Hello!

I am Dr. Rameshwar Madhukar Rao Gutte. I am MD Dermatologist and I am also hair transplant surgeon. Today I am going to talk about one of my favourite area that is hair transplant. We are doing it since last 5 years also we have done lots of cases with very great results and almost zero complications. What we do is, in hair transplant, we take some of the hair from the back side of the scalp which is permanent hair zone and bring them on the bald area or the recipient area or the bald patch which you want to cover. It is done under local anaesthesia so it is a very safe procedure and when you are doing the hair transplant designing proper hairline, giving a natural look to the patient is very important.

We are doing it with one of the latest and advanced technologies that is FUE ( Follicular Unit Extraction) technique which is very safe. There is no cut any stitch so it is scarless stitchless and almost painless. One can join his work very early and there is no admission need so it is very safe and it gives very good results also. After the surgery is done regrowth may take some time so it requires patience from your side. Regrowth may start from 3rd to 4th month and it will take around 8 to 10 months to see the complete results.

It is very important to choose your doctor properly who is very qualified and has a good experience in hair transplant with proper operation theatre so that things don't go wrong. That's about the head transplant. I hope this information was helpful to you. If you have any doubts you can contact me through my website on my facebook page.

Hair Loss - PRP Treatment For It!

FCPS (SKIN & VD), MD (Skin & VD), DDV (SKIN &VD), MBBS

Hair Loss - PRP Treatment For It!

PRP treatment for hair loss is a treatment that includes drawing back a patient's own blood, preparing and processing it in a way that only the patient’s PRP (platelet-rich plasma) cells remain, and then it is infused it into the scalp. PRP contains basic proteins that help in regular hair development.

This is how the platelet rich plasma treatment functions:

  1. PRP works by drawing and transforming the dead hair follicles into a working development stage.
  2. Your blood contains little cells called platelets that help in blood clot formation.
  3. Platelets additionally contain particular elements that when activated, help in tissue recovery and generation.
  4. These same elements may enable hair to develop or moderate the hair loss.
  5. Blood is drawn and afterwards spun in an axis, which helps in isolating the platelet rich plasma from whatever remains of the blood.
  6. Local anesthesia is given to the scalp so the patient feels no pain at all.
  7. The platelet rich plasma is then infused into the scalp. No sedation or prescription is required.
  8. Early recovery requires an administration of each nine to eighteen months.

Results may vary from person to person. However, all the treatments have shown optimistic results so far. It should not be considered a “cure” for hair loss since no guarantees can be taken as yet. Some people might feel that this is not suitable for them.

There are a few ways in which you can know whether this treatment is ideal for you or not:

You are not a great candidate for this treatment if you:

  • Have medical conditions, for example, liver diseases, skin infections or cancer of any type and any metabolic and systemic disorders.
  • Have experienced anti-coagulation treatment
  • If you have any kind of platelet disorders or dysfunctions.

This treatment is also not suitable for people who have:

  • Extremely sensitive skin
  • Baldness that might be hereditary due to some other disease unknown to you
  • In case you have other diseases, the causes and symptoms of which are unknown
  • If you are pregnant
  • If you are undergoing chemotherapy
  • If you have any type of problems in your brain

Those who have been clinically approved to go ahead with this surgery usually include people who are physically healthy and do not suffer from any type of chronic illness or diseases. Before you consult with a doctor and agree upon undergoing this surgery, make sure that you give the specialist, your entire medical history and let them know about each and every problem your body has had or has gone through so that you avoid any kind of risks in the future.

Acne Myths Debunked - Know The Facts!

Acne Myths Debunked - Know The Facts!

Acne can be frustrating and annoying. A lot of unnecessary chaos can be avoided if people get the facts right.

1. Myth: Adults do not suffer from acne problems
Truth: While acne outbreaks are common amongst teenagers, adults are not spared either. In adults, the acne problems are essentially of two types; the late onset acne and the persistent acne. In many cases, it has been observed that the acne problems appear at a later period, mostly after 23 to 25 years of age (late onset acne). At other times, the unwanted acne outbreaks that mark its appearance during the teenage years linger for a longer period (persistent acne type).

2. Myth: A person's eating habits and lifestyle has no role to play in acne
Truth: Lifestyle and eating habits can influence a person's health. Excessive intake of sweets and simple carbohydrates can worsen the acne. Stress, fatigue, lack of proper sleep, can also aggravate the already frustrating acne problem.

3. Myth: Acne results from dirty skin, with adult men and women being equally affected
Truth: The Pilosebaceous unit of the skin plays a pivotal role in acne outbreaks. The oil producing gland (Sebaceous gland) of this unit acts as the main control. Certain hormones regulate the activity and size of this gland. An increase in the size of the sebaceous gland results in an increased oil secretion. The skin pores become very sticky. These pores serve as a host, into which the acne causing bacteria, P. acnes multiples.

Adult women are more prone to acne than their male counterparts. This is because, hormonal imbalance or alterations affects adult females more. Women often suffer from acne during menstruation.

4. Myth: Acne can spread from one person to another
Truth: More than often, acne is seen as a contagious dermatological problem. Though caused by the bacteria P. acnes, acne is not contagious. It is rather foolish to maintain a distance from the affected individual.

5. Myth: Acne is a minor problem and needs no medical intervention
Truth: Going for self-medication can do the acne more harm than good. Acne is influenced by a number of internal as well as external factors (stress, hormonal imbalance, unhealthy lifestyle). For an effective treatment, it is important to identify the root cause. It is best to consult a dermatologist at the earliest.

6. Myth: In case of acne, the face should be frequently washed and cleansed
Truth: Ideally, the face should be washed twice daily with a gentle cleanser. Some people get eternal pleasure in squeezing the heads of the spot. This can damage your skin beyond repair.

Do not allow acne problems to affect your self-confidence. Acne can be cured. Do not fall for the baseless myths.

Microdermabrasion - What Exactly It Does?

Microdermabrasion - What Exactly It Does?

For glowing, bright skin, it is important that it is maintained well. The skin has multiple layers, and over a period of time, due to constant exposure to pollution and dust, the top layers become worn out and lack lustre. Once these top layers are removed, the underlying layers which are fresher can help in giving the skin a much younger and brighter look.

Removal of the dead cells is one of the important aspects of skin care, and microdermabrasion does just that and gives a younger, glowing skin.

Microdermabrasion – What it Does?
There are tiny particles, which are abrasive in nature, which are used on the skin. These by their abrasive and cleansing nature, remove the top layers, making way for fresher skin from the subsequent layers. It is very similar to a facial, except that an instrument is used, which will generate mild heat, which helps in removing the top dead cells.

This procedure, which takes about 45 minutes, creates a gentle vacuum which removes dead cells. In addition,

  1. It improves circulation so that the cheeks turn rosy again
  2. It reduces wrinkles and fine lines that appear as part of ageing. In fact, microdermabrasion is one of the most widely used anti-ageing treatments currently.
  3. It improves dullness, by removing the top dead layers and provides skin with a fresh lease of life (and cells!)
  4. It reduces appearance of age spots which are due to increased pigmentation and makes skin even and less rough
  5. Reduces damage caused by the sun
  6. Scars (from any injury)
  7. Removes blackheads and whiteheads

What to Expect:

  1. It is usually done in the outpatient setting, and no anesthesia is required
  2. Any chemical treatment to the affected area should be stopped 2 days ahead
  3. Discuss with your doctor about your regular medications, which might require change
  4. Continue using the sunscreen
  5. Do not wear makeup on the day of the treatment
  6. There is heat generated during the process, so there could be redness, mild swelling, and tenderness
  7. After the procedure, avoid direct sun exposure for at least 2 to 3 days
  8. Do not use any chemicals on the area for at least 3 days
  9. Do not use saunas or steam for about a week
  10. Face should be washed multiple times, either with plain water, or with a gentle face wash
  11. Repeat sessions, if required, will be done after 3 to 4 weeks depending on the condition and your response

Microdermabrasion is one of the most widely used skin polishing techniques and talk to your doctor to find out if it can help bring your skin back to life!! In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

Glycolic Peel - Are You The Right Candidate?

Glycolic Peel - Are You The Right Candidate?

Gycolic peels can significantly improve the appearance of the skin. This is a type of treatment that involves applying a chemical solution that makes the skin blister followed by peeling it off. The new skin that generates is less wrinkled and smoother. This treatment can successfully reduce lines under the mouth and the eyes, treat acne, improve scars, treat skin damaged by sun burn and wrinkles, improve the look and feel of the skin. It must be noted that the skin becomes very sensitive after a gycolic peel treatment. It, therefore, makes sense to wear sunscreen and refrain from direct exposure to UV rays.

Who is an ideal candidate for a gycolic peel?
Both fair-skin and dark-skinned people are suited for this treatment. The success rate and the effectiveness of this treatment depend on the condition for which a candidate being treated for. People with extremely dark complexion may not be well suited for this treatment.

How to get started?
Before going ahead with the treatment, it makes sense to discuss any underlying condition with the dermatologist. A history of cold sores and scarring should be discussed. If a person is undergoing any medication, it should be informed to the doctor prior to the treatment. A dermatologist often stops other medicine and prescribe skin meds such as Retin-A, Renova etc. to prepare the skin for the treatment. Furthermore, certain antiviral and antibiotic medicine can be prescribed to treat the certain underlying condition before resuming the treatment. An open discussion with the doctor about the depth of the peel is necessary to set the expectation straight.

How is the procedure performed?
Gycolic peel is an outpatient procedure. An overnight stay at the hospital is not necessary. The skin is thoroughly cleaned. The skin is then applied with a solution such as salicylic acid, glycolic acid, trichloroacetic acid, carbolic acid etc to a very limited area of the skin. It results in a controlled wound and the new skin fill up the wound within hours. A burning sensation can be felt for a span of 10 minutes followed by a sensation of stinging. A doctor might prescribe pain medication and suggest cool compressor to reduce the uneasiness.

What to expect after the procedure?
A sunburn-like reaction is witnessed after the procedure. This is followed by scaling that lasts for about a week. Peels can be repeated within weeks to get the exact look a person seeks. The procedure might result in crust, blister, and patches. The area is bandaged after the procedure is performed. Sunlight needs to be strictly avoided since the new skin very fragile and sensitive to the powerful rays of the sun.

Hair Brush - How To Choose The Right One?

Hair Brush - How To Choose The Right One?

It is natural to get overwhelmed and bewildered while walking down the aisle containing a dizzying variety of hair brushes. Most get confused when it comes to choosing the right one. It is a fact that the right type of hair brush can help a lot in keeping up the natural texture of the hair as well as the look you are willing to achieve. Here is a brief guide that can help you get hold of the hair brush you had been longing for.

How important is the bristles type of the hair brush?
When it comes to the bristles of the hair brush, some are synthetic while some are natural or a combination of both these variants. The natural bristles are acquired from boars, and they can help in the cleaning of the scalp and the hair. They are easy and trouble free on the scalp and cause minimal breakage. Many people are of the opinion that the hair brush with natural bristles lasts longer than the synthetic ones.
If you are looking for a cheaper alternative to natural brushes, then you can go for the synthetic ones made from nylon. This type of hair brushes functions by sliding through the fine hair. Hence, people with thick hair should put in considerable research properly before opting for synthetic bristles. Also, you must make sure that the bristles don’t melt under excessive heat.

What are the different types of hair brushes?
There are several types of hair brushes available and here are some of them:

  1. Vent brush: This type of brush is efficient for taming frizziness and detangling your hair. It is absolutely a must-have for short to medium length hair and can also be used as a tool for blow-drying. The vent brushes allow faster drying. They can also add volume to the hair.
  2. Round metal brush: A go-to brush for big bouncy hair, round metal brush, can be your best choice if you are looking to add volume while blow drying. There is an extensive range of shapes and sizes available, and you should choose one as per your needs and brush features. With the advent of newer technologies, you can also get a ceramic and ionic brush.
  3. Paddle brush: This one is also available in various shapes and sizes. You can go for the smaller ones that you may carry on the go while the large ones are best pieces to style at home. They are typically available in square or round shape, and they can smooth and detangle rough, frizzy hair effortlessly. If you have medium length fine hair, they can be a great aid while blow drying.

With this information, it will be easier for you to prioritize your needs and settle for the best hair brush within your budget.

Hair Loss - 6 Derma Treatments You Can Go For!

Hair Loss - 6 Derma Treatments You Can Go For!

Loss of hair can have adverse effects on your physical as well as mental health. Not only does hair loss affect your self-esteem or appeal, it also hints at an underlying health problem. There could be many reasons for the loss of hair. ‘Alopecia areata’ is a condition wherein sudden loss of hair begins with one or more circular bald patches that might or might not overlap.

Some of the common cosmetic treatments for hair loss include:

  1. Hair Grafting or Transplant: Hair transplant or grafting is a procedure that uses surgery to move hair follicles from one spot in the body to another and is mainly used to treat male pattern baldness. The transplantations are carried out in outpatient form, with local anaesthesia and mild sedation. Harvesting of hair follicles is done using various methods, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Some of the common harvesting techniques are:
  2. Strip Harvesting: A strip of skin from the scalp or from any other spot where there is good growth of hair is harvested by the surgeon.
  3. Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE): Follicular Unit Extraction is a procedure which involves the singular extraction of each hair follicle without any removal of strip of tissue.
  4. Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT): Follicular Unit Transplant involves the removal of a small strip of tissue from the rear part of the head. The donor hair follicles would be extracted from this strip.
  5. Robotic Hair Restoration: The devices associated with Robotic Hair Restoration utilize robotic arms and cameras to provide assistance to the surgeon during the FUE procedure.
  6. Scalp Reduction: This cosmetic procedure involves removal of skin (non-hair-bearing) from the scalp, which ensures that the remaining skin (hair-bearing) can be extended to the area that it is capable of covering the bald spots on the head. This procedure is effective in covering bald areas on the back as well as top of the head. However, it is not favourable for the hairline in the frontal areas of the head.

Pigmentation - Derma Treatments That Can Help You!

Pigmentation - Derma Treatments That Can Help You!

Skin pigmentation disorders are dermatological complications that make the skin look lighter or darker than usual; your body produces either too much or too little of melanin which is a pigment that protects the body from ultraviolet rays and imparts color to the eyes, hair and skin. Hyper pigmentation is a condition wherein your body produces too much of melanin.

Causes

Pigmentation disorders are caused due to internal as well as external factors. The internal factors include pregnancy, hormonal imbalances and endothelial cells. The external factors include exposure to UV rays, burns, effects of certain chemicals, dietary imbalances, stress and other underlying disorders.

Types of hyper-pigmentation

  • Lentigines, also known as liver spots, are associated with aging and exposure to UV rays
  • Melasma is mainly associated with pregnancy, caused due to hormonal fluctuations
  • Albinism, caused due to complete lack of melanin which causes excessively white skin and hair
  • Vitiligo, a condition that develops on the wrists and the hands, due to lightening or de-pigmentation of the skin

Complex Treatments of Pigmentation

  1. Laser surfacing: This is a surgical procedure in which laser is used for improving the appearance of your skin. It also corrects the facial flaws by removing the outer layers of your skin. The following are two types of Laser Surfacing:
  2. Carbon dioxide: This kind of laser is used for treating wrinkles, scars, and warts. Erbium laser removes the superficial and moderately deeper lines and marks from the hands, face, chest and neck.
  3. Dermabrasion: In this procedure, a wire brush or diamond wheel with rough edges is used for removing and leveling the upper layer of the skin. The area treated heals and new skin forms at the site. It is mostly used for facial correction. It may take a few weeks or even months for getting the desired results. This technique can be successfully applied on scars, superficial acne scars, skin growths, age spots, skin lesions, sun-damaged skin and crow’s feet.
  4. Chemical peelThis technique is applied for correcting pigmentation from the neck, face and hands. A chemical solution is rubbed on the skin that gets exfoliated and eventually peels off. The new skin that grows in its place is less prone to wrinkling, but is more sensitive to the sun. There are a few types of chemical peels; such as Superficial or lunchtime peel, Medium peel and Deep peel.

Know Everything About Aesthetic Dermatology!

Aesthetic dermatology is another word for cosmetic dermatology. This branch of science aims to work on the way a person looks. It involves procedures that can rid you of pimples, acne, skin pigmentation, birthmark or may be a mole. It is often argued that aesthetic surgery can't be called medical because it in no way deals in disorders or diseases, that is to say it doesn't treat root causes.

However, constant discoveries and research in the field of cosmetic surgery have shown how greatly they can treat skin problems and can improve your physical appearance. Aesthetic surgery mainly focuses on facial skin. It is wrong to think only film personalities or media professionals go in for these modes of treatment. Many people, who feel inadequate because of their looks, opt for these procedures. Aesthetic surgery is indeed a boon for they relieve you of psychological pressure.

Different ways in which it helps you:

  1. Treats chronic skin conditions and surface blackheads: Blue light therapy successfully fights bacteria, thus preventing the growth of acne. It has also been used to get rid of eczema, which is a discomforting condition with serious symptoms like irritable and itchy skin. Comedo extraction is possible through chemical Peels. Chemical peels can work wonders with a patchy, discolored skin and facial blackheads.
  2. Fat injections and liposuction: So many people wish to have full lips. This is possible with the help of fat injections. Injecting collagen or fat deposits, having extracted them from some other part of your body, can give you fuller lips. Liposuction can be used to remove excess fat from your body further making your skin look taut.
  3. Treats spider veins: Does your face resemble a leaf with bluish purple veins showing? If yes, you probably have spider veins. Spider veins can be cured with the help of laser treatment. Exposure to laser can repair capillary breakages while it makes the veins regain their original size.
  4. It can manage hair loss: Uncontrollable hair loss is depressing for both men and women. Clinical studies have found out injecting plasma, rich in platelets, into the scalp can accelerate hair growth
  5. It helps in decreasing pore size: Botox is a tried and tested way to reduce the size of your skin pores. As you age, increased pore size leads to a dull skin. Botox can help you look young.
  6. A reliable cure for cellulite: Fibrous bands often show on the skin of your hands, thighs and neck. It creates a dimpling effect that makes you look saggy and fat. Cellfina is a procedure in aesthetic dermatology, capable of treating cellulite. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a dermatologist.

5 Tips to Prevent Cellulitis

5 Tips to Prevent Cellulitis

Cellulitis is a common contagious bacterial skin infection marked by redness and swelling of the skin that feels tender and hot. It usually occurs when bacteria penetrate through a crack or a cut on the skin’s surface. Although cellulitis can develop anywhere over the face or the body, it is your lower legs that are affected the most. It damages the tissues beneath the skin, spreading to the bloodstream and the lymph nodes. If left untreated, the infection might get aggravated and turn fatal.

Prevention:

In case of a recurrence, preventive antibiotics may be recommended by the doctor. Adopting the below mentioned precautionary measures can help:

1. Gently rinse the wound with soap and water on a daily basis, whenever you go in for a shower.

2. Apply an antibiotic ointment or a cream over the wound to get adequate protection.

3. Use a bandage to dress your wound and change it daily.

4. Watch out for signs of infections such as pain and redness and accordingly go for medical help.

5. People with diabetes often suffer from poor blood circulation. They require extra precautions in order to prevent any skin injury:

Minutely check for signs of injury, failing which you might be even more susceptible to infections.

  1. Moisturize and lubricate your skin daily to prevent peeling and cracking.

  2. Trim your toenails and fingernails carefully so that they do not injure the ambient skin.

  3. Wear appropriate gloves and footwear to protect your feet and hands.

  4. Treat any infection developing on the skin surface at the right time because they might be contagious.

If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor.
