The 8 Foods That Bloat Your Belly!

Do you feel your stomach bloat after meals? If you notice, this doesn't happen after every meal? Only at times. And at other times when you eat specific foods. Well, there are foods cause your stomach to bloat, so the wise thing to do is to know about them and avoid them!

Here are a few of the biggest criminals:

1. Cold drinks: Yes, these carbonated drinks have numerous side effects on your health. One of them is that they bloat your tummy. Beer happens to fall in this category too.

2. Dairy Products: For the lactose intolerant, dairy products are almost like poison. The intolerance can be mild, moderate of severe, but one of the symptoms is gas. You can try to limit your consumption of dairy products.

3. Apples: Apples and pears are known to contain a high percentage of fiber. While they are important for us and should be eaten, if is good to know that they can affect sensitive tummies. Eat bit by bit, and if it helps, peel the skin and then eat.

4. Few Vegies: While they are excellent health foods, asparagus, cabbage and broccoli are the vegetables which cause gas in the stomach, which in turn leads to bloating of the tummy.

5. Sodium: Sodium is also another reason for bloated tummies, so it is advised to limit salt intake.

6. Fast Foods: Fast foods like sausages, fried foods, ice cream, sweetened products , etc are known to cause the belly to bloat.

7. Rice Preparations: Rice is known to swell up inside the stomach once it gets water, hence making the stomach feel bloated.

8. Hard Drinks: Alcohol is also said to add weight near the stomach and make it feel bloated.

Hi I am 25 male, I am having rectangular shaped stools from 2 months. Along with this I have gas and after a medium to heavy meal I want to go to poop again. I feel a bit of pressure on right side of kidney but not pain. Yesterday first time I noticed maroon colored blood with my stool. I think it was not mixed in stool but separate. Doctors Kindly Advice what should I do.

Dear Lybrate user: I would suggest you to drink more of liquids and avoid spicy and oily foods. There could be chances of some infection in the intestine. Start taking Hingwashtak churna twice daily with warm water before food and get your stool checked for any sort of infection. If your are exerting during the time of stool passing there might be chances of blood coming out with or after stool mixed with it showing some colour changes. Don't worry get a stool examination and routine blood report. Revert back for consultation.

if you have occasional acidity, lifestyle changes can help: lose excess weight, eat smaller meals, and avoid foods that seem to trigger heartburn such as fried or fatty foods, chocolate, and peppermint. Avoiding alcohol and nicotine may help, too. If necessary, occasional acid reflux can be treated with over-the-counter medication. If you have frequent acidity and burning pain in stomach due to acidity then you may have h. Pylori infection for which I can prescribe a 14 day treatment plan which will eliminate it. Untreated infection causes ulcer in stomach and finally leads to cancer. I being a both a registered dietitian (rd) and doctor have been successfully helping patients with their problems through a holistic approach using customized therapeutic diet and medications. I will also suggest home remedies. Do reply back for private consultation for rx.

Mr. Lybrate-user ayurveda is best answer for your problem. Because in ayurveda we emphasis mainly on digestive system and these piles, fissure and fistula develop due to weak digestion for full recovery along with medicine you have to maintain your food habits and life style. Without these you will again and again land up on same problem. 1. Early to bed and early to rise. 2. Your water intake should be proper. 3. Take milk daily with 4-5 raisins (munnakka) 4. Avoid junk food - bread, cold drinks, food with lots of red chilli specially chinese 5. Avoid over straining while motion 6. Take your food on time, skipping food also leads to indigestion. 7, apply jataydi oil after motion. Consult for proper medication.
