Hi lybrate-user, if your skin is acne prone, you will tend to develop dark spots too. Both conditions can be well treated. Acne requires a proper medical treatment and post acne care for dark spots/scares which are commonly associated with acne. Apart from medical treatment which includes ointments for local application and oral medications if required, for long term benefits advanced treatments available these are, peels, rf and enriched oxygen therapy. These are highly recommended. These help both conditions acne and spots. Depending on your condition, barely peeling may not benefit you. You may require local and oral medications which I can prescribe you. I would be happy to help you. Please consult me privately so that I can understand your problem in detail and help you.

I would suggest you to use a mild/gentle cleanser for face wash, twice daily e.g cetaphil or sebamed cleansing lotion. You may use a topical antibacterial e.g clindamycin or benzoyl peroxide gel just as a spot treatment for active acne or milia during day time. At night you may use a topical retinoid e.g Adapalene gel, over the whole affected area. Topical retinoids are antiinflammatory as well as comedolytic; therefore they help with both preexisting acne as well as prevent new acne formation. Topical retinoids also help fade away the pigmentation/dark spots/PIH as a result of acne and from irritation to salicylic acid.

I have little deep eyes and dark circles. My dermatologist suggested to go for under eye fillers. Is it good and safe. Or I should avoid. Please answer.

Dark circles don't have a one-stop solution or home remedy. Sunken eyes won't respond to creams or medicines. They specifically require filling agents. Also, darkness develops when you rub your eyes, so avoid doing so. Catch at least six hours of sleep everyday. Correct any visual errors with the help of an ophthalmologist. Eat iron rich food. Avoid eye chemicals and hair dyes. Too much time reading, watching television or with the computer can enhance darkness. So cut down on all this.Fillers are completely safe natural products, they are basically sugars, non animal stabilised hyaluronic acid.if done with experienced doctors, there's nothing to worry about.

Hi, Since few months (2 months precisely). I observed that moles are coming up frequently on my face. And they are in large numbers. Is there any way to stop them. Please suggest something as soon as possible. Thanks,

MBBS, Diploma in Venerology & Dermatology (DVD)
Dermatologist, Delhi
Moles are often present at birth, but they can develop later in life, and sun exposure is a common cause. While most moles are not cancerous, all new moles and existing moles should be checked from time to time by a doctor. However, there are some things you can do to prevent the formation of moles on your face and body. Step 1 Avoid the sun at the brightest time of the day. According to MayoClinic.com, you should avoid the sun from 10 a.m. To 4 p.m. Because ultraviolet rays are at their most intense during that period. Step 2 Use adequate sunscreen every time you go out in the sun. Apply 20 to 30 minutes before going out in the sun. Step 3 Reapply your sunscreen every two hours. This is especially important if you are swimming or playing sports where sunscreen can easily come off. Avoid water or excessive perspiration for 30 minutes after reapplying your sunscreen. Step 4 Wear a hat or protective headgear when in the sun. Protective headgear should not replace sunscreen, but serve to further protect from harmful UV rays. You can get the existing moles removed by a board certified dermatologist via laser treatment.
