Hi, the only difference between gutkha & panmasala is that pan masala does not contain tobacco. Rest all ingredients are same eg areca nut, slaked lime, flavouring agents etc. Bad effects of both just the same. Please avoid at all costs.

I have pyria in my teeth. Blood with foul smell comes every time.

BDS
Dentist,
I have pyria in my teeth. Blood with foul smell comes every time.
Pyorrhoea is the disease of the gum which affects the soft tissue & bone surrounding the roots of the teeth and leads to pus formation and loosening of the teeth. Pyorrhoea term is usually used when the condition is too bad and the gums bleed spontaneously and multiple teeth are moving. In the early stages the disease if fully curable. You need to get your teeth cleaned, maintain a good oral hygiene as adviced by your dentist after cleaning & start using a mouthwash. In some cases if the disease has progressed too far, gum surgery may be needed to eradicate the disease.

Sir I am 47 years old but last 6 months I am suffering with dental infection the teeths are slightly moving. On the lunch time I got heavy pain please give me some treatment.

BDS
Dentist, Coimbatore
Hi sir, you would be suffering from generalized periodontitis which is the inflammatory diseases affecting the tissues that surround and support the teeth. It involves progressive loss of the bone around the teeth, and if left untreated, can lead to the loosening and subsequent loss of teeth. So, get scaling & root planing done first. If you are a diabetic, check your blood glucose levels and keep it under control (since diabetics are more prone for periodontitis). You might need surgical procedures if the condition is very severe. But, initially get scaling & root planing done.

It may be abcess ; gingival or periapical. If tooth mobility is severe then it is advised to get it extacted. It is not a serious problem but needs treatment otherwise it may become very painful later on.

Dentist,
What are the process of teeth cleaning? is it harmful? how much it costs?
Teeth cleaning is done by ultrasonic scaling and polishing. It is not at all harmful but during the procedure a bit of hypersensitivity might result. Only contraindicated in those patients having cardiac pacemaker. Costs around 1500.

What is the meaning of oral lichenoid dysplasia with invasion and oral lichenoidlesion.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
What is the meaning of oral lichenoid dysplasia with invasion and oral lichenoidlesion.
Oral lichenoid lesions: a mouth condition where white lesions develop inside the mouth. Redness, blistering and ulceration may also occur. It is believed to be caused by an autoimmune condition where the body's immune system attacks tissue inside the mouth. Sometimes the condition can be caused by allergies to metals in mouth appliances that are installed but it can also be caused by other forms of mechanical injury to the mouth such as cheek biting. Oral lichenoid dysplasia has the ability to transform into carcinoma. So it has to be excised completely.

•Eat a healthy, balanced diet and avoid eating strongly flavoured or spicy food. •Cut down on sugary food and drink, as it can increase the amount of bacteria in your mouth. •Reduce your alcohol consumption. •Stop smoking. •Cut down on coffee. •Drink plenty of water to help prevent your mouth becoming dry. •Chew sugar-free gum after eating, to stimulate the flow of saliva. This will help clean away any remaining food particles. •Don't use toothpaste to clean your dentures, as it can scratch the surface and cause stains. •Clean your dentures thoroughly using soap and lukewarm water, denture cream or a denture-cleaning tablet. •Use a separate toothbrush to clean your dentures. •Make sure you visit your dentist for regular check-ups. Having regular dental check-ups will ensure that any plaque is removed from your teeth, particularly in areas that are difficult to reach. •Your dentist can recommend the best way to clean your teeth and gums, and point out areas you might be missing. They can also identify any signs of gum disease and ensure early treatment. •Gastritis, lung & sinus infection may also be the cause of bad smell in the mouth. 90% of bad breath is due to a dirty tongue. •If your bad breath is caused by a gastrointestinal problem, such as an H. Pylori infection or gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), you may be referred to a gastroenterologist. •Persistent bad breath or a bad taste in the mouth may be a warning sign of gum (periodontal) disease. Gum disease is caused by the buildup of plaque on teeth. •You may need deep cleaning & fill tooth cavities with artificial enamel filling. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash until then. Advance procedures can be done with laser too. You may consult me in person.

Eating a piece of cheese after a meal helps in pulling away some of the plaque and leftover tiny food particles from meals. And since it contains calcium, it adds to the health of teeth and bones as well.

Last week I had sex with my girlfriend without safety (condom) and suddenly Tiny paper cut on outer part of foreskin (thought be herpes but I haven't got any infection on my mouth or lips as it happens with herpes, no tingling, itchiness on the cut as well) the cut has healed 80-90%. What it could be?

BDS
Dentist, Kanpur
If it is herpes it will not appear in oral cavity. This infection occurs in relation to the infected tissue and surrounding nerve pathways only. Please visit a skin specialist for treatment.

Dentist,
My two tooth is long in front. What to do?
Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations (model study, full mouth & profile x-ray) to decide upon treatment. You may need braces or cap the tooth. Requirements may depends on the age, complaint, duration of the treatment & affordability. Cost of cosmetic dentistry varies with dentist. You may consult me in person. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush.
