Suckiing thumb abd weight loss are not related and this habit will go away as she grows up. You try putting a thimble over the finger and see if it distracts her.

Hair growth take it own time. Halke halke hair in 15 days is quite normal. If there is no disease either of scalp or no deficiency in diet, hair shall be good. You can not change hair according to your liking.

I have a problem of bedwetting. I am suffering from my childhood so please help me to cure this problem as it is not good for me.

MBBS MD DCH, Dch
Pediatrician, Muzaffarpur
I have a problem of bedwetting. I am suffering from my childhood so please help me to cure this problem as it is not ...
Well bedwetting also known as nocturnal enuresis is not uncommon in childhood due to immaturity of full urinary bladder which fails to send signal to brain to awaken the child. Most cases have genetic predisposition (familial tendency). Invariably the condition remits once the child grows up. It is uncommon to persist in adolescent age group. What to do then? it is first desirable to rule out any structural or functional anamoly of urinary tract. Once ruled out then following measures help a lot. 1 toilet training: to hold urine during day time to strengthen/enhance bladder capacity 2 to void urine 2 hours prior to sleep 3 no water/liquid intake within 2 hours of sleep. 4 role of drugs like imipramine is limited. There is relapse once medicine is stopped 5 wet bed alarm bell has been found to be very effective as with single drop of urine passed during sleep shall alarm the bell and person shall go the toilet for completion voiding 6 I have found with mentat syrup very encouraging results. 7 the family support is required! 8 there is nothing to be disappointed. You shall overcome this problem slowly but surely

M.D.( Pediatrics), DCH
Pediatrician,
Appropriate and timely response to newborn's emotional need is must to develop secure type of attachment.Babies are born with intelligent brain and have basic survival instincts that leads to different working models for defence which are carried through adult life. First two years of life are very important for forming individual attachment type and lot depends on nature of primary caregiver's (mother in most cases) response to child,s emotional needs

Hi my baby from 8 days he have more motion 10-12 a day s it normal .and he s just 2.5 kg I wanna increase his weight ...
Frequent motion is normal in small babies as they have gastrocolic refles after feed. So nothing to worry. Continue breast feeding. Watch for frequency of urination. If it is more than 6 times per day, nothing to worry.

My kid is 7 months old now and I wish to nurse him at least for 6 more months. I feel there is a reduction in milk quantity. Started taking Galact granules 2 months back but did not find it boost the milk supply. Please suggest diet to increase milk supply.

The key to more milk is more suckling. The more your baby suckles, the more milk your body produces. Expressing breastmilk frequently would also boost production. Since your baby is 7 months old, your baby needs fresh, home cooked food along with breastmilk.

Sir, my son 2 years old is suffering with heavy fever from 22 feb 2017, after treatment of oral based on our doctor's...
Rise in CRP alone can not diagnose a patient having sepsis. CRP can be rised in simple cold with high grade fever also and once the fever resolved and decreases CRP came down as you have mentioned. LRTI can be diagnosed by examining patients chest. It can be viral or bacterial and CRP can be rised in any of them. This much antibiotics or medication is not required in LRTI and none in viral. Sepsis is related to complications if it is in real present. Blood culture and patients symptoms both if looked in a 2 year child can confirm sepsis. Chest X-ray with examination of patient will confirm LRTI. In any case though if such big injections are started they have to be given for atleast 5 days if really needed. But problem what happened here is that antibiotics has been already started so blood culture if done at this stage may grow no organism. In this case patient can be looked symptomatically and has to be examined, get a blood culture if not done, Chest x ray is a must if some one said LRTI. All things need to be evaluated.

Hi, My daughter is 2 years and 10 months old now. She doesn't like to eat any food even sweets or ice cream. She eats only baby food. That also takes 1 hour to finish each time. When she sees any food she starts to cry and then run away. She doesn't want to chew any food we eat. If I force, she will swallow and then vomit. I allowed her hungry for a day. But no use. I tried many tips like decorative food and all. But it didn't help. How can I get her to chew food?

Some children are fussy about eating. You have to check her thyroid by doing TSH and inform me. You patiently keep trying and she will eat in due course. You make eating a pleasurable trick or game for her. YOU tell her weight and as she grows up she will eat as seen in many children.

Baby girl aged 2 years had slight temperature for the last two days, she was administered acetominofin and she is under control, but yesterday we observed a slight swelling on the lower part behind her ear. What might be the reason for this. This is not paining and she is quite normal otherwise.

Pediatrician, Jalandhar
Could be a simple lymph node. Very common in this age group. Its normal. If its not painful then its not a cause of concern. Its normal physiology of childhood. Dont waste your time and money on it. Let it be.

Are there any long-term effects associated with taking ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) medications? If so, what are they and what medications are implicated?

Headache, insomnia, fatigue & hematological disorders are observed in such medicines but benifits outweigh side effects, rescheduling doses will take care of most side effects.

My son is 8 years old he is too weak in health but his diet is good but don't know the problem, he is too weak.

MD - Paediatrics, Diploma in Child Health (DCH), Postgraduate Diploma in Adolescent Pediatrics

This is not adequate information. Many parents equate thin build with weakness .The child will have to get a proper growth and development evaluation and his past history and growth records will have to be scrutinised before we can arrive at any conclusion.
