarcoptes scabiei, which live on the skin up to 2 months, is called Scabies. Reproduction occurs on the surface of the skin and later they tunnel into the skin and lay eggs. This forms an extremely irritated, pimple-like rash structure on the skin.

Despite the fact that scabies can be troublesome, the infestation can usually be dealt with successfully. Treatment commonly comprises of drugs that eliminate the scabies parasites and their eggs. Since scabies is so infectious, specialists usually prescribe treatment for a whole gathering of individuals who come in successive contact with people having scabies.

Symptoms: Typical symptoms such as rashes and intense itching, appear up to 6 weeks since initial exposure. Infected sores, which may require additional treatment, are formed due to continuous scratching. Common sites for occurrence in babies are head, neck, face and hands while in adults, it occurs on the wrist, elbow, waist, penis, armpits, etc. The rash comprises of small blisters or pimple-like knocks which are the tunnel tracks of the mite apparent on the skin.

A more severe form of the condition, called crusted scabies may be developed in some people. This condition which is highly contagious is marked by thick crusts containing thousands of eggs and mites which developed on the skin. It usually occurs in people with weak immune systems. The mites are capable of overpowering the immune system and multiplying at a higher rate.

Treatment: Typical treatment includes disposing of the infestation with medicine balms, creams, and moisturizers. It is advisable to apply the cream all over the body and at night, when the mites are active.
Amid the main week of treatment, it might appear as though the symptoms are worsening. Nonetheless, after the initial week, you'll see less tingling and you should have recovered by the fourth week of treatment.

Precautions should be taken to prevent re-infestation as the mites are capable of living up to 72 hours after being abolished from the body. All clothing must be washed with hot water (122F). This should be followed by drying of the items at a high temperature for half an hour. Finally, the dried items should be vacuumed.

Hi doctor my daughter 10 months old thumb sucking continuously I can't control her. Give me suggestions to control it.
Thumb sucking is not abnormal in that age. Dont try to forcibly stop it. It's a sort of gratification. If you're giving bottle feeding better to stop it.

Crp is a indirect test for infection and inflammation. No need to worry if the baby is feeding well and active. However your pediatrician will examine and tell you what to do. Above value is abnormal. Baby needs follow up with pediatric / neonatal consultant.

Breast milk is the best milk for an infant. Suckling the baby with peace of mind is the only solution for increasing milk production. You must drink good amount of water and take nutritious diet. If it's not at all possible to feed you can give nan 1.

Give more fibres in daily diet and plenty of water in a day. Constipation is easy to treat with fibre and green vegetables in diet in raw form rather then cooked form. Along with this you need medicines after showing to pediatrician, of course chronic constipation should be ruled out with thyroid problems for safer sake, and second condition causing the same is hirshprung's disease. Regards.

There is no need to start top milk but mothers milk and home made mashed easily digestible food should be gradually introduced. They are sufficient to meet the nutritional requirement of baby for proper growth and development. Introducing top milk in a breast fed baby at 6 months is MYTH.

Doctor, I have a daughter. I have small breast so less milk. How does fill my breast?

M.B.S.(HOMEO), MD - Homeopathy
Homeopath, Visakhapatnam
Fatty tissue is what gives the breast its rounded shape and protects the internal structures from injury. The amount of fatty tissue and the size of the breast are not related to the ability to produce milk, so small breasted women are just as capable of adequate milk production as the more amply endowed. Some of the most copious milk producers that I have encountered – including mothers of twins – have had very small breasts. When you’re lactating, your breasts produce milk constantly, and it accumulates in the milk ducts between feedings. When your baby nurses, he will empty out most of the milk in the breast – usually about 75 – 80%. Breastfeeding moms can produce an equal amount of milk over a 24 hour period regardless of the size of their breasts, but women with large breasts may have more ‘storage capacity’ than those with smaller breasts. That means that that a large breast may store more milk in reserve between feedings – sometimes several times as much as a small breast. For example: If a large breast contains 6 oz, and the baby takes 4 oz from each side at a feeding (8 oz total), that leaves about 2 oz in each breast (4 oz total) in reserve for the next feeding – in addition to the milk produced while the baby nurses. Smaller breasts may contain 4 oz in on each side. If the baby takes 3 oz on each side (6 oz total) per feeding, that leaves about 1 oz in reserve in each breast (2 oz total) for the next feeding, in addition to milk produced while the baby nurses. Because of this individual ‘storage capacity’, women with smaller breasts may need to nurse more often, because their babies may take in less per milk per feeding. Women with larger breasts may deliver more milk during each feeding, so the baby doesn’t need to nurse as often in a 24 hour period – or the baby may only take one breast per feeding.
