Acne or pimples is a chronic disease involving the pilosebaceous follicles. Sebaceous glands are found most abundantly on the face and scalp, though they are present on every part of the skin except the palms of the hands and soles of the feet. Though the sebaceous gland is a mini organ, it is anatomically and functionally related to the hair follicle. Cutaneous disorders attributed to the sebaceous gland are really disorders of the entire pilosebaceous unit. The areas most commonly involved in acne are the face, upper chest, and back. Other less common areas include the upper arms, buttocks, and upper thighs. Acne arises from the interaction of 4 factors 1.Excess sebum production caused by androgenic stimulation of sebaceous glands; 2.Outlet obstruction of the sebaceous follicle arising from excess production of keratinocytes (the basic cell of the epidermis); 3.Increased proliferation of the bacteriaPropionibacterium acnes that normally live in the sebaceous follicle; and 4.Inflammation caused by sebum escaping into the surrounding skin. Excessive manipulation by the patient, causing the primary lesions to disappear and leaving excoriated, raw-looking marks. This is called acne excoriée and can cause scar formation. For removal of black marks you can apply pure coconut oil daily before sleeping ,don't apply while going out

For a sensitive skin you need proper sunprotectiona nd sunscreens only help if applied 15-20 minutes before exposure and depeending upon there type the effect last from 2 -3 hours then you need to reapply it. Secondly even after applying sunscreen its advisable for someone who has to stand a lot under sun to use physical protection like wearing a hat etc more elaborate guidance can be given on further discussions. I would be happy to help you and assit in getting over your problem. Please consult me privately so that a proper solution and treatment plan can be made for your problem.

I have a birth mark on my face and I want to remove it bt without stitches or surgery. Is it possible?

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Even though pigmentation birthmarks (moles) cannot be treated, vascular birthmarks (s) can be treated well with homeopathic medicines. In homeopathy, is not considered as a pure surgical disease. Also, it won?t just rely on external treatment such as creams / ointments / injections, etc for management, since they all have very little or no value in treatment of . According to homeopathy, localized approach or treatment will usually suppress / mask the complaint for a time being and will fix the disease else where. Homeopathy can fade them with its effective internal medicines & constitutional approach.. So for proper constitutional prescription contact a homoeopath

What could be the causes of dark circles under my eyes. I do not drink I do not smoke I am vegetarian I do sleep for 7 hours regularly. I do not have specs. No number. Fine eyes. Can you help?

FPRS, DNB Ophtalmology
Ophthalmologist, Pune
Some of the main causes behind the formation of dark circles are heredity, aging, dry skin, prolonged crying, working for long hours in front of a computer, mental or physical stress, lack of sleep and an unhealthy diet. Both men and women of different age groups can have dark circles.. you will have to visit a cosmetologist who will find the cause and give medicines accordingly

Tried various treatment, creams, following diet plan from long and also sleeping to 8 hrs or plus but no improvement in dark circles under eyes, so pls suggest should I go for surgery or is there any other option for that, pls suggest as I have dark circles under eyes from more than 5 years. Feeling very frustrated as getting no result from everywhere. Please tell.

M. S. in Psychotherapy and Counselling
Psychologist, Jaipur
Hi, dark circles might persist due to hereditary also. If any of your parents have it then you are bound to get them. Drink lots of water as dehydration also causes dark circles. If you have tried everything to get rid of them then start using concealer to hide them if you are getting frustrated. Otherwise accept them and put your energy in some positive activities.
