Get your vitamin d and uric acid levels done (blood tests), vitamin d may be low or uric acid raised. Also learn isometric neck exercises ( physiotherapist can teach you) 20 mins 3 times a day. Use a thin pillow at night and avoid sitting on the pc for more than 1/2 hr.

Calf muscle are stiff so tk gentle massage and muscle relaxant medicine and stretching exercise if it work then ok otherwise physiotherapy treatment tens, and hot pack avoid strain.

There are more than 100 types of cancer occurring in different parts of body--out of them 10 to 12 types of cancers r commonly seen.---common symptoms r.
In children recurrent fevers and weight loss may b due to blood cancer//leukemia's.
In children kidney tumours r also common.
In females.abnormal swelling//lumps in breast can b breast cancer.
Foul smelling vaginal discharge--cancer cervix.

Dear lybrate-user, namaskar, refrain from running for few days. Do hot fomentation and apply some gel on the painful part. Once your pain is gone. Start shortly and slowl. Gradually increasing it to your aim and target. Take care.

When you climbing upstairs some pressure is present on knee joint. Use hot pack to the area. Do active and passive movement regularly. Advice: Avoid cross leg sitting.

Do check your foot wear and vitamin -d deficiency thru nabl lab for pain do apply hot and cold fomentation of 15 min for 10 days followed by leg stretches and strengthening exercise once pain subsides.

Crunches should not cause your low back to hurt. If you repeatedly have pain while performing crunches, cease the activity and seek physiotherapist consultation. When performing a crunch the low back will round. When the lower back rounds it has the potential to push fluid from the intervertebral disc space out and may compress the nerves. A few good alternative core exercises you can try are planks, ball bridges, stability ball marching and dying bug exercises. These will all work the abdominals, help you to lose belly fat and should reduce low back pain.

If you think your pain is due to calcium deficiency then you need to take calcium supplements. Knee pain is a common complaint that affects people of all ages. Knee pain may be the result of an injury or some other medical conditions including arthritis, patellar tendinitis, acl injury, knee bursitis, torn meniscus, gout and infections. Try some home remedies for your pain- - ice is useful for the control of pain and swelling. It can be applied to the knee for 15 to 20 minutes as often as every two to four hours. The swollen knee should be elevated above the level of the heart while icing. -activities that cause pain should be avoided temporarily. -if the knee is swollen or sore, the following positions and activities should be avoided until knee pain and swelling resolve: squatting kneeling twisting and pivoting jogging aerobics, dancing playing sport specific exercises will help you improve range of motion, strength, and endurance. It is especially important to focus on strengthening and stretching your quadriceps since these muscles are the main stabilizers of your kneecap. Core exercises may also be recommended to strengthen the muscles in your abdomen and lower back. Also maintaining a healthy body weight to avoid over stressing your knees are very important. -a full history of your problem should be taken and your movements assessed by a physiotherapist. Hello. Such pain can be due to gout. You should test blood uric acid levels- fasting and random. It is treatable if the cause is found. See a doctor.

Causes of knee pain:

1. Acute knee pain

Sudden knee pain is usually due to an injury, the common ones being:
Tendon injuries: Tendons attach muscle to bone, and are prone to injury, especially in athletes. Sudden rupture ? partial or complete ? will cause pain, and prevent normal movement of the joint. More commonly, inflammation sets in, especially in the quadriceps and patellar tendons (tendonitis)

Ligament injuries: The knee has two ligaments inside the joint and two outside, connecting the femur and tibia, and stabilising the joint. Tearing any of the these ligaments often results from contact sports, or a heavy fall, and causes immediate pain, which is worse on walking or bending the knee. Damage to the internal ligaments may cause the knee to give way when weight is put on the leg.

Meniscus injuries: The meniscus is a cartilage ?cushion? inside the joint. A tear of the meniscus can cause pain, worsening over 24 to 48 hours. The tear may lift a piece of the cartilage off which then flaps between the knee bones (like a bucket-handle): this can cause locking of the joint, preventing full straightening of the leg. Alternatively, a piece of the meniscus can break off, and move around in the joint space, interfering with normal movement. Old or repeated injuries can lead to degeneration of the meniscus.

Dislocation: This commonly affects the kneecap, and is easily seen. Dislocation may become a recurrent problem.

Gout: Although this is a chronic underlying disorder, an attack of gout occurs suddenly, causing intense pain and swelling which can last up to two weeks, then clear, leaving normal joint movement.

Bursitis: This is inflammation of the fluid-filled sacs outside the joint, over which the tendons slide. Commonly the bursa at the front of the knee (pre-patellar bursa) is affected, causing pain when kneeling.

Ilio-tibial band: Athletes, especially runners, are prone to this disorder, in which the ligament from the hip bone to the tibia is tight, and chafes against the outer femur

Osgood-Schlatter disease is an overuse problem found mainly in athletic teenagers, and can affect one or both knees.

Septic arthritis can follow an injury. In addition to pain, the patient will be ill and feverish.

2. Chronic knee pain

This is often due to a previous injury, but is associated with several underlying medical conditions.

Osteoarthritis is the commonest type. It is an age-related condition, sometimes called ?wear and tear arthritis?, and is caused by gradual degeneration of the joint cartilage. The pain varies from day to day, is often worse in the mornings, and eventually leads to a stiff joint.

Rheumatoid arthritis is a destructive auto-immune disease, often involving both knee joints. Acute flare-ups alternate with quiescent periods. Pain, stiffness & swelling eventually lead to loss of mobility and a destroyed, deformed joint.

Chondromalacia patellae describes a condition of pain under the kneecap, due to mild arthritis of the patella. It is common in young women. Pain is worse after sitting, or with rising from the chair or going up stairs, and patients report a sensation of grating under the kneecap.

Tumours: malignant tumours of bone (like osteogenic sarcoma) can cause pain and swelling near the knee. This must be excluded in a young patient who has no history of sport injury or any underlying medical condition.
