Hi, my age is 62 years old. I had been diagnosed with type II diabetes and the medicines I have been taking are as follows:- Metformin 1000 mg 1xod Metformin 500 mg 1xhs glimepiride 2 mg 1xbd clopid 75 mg 1xod atorvastatin 20 mg 1xhs The above medicines have been taken regularly for past three months. Now I have taken the blood test two days ago. The result is as follows:- FBS 149 PPBS 235 HbA1c 6.0 Serum urea 24 mg/dl serum creatinine 0.89 serum Uric acid 5.3 Liver Function Test Total Bilirubin 0.78 SGOT 50 SGPT 58 LIPID Profile Total cholesterol 135 Triglycerides 121 HDL 46 LDL 65 I request a diagnosis of my status of health. I go for swimming once in a while and find no problem in swimming for about 700 metres in about one hour (that is 14 lengths in a lap of 50 metres each) I am muscular and have a athletic body and have no other symptoms. I love drinking alcohol and have about three pegs of 60 ml each every night most days. Should I stop drinking. I can muster enough will if the kind doctor says so. Thanking you in anticipation.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for your query. I have gone through all the details given including lab values. All the values seem to be well within normal limits, except SGOT & SGPT. Both are slightly high, signifying some affection of liver functions. It points to one thing clearly that is to reduce alcohol intake. It should be preferably one or two days in a week plus much lesser in quantity. Thanks.

Age: 36 years First Trimester: 10 weeks pregnant Location: India Since week 6 of pregnancy, diagnosed with Bronchitis. Dry cough is persistent, white or light color mucous in morning. Constant cough while lying down. Difficulty in swallowing food and pain in throat is present. My Gynecologist and Physician have refused medicines for bronchitis as I am pregnant. I am taking foliate [folic acid medicine for pregnancy]. As advised I am only taking steam for some relief from cough. Apply pranacharya face glow on your face for 15 minutes then wash it with warm water. Take pranacharya b clean syrup 2-2 tsf twice a day. Take pranacharya allergin capsule 1-1 twice a day. Wash your face with any good ayurvedic soap containing neem etc.

Hello, you are a male going to be 21yrs. So, chances are very less to increase height. But, you can start taking homoeopathic medicines which are safe to take without any side-effects - Bakson's Gro-up drops/ 10 drops and Five Phos. - both thrice daily and Thuja 1M/ one dose once a week - take them for 1 month only. Management: Take milk and milk products which contains more calcium. More of protein (for cell multiplication) like pulses, legumes, sprouts, nuts, flaxseeds, non-veg, eggs, etc. Also, don't forget to take green vegetables, yellow veggies and fruits, seasonal fruits, salads, etc. Do skip rope daily, initially 10-20 times later gradually and slowly increase the frequency as per your capacity. Do get indulge in stretch exercises, and sports like basketball, volleyball. Last but not least, do take enough of rest and sleep (which helps in repairing of cells and cell rejuvenation). Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need coronoplasty (smoothen teeth edges) along with t. Rebagen 10, morning one tab & one at night for 5 days, c. Becosules 5 cap, for five days in the morning after meals. Hexigel ointment on the area of ulcer. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash after every meals. You may consult me in person. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical. Strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush.

Hi! you can do masturbation 2 times a week, more than this is harmful. Daily masturbation is definitely harmful for future married life. Excessive masturbation can cause problems in bearing child. It can cause erectile dysfunction, early ejaculation, sperms count and size problem of penis and body weakness and memory problem also in the long run.

Our body mind complex works in two modes. When it is in peace mode we feel relaxed, peaceful. When we are facing any danger it gets converted to war mode. It is fight or flight reflex useful for survival. We feel anxiety, fear or anger in this mode. Our blood supply gets redistributed in this mode. Our big muscles in limbs get more blood while digestive system gets little, heart rate and breathing rate get increased and blood sugar level is also increased. Because of these changes we can jump high or run fast but if we live in this mode for long term it can cause many diseases, lack of concentration, panic attacks and fatigue. We can change our unnecessary war mode by deep breathing, meditation and improving self awareness. It is skill and anyone can master it by regular practice.

Hye. Thanks for the query. Maintaining body weight is not a one time effort that you try, succeed or fail or drop the actions that take you there. You are what you eat. Your weight is nothing but a balance of how much you eat and how much you burn or exercise. Understanding this art of balance will make it easy to maintain your body weight. Walking, swimming, strength training as well as eating are all calorie burning processes. Along with this if you eat sensibly; then you will see the scales move. There is no short cut to losing weight. You have to eat the right foods at the right time. Eat small but frequent meals. Reduce your main meals by a small amount. Take a glass of lime water 10 minutes before meals. Avoid long gaps in between meals. Avoid junk as far as possible. Exercise at least 4 times a week. Lastly be committed. Remember it's a lifestyle change and not a one time thing. It's a balanced intake that will last you longer. All the so called fad, crash diets, medicines, pills or supplements will only give you muscle and bone loss. The fats will remain as it is. So, lose that fat not muscle mass.

Hi, by improving your digestive system, you can increase your weight. 1. You must focus on getting the maximum nutrition out of the food that you are eating and digest that. To improve your digestive powers, you can take chitrakadi vati after meal and ashwagandha churna with water twice a day. 2. You can also have milk and milk products eg butter, ghee, etc along with banana shake.

Hi salauddin - incorporate more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains into your diet while eliminating unhealthy foods. - if you are working or studying away from home, try to pack healthy lunch and snacks for yourself to avoid eating unhealthy food daily. - don't eat straight from the packet - use a plate or bowl to control how much you eat. - don't delay or skip meals. - cut down your consumption of aerated drinks and sodas. - drink at least 8 glasses of water every day. Drink water after waking up and before sleeping. Being dehydrated may make you feel like you're hungry, so it is important to stay hydrated. - have homemade fruit and vegetable juices - eat 5-6 small healthy meals every 2-3 hours, every day, instead of having a few big ones. This regulates your blood sugar level and your metabolism. - don't skip breakfast, instead, make it rich with complex carbohydrates and proteins, so it can provide you with energy to get through the day. Try to include the following as your morning breakfast, oats porridge, eggs on multigrain toast or daliya with sprouts. - avoid artificial sweeteners in processed foods. - eat slowly as it takes about 20 minutes for your brain to register if you're full or not. Eating too fast leads to overeating, so chew slowly to digest your food better and control how much you eat. - use a smaller plate to control your portion sizes and avoid overeating. - know your cravings and do not snack when you're emotional. It is said that you crave crunchy and savory food when you're stressed, frustrated or lonely. Figure out what you crave and replace them with healthier alternatives. - do not eat mindlessly; concentrate on your food instead of watching tv or playing with your phone to avoid overeating.
