I have a 10 months old baby girl. Mine was a c-section and I am suffering from a very bad back pain since my delivery. So can you please suggest me wat to do to get rid of this back pain.

Hello, thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. It has been seen in a lot of females that they start having pain after deliveries. Actually there is no physiological reason for it, but it is mainly contributed by weak back muscles, lack of physical activity, lack of exposure to sunlight which can lead to vitamin d deficiency besides other reasons. My advise for you initially would be: - to maintain proper posture while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication which suits you but if your lactating then it will be wise to ask your pediatrician before taking any medication - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings, traveling on uneven surfaces for long time. Please let me know how you are feeling after 2-3 weeks of initial conservative management, then we will see what further investigations we require for you. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Chronic pain in the region of tail bone is called as coccydynia, can you specify whether there was any history of previous injury to tail bone area? you can start with sitz bath, use soft cushioned surfaces for sitting, now a days coccydynia seats are available which take the pressure off from the inflamed area, use gentle anti inflammatory medications like tab etoshine, or tab paracetamol for pain relief. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance or if your pain is not getting relieved as we may require some tests for evaluation. You can also discuss your case and treatment plans with me in a greater detail in a private consultation.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. It is a chronic inflammatory joint disease which has a genetic predisposition. Since this is a genetically linked disease hence as of now there is no permanent cure for it, but new medications are available which help in disease control. You need a very active lifestyle with intensive regular physical therapy, take adequate calcium and vitamin d supplementation you also need to be in touch of a rheumatologist as it needs a long term supervised care. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You can also discuss your case and treatment plans with me in a greater detail in a private consultation.

lybrate-user hi, regards ,from what you have described I understand that you are able to carry out your day to day activities without difficulty. I suggest that for the pain which you experience during the night might be postural. Please use a good ergonomical mattress which will support your back during your sleep. Your posture while sleeping matters the most .revert for further help.

OSTEOARTHRITIS-A CRIPPLING CONDITION

4 ways to put off joint replacement
Tip #1: Lose weight: For every extra pound you carry, you put about three pounds of additional pressure on your knees and multiply the pressure on your hips by six. If you have arthritis, losing just 15 pounds can cut your knee pain in half.

Tip #2: Take care when using your joints: Poor posture and using the wrong techniques during your daily activities add more stress to damaged joints. By standing up straight instead of slouching, you can protect the joints in your neck, hips, and knees. Also use the proper technique when lifting or carrying anything heavy. If any activity hurts, stop doing it right away.

Tip #3: Try nonsurgical approaches before turning to surgery: Treatment with steroids is one approach. Benefits can last anywhere from four to six months. However, this doesn't work for everyone. Visco supplementation involves injecting a lubricating fluid into damaged knee joints to treat osteoarthritis

Tip #4: Get pain relief: Instead of heading straight to your doctor to treat sore joints, try taking an over-the-counter pain reliever. Take them for the shortest possible time to relieve your discomfort. There is also some evidence that the dietary supplement glucosamine chondroitin can lead to subtle improvements in arthritis pain.

Hi You may see a physician for tremors diagnosis after gradual giving up alcohol and intake of vitamin B complex, B6,B1B12, methycobalamin supplements. A neurologist can help rule out Parkinson's or badal ganglia disease causing similar symptoms. Another cause is liver ,after long addiction and heavy alcoholism, liver function tests and ultrasound for liver, pancreas may be required. Diabetes and thyroid function tests for other common reasons may also be screened.
