On 18th November 2015 (my 50th birthday) I visited a psychiatrist for the first time for my suspected depression. After trying various drugs I am now taking VILAZODONE 20 mg. What is the history behind this drug, what are it's benefits over older antidepressants such as Prozac etc. And what indicators does the psychiatrist look for to discontinue this medication?

Vilazodone is a new drug recently introduced in india. It has additional mechanisms of action over prozac or fluoxetine. Antidepressant response can be unpredictable such that a person not responding to prozac may respond to vilazodone although vice versa is also possible. Prozac can cause temporary difficulty in erection and increase ejaculation time. Sexual side effects are reportedly less likely with vilazodone although it may be more sedating than prozac. Eat a lot of proteins and vitamin containing fruits and vegetables. Sleep well. Massage your scalp with warm oil. Treat dandruff and if you have low hemoglobin eat iron rich food.

Hi for discoloration of teeth ; 2 pinch of salt & pour mustard oil on that to mix, apply on yr gums n teeth. It helps in bad breath, gingivitis & discoloration. Have a nice day.

I am of 20 and I got 4-5 times Ankle sprain in my life till now and is of 2-3 grade. Recently it happened last to last week. The ligament name ATFL is injured all time time I got sprain. Hye. Thankyou for the query. The weight you lost is not healthy weight. You have lost a lot of muscle mass and not much of fat which makes you prone to many conditions of malnourishment. You could be deficient in some nutrients and have reduced immunity. Such weight loss is not healthy hence you always gain back all the lost weight and much more. Try to concentrate on a nutritious diet so that you don't land up with some serious illness.

TCA - Trichloroacetic Acid Peel

TCA - Trichloroacetic Acid Peel

A Form of Resurfacing: The TCA (trichloroacetic acid) peel is one of the oldest forms of skin resurfacing. Skin resurfacing refers to use of an agent or device to remove layers of skin, thereby allowing newer, refreshed skin to grow in its place. Dermabrasion and lasers are also used for skin resurfacing. Chemical peels such as TCA and phenol have been around for many years and have a long track record of success.

A TCA peel can be used as a mild, medium, or deep chemical formulation; this relates to the depth of penetration of the acid. The depth of penetration correlates to the percentage of TCA in the solution. In my hands, a medium depth TCA peel (35%) is usually used. Prior to application of the TCA, I use a light chemical peel known as the Jessner's peel, which is salicylic acid based. This cleans epidermal cells down to the layer of the stratum corneum, allowing the TCA to penetrate more deeply and more evenly.

Safety: Is a TCA peel safe. The answer is yes if used by an experienced Physician; it is a serious treatment and requires a practitioner with superb training and experience. TCA penetrates the skin via a process known as coagulative necrosis; it can only penetrate to a specified depth based on its concentration. The key is to make sure the peel is formulated correctly. Most Facial Plastic Surgeons will have a Pharmacist who formulates the peel in a consistent, specified fashion.

Downtime: Much less downtime than a CO2 laser treatment, but more downtime than a Dermabrasion or a Portrait Plasma Skin Regeneration (PSR); there is a week of initial recovery followed by moderate redness for 4 weeks or so. However, since TCA is relatively inexpensive to formulate, it gives a great result for less patient cost than most of the other treatments mentioned.

Conclusion: TCA chemical peel is a treatment I have always used in my practice as part of the armementarium of skin resurfacing, and something I will probably continue to use based on the consistency of results, acceptable downtime, and cost factors involved.

Good sources of protein, such as lean meats, eggs, and beans, help keep your blood sugar stable. The result youll feel full longer and get a boost in energy and that will help you burn more belly fat.

I am 41 and going through perimenopause. I got most of my blood tests done and they were almost normal other than the hormonal imbalance. I got mammography test done and it shows heterogeneous dense breast tissue and bilateral axillary lymph nodes with fatty helum. No mammography evidence of malignancy is seen. What does it mean?

It means currently mammography report suggests your breast are absolutely normal. No signs of cancer/ malignancy. Just follow hormonal imbalance with your doctor. Take care of your mood and sleep.

Please check if your bowels are clear/if you have intestinal worms. Do depended on balance diet/good sleep/daily exercise. Take five phos 4 tablets twice daily for next 2 weeks.

yes, it has shown good results in obese people. But dont rely only on this medication. cut down sugar and salt intake. Stop taking meals after 7 pm in the evening. Stop cold water, cold eatables, spicy food, fried food in your diet. Make sure you sleep 7 to 8 hrs at night regularly. Take tripahal powder , 1 tsf in half a glass of warm water at bed time regularly. good luck.

Hi. Wait for beard to grow as it's a slow process. You are just 16 yrs. So will get more dense beard and your height will also grow further. As height can be gained till 21 yrs. Of age in males and 18 yrs. In females, so you do have 5 yrs. More to grow further! medication: start taking homoeopathic medicines which are safe to take without any side-effects - bakson's hite-aid and five phos. - both thrice daily and thuja 1m/ one dose once a week - take them for 4 months. Management: consume a balanced diet. A person will look a lot shorter when having a plump body. Not only that, being fit by eating right will make you taller and feel better! eat plenty of lean protein. Lean protein, such as white poultry meat, fish, soy, and dairy, helps promote muscle growth and healthy bones. Simple carbohydrates such as pizza, cakes, sweets, and soda, are the stuff to stay away from. Eat plenty of calcium. Calcium, found in leafy green vegetables such as spinach and kale, and in dairy (yogurt and milk), helps promote healthy bones. Get enough zinc. Studies, although they have been inconclusive so far, point to a possible link between zinc deficiencies and stunted growth in boys. Do get indulge in stretch exercises, and sports like basketball, volleyball. -sleeping is the time when your body grows, get between 9 and 11 hours of sleep per night if you're a preteen or still younger than 20. -avoid any bad habit like smoking which affects the height, also avoid anabolic steroids which inhibit bone growth in young children and teens. Aa-always stand straight instead of hunching your back. (you can probably increase your height by a few inches with diet and lifestyle changes, especially if you are still in your teens or even your early 20s (for boys).) get back to me after 4 months for further guidance. It seems you have social anxiety. Go ahead and start mingling with people, when you speak to people look into their eyes and speak. Go out with friends and family for dinner and lunch and show interest in others. Avoid stress, eat healthy nutritious balanced diet and sleep adequately. Practice yoga and meditation. Hi doc, these days I have been hearing a lot about intimate washes for cleaning woman's private area. And also the vaginal tightening creams. Are these both safe to use? Will it affect my reproductive health?

Best thing to wash private part is lukewarm water. There is no such cream for vaginal tightening. Better is do perineal exercise.

Most chances of conceiving are between the 8-16 day of periods, day 1 means the first day of periods. Wait till the date your periods were due and after that get a home pregnancy testing kit.

Dear you can easily gain weight and get a healthy muscular body by following these best things - 1. To gain weight, your digestion should work properly. If you have any disease of digestive system you should treat disease first. For proper digestion - take 10 gms powder of carom seeds (ajwain, 10 gm powder of cumin (jeera), 10 gm of rock salt. Mix them well and take 1/2 teaspoon (3-5 gm) of mixture daily after meal. Or take 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper (kali mirch), 1/ 2 tea spoon of jeera (cumin), 2-3 slice of ginger. Boil it in one glass of water for 2-3 minutes. Drink 5-10 teaspoons (15-20 ml) in morning and evening for strong digestive system. Or you can take amla powder 1 teaspoon with water for strong digestion. 2. Take a diet rich with proteins and fats. You should take high calorie food that increase your muscle mass and induce growth in bones. I am sending the diet chart. Follow it in your daily life to fastly gain weight * in morning, take a glass of milk added with 2 teaspoons of protein powder with breakfast. * in lunch time, take 1 bowl of curd or 100 gm of cheese, a bowl of vegetable, with chapattis. * in evening, take 1 glass of milk (300 ml) with 2 bananas. * in night, take a bowl of careals (daal, a bowl of salad with chapattis. 3. In morning, get up early and take awalk for 10-15 minutes and exercise light weight exercises for at least 30 minutes at home or gym. 4. For proper weight, proper sleep is very important. So you should sleep for 6-8 hours daily. 5. Avoid soft drinks, western fast food (burgers, french fries, pizza etc. They disturb your digestion. 6. You can try protein powders like endura mass, milk powder, soya protein. And creatinine for weight gain by taking 1 tea spoon added in milk once a day.
