Whenever I wake up in morning, I still feel like tired, I am unable to open my eyes properly, so please suggest me.

FICO, DNB Ophtalmology
Ophthalmologist, Gandhinagar
Whenever I wake up in morning, I still feel like tired, I am unable to open my eyes properly, so please suggest me.
There may be multiple reasons for your complains: (1) inadequate sleep. Do you have an irregular sleep cycle? that may be the reason for your tiredness. (2) improper posture while sleeping. Do you sleep in odd positions such as face down? improper sleeping posture also may cause feelings of fatigue, etc. (3) allergy of the eyes. Certain allergies prevent proper eye opening and can cause a person to feel tired and fatigued. If you have allergy of the eyes, make it a point to maintain eye hygiene. Avoid rubbing your eyes with handkerchief or fingers. Start washing your eye daily with clean hands and clean water daily for 4-5 times. Use a lubricant eye drop and an antihistamine eye drop. Use both of them 4 times daily and maintain an interval of 10 minutes between 2 types of drops. (4) systemic issues. Are you on any systemic medications? if yes, that may be the cause for your tiredness. Excessive obesity leads to a phenomenon known as postural hypoventilation syndrome. This means that the person suffering from this problem has improper breathing during sleep and has occasional periods of suffocation as well. Thus, this should be taken seriously and treatment should be sought from a physician. (5) excessive drinking and smoking may also cause the symptoms of tiredness and inability to open eye completely. This is an avoidable cause. All said and done, you should maintain eye hygiene by washing eyes regularly. Avoid rubbing your eyes with any form of cloth or your fingers. If your problems persist, it would be a better idea to consult an eye specialist in person and get your eyes checked and examined thoroughly. Hope my suggestions helped you-take care-regards.

Sir, my right eye is blinking since 5 days, what's should I do, what's the cause. Please advise some medicine.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)

Sir, my right eye is blinking since 5 days, what's should I do, what's the cause. Please advise some medicine.
Most abnormal blinking or twitching of the eye clears up quickly , within a few hours of when the symptoms appear. Similarly, if the eye feels tired or dry or the eyelid feels heavy, the problems usually go away quite quickly. If the blinking or eyelid twitching does not respond to treatment or is continuously blinking for a few days, one possible cause is an eye dystonia (the medical term for this is Blepharospasm). Symptoms include increased blinking and involuntary closure of the eyelids. Also sometimes the eye feels tired or dry or the eyelid heavy. The symptoms of eye dystonia vary and may be one or more of the following: Excessive / uncontrollable blinking Twitching around the eyes where the twitching does not go away Dry or gritty eyes, but where the treatment for dry eyes does not work Sensitivity to bright lights and sunshine. For some people the flickering of a television or computer screen can also trigger the spasms The eyelids feel heavy frequently or the eyes feel tired and these feelings don't go away. Symptoms may become more obvious and troublesome when tired, reading, stressed, driving, or around bright lights and sunshine, or in windy or dusty environments. Eye dystonia commonly appears in people between the ages of 50 and 70 but does sometimes affect younger people. It is one form of dystonia – a condition that causes uncontrollable and often painful muscle contractions believed to be as a result of incorrect messages from the brain to the muscles. Dystonia is a neurological movement disorder Homoeopthic medicine GELSEMIUM 30 ( Dr Reckeweg) Drink 1 drop direct on tongue evert 1-3 hrly depending upon frequency of blinking eyes. If problem persists even after usage of this medicine for 5 days, consult a Neurologist

What should I do.
Hi, tired, dry eyes do get red. Wear a good brand uv-protected sunglasses in the sunlight, keep yourself well hydrated by drinking 10-12 glasses of water in a day. Include the following for getting better vision: include vitamins a, c, e, and minerals like copper and zinc which are essential for eyes. Get the antioxidants from dark leafy greens, egg yolks, yellow peppers, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, and carrots. Include garlic and onions. Blueberries, grapes as they have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Dha is a fatty acid found in coldwater fish like salmon, sardines and mackerel. Insufficient sleep may weaken your vision, so shoot for 8 hours of sound sleep a night. Rest your eyes 10 minutes for every 50 minutes spent reading or in front of the computer. If your eyes feel overly tired, lie down and place cooling cucumber slices over your eyelids. Medication: instill euphrasia eye drops twice a day. Thereafter, revert back for further guidance.

Hi, you need to wear spectacles while studying, working on computer or smartphone. Include the following for getting better vision: vitamins a, c, e, and minerals like copper and zinc are essential to eyesight. Get the antioxidants from dark leafy greens, egg yolks, yellow peppers, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, and carrots. Include garlic and onions. Blueberries, grapes as they have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that can help improve your vision. Dha is a fatty acid found in coldwater fish like salmon, sardines and mackerel. Exercises for strengthening eye muscles: -begin by partially closing your eyes; the lids should only be halfway shut. After holding for 10-15 seconds, close your eyes very slowly. Take a few deep breaths to increase oxygen in the blood. -warm your eyes. Rub your palms together to create heat, and then place them against your eyes for five seconds. Repeat this three times. -hold a pen at arm's length. Focus your gaze on the tip of the pen. Bring the pen closer to your nose at a slow and steady pace. Repeat this exercise 5-10 times. -concentrate your vision on the tip of your nose. Then shift your gaze to an object further away, either at arm's length or 20 feet away. Then shift your eyes back to the tip of your nose. Repeat this exercise 10 times. -sit in a relaxed but upright position. Begin by look to the left-most position (without moving your head) and hold to stretch your eye muscles. Hold for 5 counts. Blink and return your gaze back to look straight in front of you. Then look to the right-most position with your gaze and hold for 5 counts. Repeat 3 times, blinking between each hold. Then, repeat this exercise looking up and then down. Do not forget about blinking. -sit in a relaxed but upright position. Look up and to your right for 5 seconds. Return your gaze to center. Look up to and to your left for 5 seconds. Return your gaze to center. Look down and to your right for 5 seconds. Return your gaze to center. Look down and to your left for 5 seconds.
