Is Lack Of Sexual Desire In Females Normal?

Is Lack Of Sexual Desire In Females Normal?

What is sexual desire?
It is the attraction that manifests itself in a physical way, which leads to sexual excitement, peak and intercourse for satisfactory sexual activity. This is considered a normal part of the physiological make up of human beings. Yet, there are individuals who suffer from complete lack of desire, which may be categorised as an often unnoticed health issue. This can affect both men and women. So what else should you know about lack of desire? Here's our list!

Lack of Desire for Women: Women often go through phases where they experience complete lack of sexual desire. This could be due to a variety of reasons, starting from hormonal changes to stress. This condition is usually known as Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder for women. This can be due to a combination of physical as well as mental factors.

Lack of Desire for Men: Lack of desire for men is usually characterised by a condition known as erectile dysfunction where the patient may have a problem in getting and retaining an erection for long enough to go through with a complete cycle of sexual activity. The causes for this may range from ailments like low testosterone, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, to stress.

Frequency: Contrary to popular belief, lack of sexual desire does not happen due to less frequency of sex, for either male or female patients. As per medical studies, there is no set behaviour or pattern that can create low sexual desire.

Relationship Issues: The issues may range from conflict and lack of performance as well as an utter lack of any kind of emotional stability and satisfaction in the relationship. This is one of the most common causes for lack of desire for both males and females. It may lead to complete lack of sexual interest for females, and stress that causes erectile dysfunction for males.

Sociocultural Stress: Many times, there are many sociocultural factors that affect conditions like lack of desire. This may include stress due to one's job or peer pressure. In many cases, constant exposure to media executed imagery and pornography can also lead to unreasonable expectations. This can lead to stress and lack of interest in one's partner.

Medical Issues: Lack of desire may also be a side effect of medical ailments like depression and other mental related problems. Also, chronic physical ailments like endometriosis, fibroids and thyroid disorders can lead to such problems. Lack of desire may happen due to certain types of medicines like anti-depressants and contraceptives. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Sexologist.

The Golden Milk

The Golden Milk
Popping pills before sleep can be avoided, if we use kitchen ingredients in our daily food intake.

Kitchen is a great pharmacy where spices are friends of a ‪dietitian and pride of the cooks.

Here is the ‪‎Golden Milk (Fat burner and good night sleep) recipe:

1. Add 100 ml of cow's milk to 50 ml of water.
2. Add 1/2 tsp of organic ‪‎turmeric powder (haldi), pinch of ‪cinnamon (dalchini), 1/4th tsp of ‪‎nutmug‬ powder (jaiphel) and pinch of ‪‎black pepper powder.
3. Simmer it till it boils.
4. Have this warm golden milk an hour before going to bed.

Additional Tip: Use turmeric and black pepper in daily cooking to bust physical and mental stress.

‪Caution‬: Please avoid this milk if you are a pregnant women or if you are taking blood thinners or diabetes medicines.

Hye. Thankyou for your query. Although laziness is common and a natural part of life, it has the potential to completely consume us. Laziness causes me you to feel trapped. No matter what  you do, you cannot seem to shake it off. You feel tired, you fall asleep constantly during the day, you sit around a lot and feel unable to be active, you avoid doing anything productive, and put on hold things that you want to accomplish. There are two kinds of laziness. First, there’s the kind where you have been working your head off for weeks and finally after all your hard work all you want to do is be lazy and do nothing. But then there’s the kind of laziness where you struggle to find motivation. Every time you think of something you would like to do or achieve, you cannot find the energy or drive to work toward it. This is the kind of laziness that is quite common. Being lazy is actually quite draining and depressing. Even the simplest task seems like a challenge. Here are some effective ways to overcome laziness. 1. Focus on just a few things at a time. We often create a big list of things that we want to do and achieve. Focusing on two or three things at a time will allow you to feel less overwhelmed. Instead, you will feel motivated, as your goals will now seem so much more achievable. People feel motivated when they feel they have a good chance of success. When success seems like it is just around the corner, suddenly you  get an amazing rush of energy where you feel liberated and excited to achieve bigger things. Set yourself two or three easy to achieve goals at a time, and you will notice that you will naturally gain inspiration and motivation. 2. Exercise. Exercise is the simplest way to overcome laziness. A lot of the time, we are lazy because completing a task seems too difficult. With exercising, you don’t have to figure anything out. You just have to make that one big decision to literally start moving your body (jump up and down, go for a run, or start doing lunges in your living room). You will find that you will become more willing to think about complicated things, such as working on a project or doing something that you have been avoiding. Exercise will help you break through that barrier of inertia and will help you feel motivated and more willing to put in effort. 3. Allow yourself time to relax and do the things you enjoy. Often you become lazy because a task seems too difficult. By relaxing and doing the things we enjoy, we allow ourselves to feel satisfied. When we are satisfied, we are more willing to take on bigger tasks and achieve bigger things. By relaxing and enjoying yourself, you also allow yourself to think about things, reflect, and feel inspired.

Should multivitamins be taken on regular basis or it should be cycled over a certain period of time?
Hi, any multivitamin should be taken after doctor's advise. If there is no medical condition, one can take them for 3-4 months daily once only then need to discontinue for another 3-4 months and if required, can be repeated for another 3-4 months.

I don't think there are any human studies to prove the safety or advantage of wheatgrass in pregnancy. Unless the safety aspect is confirmed by the manufacturer, it is best not to consume during pregnancy.

Hi Dr. I am taking novelon tablet. Is this tablet sideeffect of breast cancer. Breast cancer chances increase by taking this tablet somebody tell me about. Is this true. But my Dr. gave me this tablet 21 days course.

MBBS, MS - General Surgery
General Surgeon, Hyderabad
Novelon are contraceptive pills, it is known to cause breast tenderness or pain, abdominal pain, nausea, edema & head ache, at times skin rash, itching, sleeplessness etc. It contains low doses of female hormones, usage of this medicine inducing cancer breast is not known, however my suggestion is to look for alternative contraceptive methods like iucd's etc which your gynecologist can suggest.
