6 do's and don'ts of healthy eating habits

Do's

1. Try to eat more unprocessed foods


Use fresh ingredients like vegetables, eggs, milk, lean meat etc to prepare your meals in and try to avoid consumption of processed food as far as possible. In most cases, processed food items are loaded with preservatives, added chemical substances, sweeteners, fats and artificial colours, which should be avoided to maintain good health. Also, make sure to include lots of fresh fruits, nuts and legumes in your daily diet instead of fruit juices, instant noodles or frozen food items.

2. Include whole grains in your diet

Whole grains have a lesser glycemic index (figure that measures the ability of carbohydrates to increase glucose in your blood), which makes them a healthy food option. Whole grains keep you full for long hours while providing you with energy to concentrate at work throughout the day. When it comes to taste, the flavour and nuttiness of whole grains are superior to refined ones. So, prefer wholegrain bread, pasta or brown rice when choosing your food items.

3. Monitor your serving sizes

Monitoring the amount of what you eat is important as it helps you to limit your intake of unhealthy food. Also, ensure that the amount of food you eat for dinner is lesser than that of your lunch. Ideally, for lunch, you should ensure that half your meal consists of salad or vegetables and the other half should contain lean proteins and low-gi or whole grain carbs in equal amounts.

Don'ts

1. Skip breakfast

Breakfast is considered to be the most significant meal of the day. Make it a habit to have breakfast every day as skipping this meal can adversely affect your health by causing obesity, irritated mood, and headaches while increasing your risks of getting hypoglycaemia (deficiency of glucose in your bloodstream).

2. Eat excessively saturated fat

Try to minimise your intake of food containing saturated fats as this can lead to the accumulation of weight in different parts of your body. Instead of consuming, huge amounts of milk, cheese, butter, bacon, meat etc. Switch to low-fat substitutes like white-meat chicken, reduced-fat dairy products, soy versions of traditional meat etc.

3. Give up your entire diet plan for a small mistake

If you happen to make only one dieting mistake, don't feel disappointed and start munching on unhealthy or junk food. Just remember that eating large amounts of unhealthy food can nullify all the effects of healthy eating you have experienced so far.

vegetables, fruits. Don’t over eat. Avoid junk, spicy, oily, high calorie, cholesterol rich diet don’t skip your breakfast. Take warm, homemade food. Avoid food and drink from outside. Don’t skip or postpone your meal. Minimize consumption of refined grains like white rice, white bread, sugary or refined food. 2. Keep hydrated- Drink 2 liters /6-8 glasses of water daily 3. Do regular exercise for one hour daily like brisk walking/Jugging etc 4. Take adequate rest- 7-8 hours of sound sleep in the night is required to remain healthy 5. Avoid stress, anxiety, depression, agitation etc 6. Find time for relaxation and enjoyments with friends and family 7. Practice yoga, meditation and deep breathing exercise to calm your mind, control emotion, improve concentration and relieve stress 8.Avoid smoking, consumptionof tobacco and Alcohol

Hi. As all of us know that one need 6-9hrs. of sound sleep. Now the culture and work hours in BPOs is different, the person's body gets habituated and adapted accordingly. But as you are a student, always better to study in daytime or may be till late hours and sleep at night as natural light is more beneficial than studying under an artificial one and to get sound sleep, it's only possible at night when there is pin drop silence!

I am having cough for more than 10 days days, I try 3 cough syrup but still not having result.

1. Do warm saline gurgling 3-4 times daily 2. Take viscodyne d syrup 2tsf thrice daily if it is a dry cough or viscodyne syrup if cough is associated with sputum 3. You may have to take antibiotic along with and carry out investigations including x ray chest after consulting physician, it if no relief4. Avoid smoking if you smoke.

Since you have gained weight recently and is also young you can easily lose the weight gained. Weight loss should be sustainable you need to what to eat how much to eat and when to eat. Small frequent meals low in carbs and fat and high in protein is needed. You also need to increase your bmr which help you in easy and sustainable weight loss. My son 15 years old was suffering continuous fever from 14th May-30th and cured only after admitting him hospital for 3 days and no improvement by medicine and nothing diagnosed even after repeated blood test of WIDAL, malaria, urine, and finally diagnosed typhoid by WIDAL-IGM test. Typhoid fever can relapse if it was not adequately treated by full course of antibiotics. A multi pronged approach. But alongwith I would suggest you do an x ray chest and ultrasound abdomen to rule out any other pathology ie disease.

Headache in evenings after coming to home from work place can be due to many reasons 1.Eye strain due to improper lightening in your shop whether low or excessive lightening 2.Stress/Tension due to Overwork/Money 3.Improper posture of sitting at shop either attending customers,watching high/low positioned TV or Computor leading to stretched cervical nerves. 4.Hungry due to skipping your lunch or Dehydration due to less intake of water due to overwork 5.Strong smelling items in your shop like Perfumes,cosmetics,or many other things like chemicals etc. 6.Any underlying problem you already are suffering from like Weak eyesight,Frequent Upper Respiratory tract infections,Cervical Spondilosis,hypertension to name a few. How can you overcome headaches other than underlying causes- 1.hydrate yourself by drinking water when you enter your house 2.Rearrange tour work place,your TV,Computor,Counter so that light is proper and you watch TV /Comp by not staining your neck. 3.Be active at work place,don’t sit in one posture.walk for few minutes every hour,don’t follow the same routine in your workplace 4.Dont arrive at shop with empty stomach as hunger can trigger headache,have a light breakfast,and at workplace try to take every 2 hourly either a fruit,tea,biscuits etc. 5.ventilate your shop properly so that you don’t feel suffocation 6.have a proper 8 hour sleep at night and try to sleep early while dinner early and a distance of minimum 1 hour between dinner and sleep. 7.Have a minimum 25 minutes Morning walk 5 days a week. 8.Consult your Doctor for Underlying causes.

Fever is not considered medically significant until body temperature is above 100.4 F (38 C). Fever serves as one of the body's natural defences against bacteria and viruses which cannot live at a higher temperatures. Also, the body's defence mechanisms seem to work more efficiently at a higher temperature -Fevers of 104 F (40 C) or higher may be dangerous and demand immediate treatments like: -Acetaminophen (dolo-650 mg) twice or thrice can be used to lower a fever . Aspirin should not be used for fever in children/ adolescents or during a viral illness. -Wear loose fitting clothes and don’t overdress. Overdressing can cause temperature to rise further. -Tepid water (85 F [30 C]) bathsmay help bring down a fever. -The body should be cooled with a wet sponge. -A fever can cause severe dehydration. Drink plenty of fluids.. Have citrus fruits, particularly Vitamin C rich ones like mausami,Amla juice etc. -Take light and easily digestible home cooked meals .avoid outside food -Wash hands frequently with soap and water especially after returning from public places or public transport. -Further therapy depends on the cause of fever like urinary infection/typhoid or malaria/dengue infection and the accompanying symptoms that need to be investigated and treated accordingly

I am 30 years old unmarried guy from India now located at china. I have several lipomas mostly on my hand & now it is noticed in belly & thigh. Before 3-4 years nothing was there but last few yrs hard to believe now I have several. Although most doctor says no problem but it does not looks good & I am worried about it. Dear there are many reasons for breathlessness like anaemia, hypothyroidism, heart disease, lungs disease...Pls elaborate ur question.. Get ur HB% checked. or consult a general physician for clinical corelation..B/W U can try tips below for a week.. Boil cumin seeds in water and inhale the steam. It helps dilate the bronchial passage. Take 5 gm of ginger, black pepper, cardamom, clove, cinnamon, turmeric and 30 gm of sugar. Grind the mix to a powder. Take half to one teaspoonful and mix it nicely with honey. Take it twice a day
