I have red eyes what should I do now where should I go explain me what to do now please help me to get out of this. Thank you.

FPRS, DNB Ophtalmology
Ophthalmologist, Pune
Dear lybrate user, red eyes could be because of many reasons but commonly it is due to allergy or infection. You need to visit eye specialist to differentiate between the two as the treatment is different. Also get your eyes checked for any glass power.

I am using contact lenses from last 3 months and now I want to undergo lasik laser. Please guide.

Fellowship in Comprehensive Ophthalmology, DOMS
Ophthalmologist, Sangrur
Hello lasik is very good option to get rid of glasses Doctor will perform few tests (Schirmer test, Pentacam and Fundus examination) and if all tests are normal then you can go for lasik surgery without fear. Success rate of LASIK is over 96%. Side effects may vary from minimal like mild dryness, DALK, haloes, glare to severe like infection (very rare). Precaution include: a. Avoid face/head wash for 1 week b. Avoid swimming /water sports for 6 weeks c. Avoid eye make up for 6 weeks Cost :depends on Type of lasik which varies from 25000 for standard lasik to 1.10 lacs for SMILE lasik For more details, you can read my health tip on LASIK.

Hi. Photophobia is a symptom of abnormal intolerance to visual perception of light. As a medical symptom, photophobia is not a morbid fear or phobia, but an experience of discomfort or pain to the eyes due to light exposure or by presence of actual physical sensitivity of the eyes.

You are seeking help and this itself is a step forward. Since you are on medication for a long time, please don't stop the medicines without consulting your doctor. Yes, medicines do have some side effects, but if you don't take these prescribed medicines, the result will be worse. You need psychotherapy. Kindly get in touch with a counsellor who will explore with you, the history of these attacks, what are the triggers now and how to manage it. You said you cannot go anywhere without medicines and" mother" what do you mean by that? are you not confidant to move around without your mother? it appears to me that you are underconfident and are not used to taking responsibilities. Your excess sleep and not eating food indicate stress. Your facial shock also might be the result of overall anxiety and low self esteem. Kindly see a counsellor. Please understand that we all have the ability to acquire" life skills" undergoing therapy and learning certain skills will certainly help you. All the best.

FPRS, DNB Ophtalmology

could be due to allergy allergy can be controlled easily using eye drops. But there are many eye drops and specific eye drops can only be prescribed after seeing the eye clinically as treatment depends on severity. also dip a handkerchief in little cold water and keep over closed eyes.. you will feel better

My question about my eyes. My eye side is getting worst day by day. I wear glasses but without it I can't even watch. Please suggest me.

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello, you should do these exercises to strengthen the eye muscles. Warm your eyes. Rub your palms together to create heat, and then place them against your eyes for five seconds. Repeat this three times. Roll your eyes. Start by looking up and then slowly circle 10 times clockwise and 10 times counterclockwise. Focus. Hold a pen at arm's length, focus your eyes on it, and slowly bring the pen closer until it's about 6 inches away from your nose. Then slowly move it back, keeping your eyes focused on the pen, 10 times in all. Massage your temples. Using your thumb knuckles, massage your temples in small circles, 20 times in one direction and 20 in the other. Repeat the same actions above the mid-point of the eyebrows at the forehead, then below the eyes on both sides of the bridge of the nose. Take a mini-nap. Put your head back, close your eyes, and relax for 3 minutes. Insufficient sleep may weaken your vision, so shoot for 8 hours of sound sleep a night. Rest your eyes 10 minutes for every 50 minutes spent reading or in front of the computer. If your eyes feel overly tired, lie down and place cooling cucumber slices over your eyelids. Medication:- Use CMD2 eye drops, 2 drop in each eye twice daily. Take homoeopathic medicine which will help you in preventing rather reducing the power of your eyes. Take Physostigma 6/ thrice daily for 1 month. Thereafter, revert back for further guidance.

Hello, i am a 21 year eng. Student my eyesight is 6/12 for both eyes and correctable to 6/6 with glasses and power of my eyes are -4.5. Will I be eligible for defense forces like Indian army. Quoted text below is what written in their site.

Defence rules are quite stringent. Though your vision is 6/6 which is normal with glasses, some positions demand the same vision without glasses. Please do confirm with the authorities.

My eye is so much paining and I cannot see so far and also my eye is palpitating. pls tell what to do?

DOMS, MBBS
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
Get your refraction done and wear spectacles eat green veggies. Carrots. Strain less your eyes. Relax your eyes in between work. Blink regularily if working for long time on computer. Lower the brightness of your screen. Work under adequately illuminated conditions. If needed wear corrective spectacles. Get your refraction done and wear spectacle. Is that pain associated with redness, diminution of vision or any other symptoms? if yes then it's of infective origin. Else if none of these present and you are using /not using glasses in either case get your refraction done. May be the number might have changed. If your vision is normal, you have to go for orthoptic checkups which may be probable cause for asthenopic symptoms.
