Hello. Your BP is normal. Nothing to wprry about it. Just take precautions like not to eat excess salt & sugar. Salt consumption should be below normal. You can take rock salt if needed as it have more potassium in it than regular sea salt. Drink plenty of water. & do morning or evening walk (empty stomach preferable) & pranayama. Hope it will help. Thank you :)

Diet For Summer Stroke / Effects

BHMS
Homeopath, Delhi

Recommended Diet for Heat Stroke

Unani physicians claim that a diet for heat stroke can help prevent the problem to some extent, because dietary recommendations for a heat stroke patient could be quite useful. Undermentioned list is of some of the adjustments one can make in his diet, after a heat stroke.

  • It is essential to include fresh fruits, vegetables and juices in the regular diet to avoid heat related illnesses, especially heat Strokes because dehydration is an important cause behind the incidence of heat Strokes. Water content is high in these items and that’s why they help to keep the body well hydrated.
  • Oranges, pineapples, watermelons, grapefruits, lemons, cantaloupes and similar fruits are very useful in this condition.
  • Drinking plenty of water is also necessary, especially before going out in the sun. It is highly recommended to drink an additional amount of fluids, like fresh juice or an energy drink as it could replenish the levels of water in your body.
  • A part from that onions, mint, cucumber and yogurt should be positively included in the diet to prevent Heat Strokes. Not only due to its cooling effect, but these can also be great for the overall health.
  • It has been observed that low blood sugar can trigger the symptoms of heat Strokes. Add healthy sources of protein to your diet, which mainly include nuts, beans, pulses and olive oil. This will increase blood sugar levels, thereby preventing heat strokes.
  • Up to some extent, peppermint tea and raspberry tea are found to be highly effective in providing relief from these symptoms.

Restricted Diet for Heat Stroke

  • Excessive consumption of salt adversely affects the functioning of normal sweat production, as salt is rich in sodium, and excess sodium could hamper the regular production of sweat in the body which in turn increases the risk of developing this heat illness.
  • Consumption of alcoholic beverages should also be minimized because alcohol is known to increase heat in the body. In addition to this, caffeinated beverages induce frequent urination and cause unnecessary loss of water.

At your age hypertension is not normal and requires detailed evaluation of why it is high and when medicines are started they also need to be titrated based on the response of each individual body. So I hope that you had remained in follow up of your treating cardiologist. If not then please consult your treating cardiologist again.

Hi Doc, If I turn vegan, from where do I get daily requirements of protein and minerals needed for healthy body. Isn't it better to have all types of food instead of adapting a vegan lifestyle and do some sort of physical exercise daily. What is real benefit of turning vegan besides improved cholesterol level and less risk of diabetes and other lifestyle diseases.

Mr. Lybrate-user, being a vegetarian is by ones own choice. Vegetarian diet also does provide all the necessary nutrients and proteins, when proper food selection is made. Whole grain foods, multiple grains usage, use of pulses in good quantity, use of soy beans and peanuts, chanas, etc. Does give good proteins. Milk and dahi, gives a good variety of proteins. Green leafy vegetables, multicloured vegetables, fruits and berries, dry fruits offer almost all needed nutrients. Vegetarian diet is good, advantageous but if you want to shift to other foods, there is no barrier. It always by choice. Thanks.

General tiredness and unhealthy feeling may be due to various factors. Uncontrolled bp and/or diabetes, underlying complications for example blockages in heart, another condition like hypothyroidism or simply lack of fitness. You need to consult any physician and find out the exact cause. It may not be possible to advise online in such cases.

Dear lybrate user, you may be suffering from high uric acid level in your blood. To confirm you should conduct a blood test for uric acid. Protein is one of the most vital nutritional substances which are required for human body. Almost every high protein diet contains purine. This purine produces uric acid on oxidation. Excess uric acid is accumulated at the joints of human beings as urate salts. This accumulation of urate salts lead to pain & swelling of those affected joints & this condition is clinically known as gout. You should avoid high protein rich diet like mutton, chicken, beef, eggs, sea fish, spinach, garden pea, tomato, lentils etc. Also you need to take homoeopathic mother tincture urtica urens q, 30 drops, thrice daily, after meals, in a cup of water. This medicine will help to dissolve the accumulated excess urate salts from the joints.
