Hi, My 6th molar tooth has been broken for which 2 docs hv advised implant after extraction. One doc has Nobel biocare implant while the other has recommended astra biocare (israel based co). There is much difference in the prices for both. Please suggest whether astra is as good as Nobel? Thanks.

I'm getting so many cavities, and I want to know how I can prevent them. I brush, use mouthwash, and floss.

Ask Free Question
The only way to prevent cavities is to brush & floss your teeth at least twice daily & also to consult a dentist once every six months. Even then cavities will happen but it can be best delayed or prolonged.

Only if the tooth is grossly decayed, we will need to go for extraction of the tooth. After that you can go for dental implant. If the tooth can be saved, it will go for RCT and crown.

15. This I personally feel is the most important tip for all parents.

Introduce your child to the sights and sounds of the dental clinic/practice at an early age to allay any dental phobia that might develop. Take them with you when you go for a check up.

The type of treatment you have for toothache will depend on the cause of the pain, so your dentist will examine your mouth and may carry out an X-ray to try to identify the problem. • If your toothache is caused by tooth decay, your dentist will remove the decayed area and replace it with a filling. • If your toothache is caused by a loose or broken filling, the filling will be taken out, any decay will be removed and a new filling put in place. • If the pulp inside your tooth is infected, you may need root canal treatment. This procedure involves removing the infected pulp and then inserting a special type of filling to seal the tooth and prevent re-infection. • If your toothache can't be treated using these methods, or if your tooth is impacted (wedged between another tooth and your jaw), it may need to be removed.

Stains on teeth surface can be due to smoking, tobacco, gutka, alcohol and pan like products. Avoid taking these as they can cause serious problems like cancer. Bleaching will help you in this regard.

We need more investigations (full mouth x-ray) to decide upon treatment. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.
