Hello Lybrate user if your blood haemoglobin is low you have to start haematinic syp or tablet as soon as possible also if you are suffering from fast weight gain just check out your thyroid function test it may be reason behind wt gain and also irregular menses.

Dear you can easily gain weight by following these best things - 1. To gain weight, your digestion should work properly. If you have any disease of digestive system you should treat disease first. For proper digestion - take 10 gms powder of carom seeds (ajwain, 10 gm powder of cumin (jeera), 10 gm of rock salt. Mix them well and take 1/2 teaspoon (3-5 gm) of mixture daily after meal. Or take 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper (kali mirch), 1/ 2 tea spoon of jeera (cumin), 2-3 slice of ginger. Boil it in one glass of water for 2-3 minutes. Drink 5-10 teaspoons (15-20 ml) in morning and evening for strong digestive system. Or you can take amla powder 1 teaspoon with water for strong digestion. 2. Take a diet rich with proteins and fats. You should take high calorie food that increase your muscle mass and induce growth in bones. Follow it in your daily life to fastly gain weight * in morning, take a glass of milk added with 2 teaspoons of protein powder with breakfast. * in lunch time, take 1 bowl of curd or 100 gm of cheese, a bowl of vegetable, with chapattis. * in evening, take 1 glass of milk (300 ml) with 2 bananas. * in night, take a bowl of careals (daal, a bowl of salad with chapattis. 3. In morning, get up early and take awalk for 10-15 minutes and exercise light weight exercises for at least 30 minutes at home or gym. 4. For proper weight, proper sleep is very important. So you should sleep for 6-8 hours daily. 5. Avoid soft drinks, western fast food (burgers, french fries, pizza etc. They disturb your digestion. 6. You can try protein powders like endura mass, milk powder, soya protein. And creatinine for weight gain by taking 1 tea spoon added in milk once a day.

Hye. Thankyou for the query. Your weight is the result of not only your diet intake but your metabolism as well. To gain weight you not only need to eat more but to eat right. Firstly you must understand that just eating two meals a day will not benefit you. You need to eat at least 6 meals a day. For the diet to work well each meal has to be nutritious and calories dense. You must incorporate pulses, nuts, eggs, lean meats, fruits, complex carbohydrates and healthy fats in your meals. Initially it may seem tough but with frequent intake it will get easy to eat as much. Exercise is crucial as well. Trust yourself and you can do it.

To gain weight you should eat more calories than you burn. Plus not only you have to eat calorie dense food but you have to keep in mind that what you are eating is healthy too. In the process of weight gain you do not want to put weight in an uneven manner and look unhealthy rather than looking bright and healthy. 1.Start with changing your lifestly. Start working out if you are not active. The biggest myth that prevails now a days is that thin people do not need to work out. This is wrong. When you challenge your body, it is forced to grow. But this growth can only be possible if you are eating enough food to let the body absorb and grow in size and muscles. 2.Eat Healthy – Stop drinking and smoking too much if you are indulged in it. Limit your intake of junk food, pepsi, sugary stuff etc. Do not at all starve yourself. Make it a habit to eat something healthy every 3 hours. This means you have to eat 6 small meals in a day. Your Daily food intake should ideally consist of – a.Have plenty of nuts, dry fuits and seeds. Almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, figs, dates and raisins. They are full of healthy fats needed by a human body. B.Good amount of fruits and vegetables – Bananas, apples, pomegranate, green leafy vegetables. Fruits and vegetables helps in absorption of food in the body and together, completes your daily nutrition need. C.If you are a non- vegetarian - Eat eggs, chicken etc. D.Eat whole grains – Try to have multi grains spread throughout the day. Hye. Thank you for your query. Sudden weight gain or loss may not necessarily be related to a disease. But such drastic differences in weight can surely cause a disease. It could be due to excess stress, work overload, poor eating habits, skipping meals and skipping meals.

You have hypothyroidism. No need to worry. Go to physician. He will prescribe thyroxine medicine of x dose. That will solve your thyroid problem. There is no special diet for this problem. Eat simple food. Less oil. Less sugar. Sarvangasana and halasana helps in stimulating thyroid gland. Rest be active. Be happy.

Hye. Thankyou for the query. Gluten is the protein in wheat and other grains and it needs to be restricted only if you are intolerant to it. Avoiding gluten will not cause weight loss.

My mother who is 63 years old, has high bp and cholesterol, because of this one of her kidney is scarred. Doctor asked her to reduce weight. She started walking in the morning but due to acute pain in knee (arthritis pain) she is not able to do her regular walking. Is it okay for her to continue her walks despite so much pain and if no then what form of exercises should she aim for? Thanks doctor.

I feel that my body is not utilizing what I eat. When I go to answer nature call I see that I am not able to digest properly. For example: if I eat a dish which has tomato, I will see tomato floating. Digest ion very poor and I am very thin no matter how much I eat.

Hi lybrate-user. You may take the below steps to reduce weight 1. Every morning jog for about half an hour before leaving for work. Jog at a pace that causes you to sweat and allow yourselves to take breaks in between. 2. Take the stairs instead of lift when you have an option. 3. Drink at least 12 glasses of water a day i. E 3.7 litres which would help in efficient metabolism of stored fat. 4. Drink green tea as it contains metabolism enhancing antioxidants and avoid sugary foods and drinks. 5. Consuming fruits, veggies and carbs that contain more fiber is always a good idea to promote satiety. 6. Do not skip meals to lose weight as it would slow down the metabolism rate and the body would be slow to burn the calories when you consume food next time. These steps would help you in losing your excess weight.

Hi, I get pain in my knees whenever I sit folding the knees, same case is with my fingers. I am 30 yrs old height- 5.1" and weight is - 47 kg. Is it arthritis and how can I get rid of this problem. There are frequent changes also in my mood. Unwanted thoughts come in mind. I am unable to concentrate on anything. To determine whether it is arthritis you will need to do several tests, apart from the physical examination. Treatment wise you must try Yoga to relieve the pain within a few weeks; and Ayurvedic medicine, if it has been established that you have arthritis to see, if it works. If not, you will need to go for allopathic medicines only for relief. The mental stress you mention may be caused by other factors that are disturbing your mind. Please talk to a counselor to identify those issues and as you deal with them you will feel better. For concentration and containing your thoughts, I have a few exercises which will certainly help. But talking will be of tremendous help. Meditation is very good to train the brain, and discipline your thoughts.

1. Protein is the key for the muscle building. Without adequate protein, muscle gain and growth is not possible because weight training demands for amino acids (which comes from protein). You should daily eat about 2.2g of protein per kilogram of your weight. For example, if you are 50kg , then you should eat 50x2.2=111g of protein spread over 5-6 meals in the day. Include high protein foods in your diet. Your protein intake should be from foods rather than from supplements. Good protein foods: beans,soybeans, whey, fish, dairy products (low fat variety), meats, nuts and seeds (almonds, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds), peanut butter. Many of these are easy digestible foods. Milk is one of the best muscle foods. The milk contains two high quality proteins, about 80 percent whey and 20 percent casein. Whey is quickly broken down into amino acids and absorbed into the bloodstream. Whey is very good to consume after workout. Casein is digested more slowly and provides the body with a steady supply of protein for a longer period of time. Cheese is concentrated milk, so it is high in protein and calcium, fat and cholesterol. Include healthy skim yogurt in your diet, which can give you as much as 120 calories. 2. Eat custard apple (Saripa, Sitaphal) to put on some weight. This fruit is high in calorie. 3. Healthy fats: Avoid fatty foods. Most mothers, especially in India give too much ghee or butter to their children, thinking they will put flesh fast. But ghee is mostly saturated fat which is not a healthy fat for any body. Healthy fats are monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats and omega-3 fatty acids. Good fats: cold pressed oils (olive, sunflower, linseed, canola ). 4. Drink pure fruit juice. It is full of sugar and added nutrients so it is a healthy and nutritious way to gain some pounds. 5. Complex carbohydrates are also needed for gaining weight.. Corn bread is also full of carbohydrates, one piece gives approximately 328 calories. Potatoes are rich sources of carbohydrates and complex sugars, eat baked or as grilled potatoes. Pasta is a calorie rich cereal carbohydrates. 6. Eat bananas. These are rich in carbs and nutritious, one banana contains approximately 100 calories. 7. Some people think that drinking beer helps, but it is not true, it accumulates in your abdomen, making it fatty. 8. Don't take protein supplements for gaining muscles. Consult your doctor for protein supplements. 9. Non Vegetarian Foods Some of the non-vegetarian foods that help increase weight are given below: 1. Red Meat lean ground beef, lean steaks. 2. Pork, ham, lamb 3. Fish: Eat two portions of salmon, cod, or tuna every day. 4. Shrimps: The nutrients and necessary acid content present in shrimps gives healthy calories. 5. Turkey 6. Chicken breast Chicken breast, is supposed to be the healthiest and non-fat part which has approximately 78 calories for each serving. 7. Whole eggs: Eggs are loaded with protein, vitamins A,D and E.
