My mother is a diabetic patient. How can she recover their self from major effect of diabetes?
If she has t2 dm then she must start appropriate treatment with anti diabetic drugs oral or insulin injection. If she has already started the treatment then it is good. Please understand diabetes occurs due to either deficiency of insulin secreted by islets of langerhans beta cells. So it can only be controlled by drugs, diet snd exercise. There is no cure. She also is overweight with a bmi of 27.72 kg/m2 ideal weight for her is 37 kgs. To achieve good control you have to aim at fasting closer to 100mg and pp should be 150 to 160 mg. And hba1c% <7. Drugs, diet and exercise are important aspect of treatment.

For the last 04 months I have got abnormal heart beat together with nerve beat. This has happened 04 times since Oct. 15. No chest pain experienced nor any kind of giddiness. Doctor told that some nerve is giving current and unless it is identified, the palpitation will keep taking place. It is also noted that BP also fluctuating and a 25 my tablet has been prescribed and am taking same since 03 months. It is stated by doctor that it is not a heart disease. I hv been regular smoker for past 30 years. Now hv stopped smoking/drinking. Facing jammed of lungs, especially of left lung. Mucus from left lung moving within inside and I feel as if some liquid is moving inside when I take a sleep on the bed. Eco done by doctor states normal functioning of heart. The cause abnormal heart beat and abnormal beating of pulse is not known. For the past one month the average BP is 115_72. Pulse below 55. What is this syndrome and what to be the treatment. Pls advise both.

you are having tachycardia may be due to nervousness, stress,strain, and anxiety neurosis.. as you have checked up your heart and lung xray normal.your blood pressure is within nor!mal limits but you are having bradycardia means low pulce rate may be fight from beginning which some people have it or it could be by medicine like beta blocker for hypertension where the pulse rate low.smoking causes deposit of nicotine in the lung alveoli. which is very vital for respiratory system. so don't smoke it will be alright.

We all are aware of the fact that our height increases up to a particular age and then it comes to a halt. Height increases up to the age of 18years in women and up to the age of 20 years in men. Increase in height is attributed to the production of growth hormone, called the HGH( Human Growth Hormone), which is secreted by the pituitary gland called the master gland of our body. It is rather difficult to increase height after reaching adulthood as the production of these hormones slowly stops. In most cases, the epiphyses of the long bones are fused as the last bits of cartilaginous tissue in the bones turn into solid hard bones. This prevents any further growth in longer bones. However, if the hormones are released naturally, increase in height can be observed. I always feel so tired. Even if I eat so much. After eating I couldn't easily digest my food. Due to which gas arises in my stomach. I don't do most of the daily work due to tiredness and indigestion. At the same tym I have gain so much weight. I couldn't understand whether all these leads me to sleepy or I am sleepy and lazy person that's why I have problem's like tiredness and indigestion. please suggest me some medicine for energy and digestion. Mr. Lybrate-user I think you have digestion related problem. So you should take easily digestible food, which you may digest properly. Due to indigestion you feal tiredness and weakness. You take food in digestible limit. If you have constipation, remove it to drink lemonated warm water300-500 ml. Early in morning 30 minutes walk before defecations. Avoid non veg. Bakery products and fast food.

Sir, I had an unprotected sex last month around 2nd april just after the period and after that I hd taken contraceptive pills-unwanted 72 within 72 hours. But later after few weeks I had problem with urine as it was coming with some blood drops and blood cloths, later I went to a doctor and they had taken my urine sample for test and she said I had some infection so she had given some antibiotics and urikind sachet and advice to have plenty of water. But now the problem is that there is one week delay from my periods as it last happened on 27th march and now for today I am having stomach pain and loose motions, and for preventive measures I had taken pregnancy test at the time of visiting my doctor and later on 29th april and it shows negative result. relax. sex within few days of periods rarely makes you pregnant. also you took I pill. so after I pill . period may be delayed.

To clear the scar marks - • Apply one teaspoon Besan with one teaspoon of curd and a pinch of haldi (turmeric) mix it with water then apply for 15 minutes then rinse off it with water. • Apply one teaspoon orange juice or take a piece of orange open it then apply that area for 5 minutes then rinse off it. *Take fuller, s earth (multani mitti) and sandalwood powder (chandan powder) mixed in same quantity mixed in water and apply on the mark in night and wash it after 1 hour. It will slowly removes the marks. *Take a piece of aloe vera. Apply gel of leaves on mark daily. Wash it after 30 minutes.

This is a very vital time and you will need some help from a counselor. I suspect that the adolescent issues with regard to hormones may be affecting your ability to concentrate and remember. When the hormones play up, it lasts for a period of close to two years and during that time you could be influenced by three signs directly impacted by the chemical: you will tend to become aggressive and rebellious, you will become sexually active, and you will have acne and pimple problems. The hormonal imbalances may not only impact your memory because of the chemical but also bring some distractions that come with it. But you may work on the following even if the hormones kick in: Daily exercise of at least half an hour is a must. Even if you go to a gym, ask for aerobic and/or callisthenic exercises with whatever else you are doing. A healthy body harbors a healthy mind. With regard to memory, it is very important that your brain and body is ideally rested to be able to recall whatever is required, rather comfortably. Puzzles pose problems to the brain that help it to use new pathways and neurons, which give the brain considerable exercise. It taxes the left brain to use logic to solve the myriad possibilities which other activities do not stimulate. Crosswords are excellent for vocabulary learning and use. Jigsaws and Rubik cube stimulate different permutations to finally settle on the most likely one. Picture completion and anagrams help approach problem-solving from several angles. Do Sudoku, and memory co-relation activities and skills. Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber (whole grains, fruits and vegetables), nuts, avocado, eat dark chocolate, consume less of fat and use olive oil instead, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. You need to check out if you are stronger visual or auditory. The visual is a better mode than the auditory. However, if you combine the two modes, you will get the best concentration. Have a special place of learning, which should be well lit, with soft painted walls, well-ventilated, with no distractions. When you get bored, study by writing. If you repeat learning, at least, five to seven times, you will apparently remember for a longer time. Sit comfortably but do not slouch. The reading material should be of a fairly large print. Study at small intervals of about 40 minutes and then take a break or change the subject. Short-term memory is a faculty of the left brain, and long-term memory is a feature of the right brain. When people are stressed, they tend to favor the right brain and abandon the left brain, where short-term memory resides. So, it is really very simple: deal with the stress and activate left brain functions. Here are a few suggestions to activate left brain function: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. There is a new exercise called Super Brain Yoga, which is done by holding the right earlobe with your left thumb and index finger, and the left earlobe with your right hand’s thumb and index finger. In this position, you must squat down and rise up and do this for five minutes every day. There is some memory enhancing techniques and study methods that your teacher will be able to guide you with. If your home life is full of distractions and stress, it is likely to affect your memory, adversely. In that case, I suggest that the family goes for counseling too. The following foods do help too: Blueberries, walnuts, turmeric, Spinach, tomatoes, broccoli, acorn squash, green tea, oily fish, boiled egg, turkey, apples, oatmeal, leafy greens, lentils, pumpkin seeds, avocado, cinnamon, thyme, sunflower seeds, and red wine. Avoid sugar and junk food. You may also include these noted foods that are good for your brain health: Brain-Friendly Foods MIND stands for Mediterranean-DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay. But the MIND approach “specifically includes foods and nutrients that medical literature and data show to be good for the brain, such as berries,” says Martha Clare Morris, ScD, director of nutrition and nutritional epidemiology at Rush University Medical Center. You eat things from these 10 food groups: •Green leafy vegetables (like spinach and salad greens): At least six servings a week •Other vegetables: At least one a day •Nuts: Five servings a week •Berries: Two or more servings a week •Beans: At least three servings a week •Whole grains: Three or more servings a day •Fish: Once a week •Poultry (like chicken or turkey): Two times a week •Olive oil: Use it as your main cooking oil. •Wine: One glass a day You avoid: •Red meat: Less than four servings a week •Butter and margarine: Less than a tablespoon daily •Cheese: Less than one serving a week •Pastries and sweets: Less than five servings a week •Fried or fast food: Less than one serving a week.

Dear lybrate-user, Do as follows: 1. Hadjod capsule (Himalaya company)- 1 capsule twice daily 30 minutes after food with lukewarm milk. 2. Ksheer bala 101 oil softgel capsule (Kottakal ayurveda company) - 1 capsule twice daily with lukewarm water 30 minutes before food. 3. Ostranil oil (Salveo Company) - massage twice daily on painful joint followed with hot water fomentation with towel. Avoid long time standing and folding of knees. Thanks

I will suggest you to stop licking the lips and use some plain lip balm without any flavouring agents. That will help in protecting your lips. Rest of the treatment can be given only after seeing the condition.

I am 75 years old diabetic and bp also. I suffer constipation in spite of consuming plenty of food contains fibre. I do not get the urge to go to toilet. I feel my muscle in the rectum is not pushing the stool and water is absorbed and solid mass stool comes out after lot of effort. Lease let me know what is the real problem.

These are the methods to treat pimples - •Steam your face to open the pores, which in turn clear the skin. Steam your face for a couple of minutes. • Do YOGASANA daily. Especially do SINHASANA & SARVANGASANA daily. • Use oil free face wash and drink 7 -8 glass of water daily. • Do not touch your face again & again because your finger transfer bacteria to it and make it worse. If you touch it then clean your face with water. • Mix black pepper powder in some water to make paste & apply on the pimples three times a week. • Take cucumber and papaya pulp. Mix it well and add 1 tablespoon Turmeric. Make a paste and apply it on face and leave it for 15 minutes. • Take 2 teaspoon of RAKTSHODHAK syrup of BAIDYANATH company once a day after meals
