I am having numbness in my left arm for the last few days. I felt the numbness for the first time 15-20 days back. One of the doctors I went to asked me to raise both hands and smile I think the tests were ok. He then asked me to go for MRI, while he also said simultaneously that the chances of finding something in the brain is remote. I want a second opinion should I go for MRI? What could be the possible reason for this numbness? -Rajesh.

Numbness in the arm suggests the possibility of cervical slip disc for which MRI is gold standard in diagnosing. However, if you have apprehensions for MRI, you may try a conservative trial with analgesics, rest and cervical traction physiotherapy. If symptoms persists beyond 3 weeks of conservative trial, do get an MRI.

L1 vertebrae fracture Hello! I am 22 years 2 months back I had an accident with an car I was on bike. I got several injuries in that accident like my was foot broken so I had operation of that doctors put k-wires in my foot and the major injury was my back. Hi lybrate-user, Sounds like a simple question but there is are some considerations, Pain level, tolerance to activity, is the surgical site stable. The list of considerations can go on and on so lets imagine we get past all of the physical limitations and now we have to start were we are and how we are. What is the state of your physical being, to start you need to identify imbalances in your physical being, you must first be assessed or assess your self, looking for muscle imbalances and postural dysfunctions and then a well planned corrective exercise program can be established. Please understand that the term "back pain exercise" is a misnomer, let me explain, you would not want to exercise your back pain would you? NO, of course not, then you must have mean what exercises should you do to strengthen my back, well guess what that may not be what you need to do to get pain either. You see regardless of your condition and with in the limitations of your surgery your main focus need to be on getting your body back to a more neutral, more balanced and more stable state in order to insure that the surgery is a success. The best way to insure that is accomplished is to address your muscle imbalances and only do very specific stretches and exercises that are appropriate for you and your current condition and the only way to know what it is that you need to be doing is to assess your body as a whole looking at your posture. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Don't try self diagnosis. Consult a doctor and get examine and start therapy. Testicular cancer is very much curable, even in very late stage. So, don't waste time.

I have muscle pain from last 2 months in my lower part of the both leg. So please recommend me for best solution.

I have muscle pain from last 2 months in my lower part of the both leg. So please recommend me for best solution.
Hi Actually pain at calf/leg region can be due to many reasons, commonly it is muscular in nature but it can also be due to tendons, nerves, blood vessels etc. My advise to you for initial 2-3 weeks will be: - ice packs application intensively with elevation of your limbs at night - take a short course of anti-inflammatory medication as per your body's suitability - stop your physical activity till pain completely subsides - intensive physical therapy, training and proper muscle conditioning once pain has subsided - slow resumption of physical activities with proper pre activity warm up and stretching of muscles and short increments in duration of physical activity each day as per pain tolerance. - we will get some blood tests for you - serum vitamin d and serum potassium levels, esr and crp once you have all these reports then you can contact me as I can advise you for proper supplementation

I slipped from stairs and now my ankle bone is hurting too much what should I do?

MPTh/MPT, CKTP

I slipped from stairs and now my ankle bone is hurting too much what should I do?
Immediately take crushed ice & wrap in a cloth & tie it around your ankle for about 15 minutes. You need to do this once in every 2-3hourly to reduce the inflammation & swelling. Simultaneously you have to follow price protocol- protection, rest (don't put on body weight on your ankle& foot for a week atleast), ice (explained), compression (can use ankle wrap/winder in case swelling is not there or minimum but need to use crape bandage in case of there is remarkable swelling, elevation (keep your foot above the level of your heart with the help of pillows. Once inflammation is subsided then need to take few sessions of physiotherapy at a clinical set up.
