If the stone is small, it will pass in urine automatically. If it is large causing obstruction, It has to be treated by surgery. Take CT scan Abdomen/USG kUB and consult urologist with report for advice and treatment.

I undertake morning walk daily for one and half hours and cover about 7 kilometres. Due to development of this knee pain I am afraid of going for morning walk.

Hi thanks for your query. It' s only since last 3 days that you are having pain, it usually is due to inflammatory episode in knee degeneration which may lead to all this. But it is advisable to get a knee x ray to see how it looks like? do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Thanks & regards Dr Akshay Kumar Saxena

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You have back pain since a long time for which we will require evaluation. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like mri of your affected region of spine, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Thanks & regards

I have lower back pain + left buttock pain + numbness in left toe and big finger on left leg.

Dear M Vasanth, Good Evening! The symptoms you have mentioned briefly are suggestive of compression of nerve at lower back possibly due to lumbar disc pathology. Kindly visit Physiotherapist to get further clarity of problem and if the need be, you may need to have MRI scan as part of investigations. You can also visit Orthopedic / Neuro-surgeon for an opinion if the pain is quite intolerable or not improving with course of physiotherapy. At any time, if you experience problems with bladder & bowel (urinary retention, loss of control, numbness in groin / anal region - you must attend Emergency department of any hospital. I wish you a speedy recovery with your promptness to act. Best Wishes
