Health Benefits of Drinking Enough Water

MD - General Medicine
Sexologist, Delhi
Health Benefits of Drinking Enough Water

Our bodies are around 60% water, give or take.

It is commonly recommended to drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water per day (the 8*8 rule).

Although there is little science behind this specific rule, staying hydrated is important.

Water Helps to Maximize Physical Performance

If we do not stay hydrated, physical performance can suffer.

This is particularly important during intense exercise or high heat.

Dehydration can have a noticeable effect if you lose as little as 2% of your body's water content. However, it is not uncommon for athletes to lose up to 6-10% of their water weight via sweat .

This can lead to altered body temperature control, reduced motivation, increased fatigue and make exercise feel much more difficult, both physically and mentally .

Optimal hydration has been shown to prevent this from happening, and may even reduce the oxidative stress that occurs during high-intensity exercise. This is not surprising when you consider that muscle is about 80% water .

So, if you exercise intensely and tend to sweat, then staying hydrated can help you perform at your absolute best.

Precautions to be taken before 1st time sex n should I use condom and how to know whether girl is virgin or not.
U should use condom whether the girl is virgin or not. Virginity can't be ascertained by you even a gynaecologist cannot be sure of a girl's virginity. And by the way why are you bothered about her virginity. If you have trust problem with her then don't rush for physical intimacy and ruin her as well as your life.

The only way to be sure about pregnancy is by doing a pregnancy test after the periods are overdue by 5 days. Another reason for delay could be mental tension and anxiety related to this issue. If you like, please contact me to understand the basic physiology of menstruation and avoid a lot of mental tension.

Thanks for the query. Irregular periods can be due to hormonal disbalance or even stress. Before going for complete hormonal analysis you can go for a whole abdomen sonography to rule out ovarian cyst. Review with reports to start with homoeopathic treatment.

How to get conceived with one tube (right flopen tube) means what is the right time of ovulation period.
If ovulation happenes from rt ovary then only you have chances of concieving. I'll suggest to have ovulation study from day 10 of menses. 1) sexual intercourse - from day 10 to day 18 of your period. 2) do not use any lubricants. 3) sexual intercourse should be in supine position only. 4) take pillow below buttocks keep that for min. 30 minutes after sexual intercourse. 5) do not eat heavy food in that day 6) male partner should have milk after intercourse to regain energy.

Rashes in Genitals - Can it be a Sign of Vaginal Yeast Infection?

MBBS, DGO, MD, Fellowship in Gynae Oncology
Gynaecologist, Delhi
Rashes in Genitals - Can it be a Sign of Vaginal Yeast Infection?

Candidiasis or yeast Infection of the female reproductive organ is a condition caused from the fungus known as ‘Candida’. A vaginal yeast infection is accompanied by severe itching, swelling or irritation in your vaginal region.

Yeast is present in your vagina in a small proportion as part of the normal vaginal flora, an imbalance of which results in vaginal Yeast Infection. Frequent in its nature, these infections can be quite bothering due to the symptoms that such as persistent burning sensation in your genital area, excess vaginal discharge, painful sex, rashes followed by soreness around your vagina.

What are the causes of Vaginal Yeast Infection?

  1. Antibiotics lowering good bacteria or ‘lactobacillus’ within your vagina
  2. Unchecked and untreated diabetes
  3. Pregnancy
  4. A Fragile immune System
  5. Uncontrolled eating habits, like consuming a lot of sugary food
  6. Stress
  7. Menstrual imbalance
  8. Inadequate or no sleep

How to treat Vaginal Yeast Infection?

Treatment of the infection varies with the severity of the condition. For simple infections

  1. One to three days of anti-fungal medications in the form of cream or ointment, for instance, Terazol, Lotrimin, Gynazle and Monistat.
  2. One dosage of an oral medicine known as Fluconazole

For complicated Infections
There are particular types of Candida that does not respond to the normal treatment and hence requires a more aggressive approach. If you meet any one of the following criteria like uncontrolled diabetes, weak immune system due to HIV positive or medicinal side-effects, you are pregnant, excess build-up of the candida fungus, the infections recur more than four times a year or you are down with severe itching, swelling, redness, tears or sores in your vaginal area, your case is severe and complex.

Possible treatments in this situation can be:

  1. A 14-day tablet course, cream or ointment for vaginal treatment.
  2. 2 to 3 dosages or a long term usage of anti-fungal medication or  Fluconazole (not suggested for pregnant women).
  3. Cure of your sexual partner who may be transmitting it to you (although these are rare) or use of condoms during intercourse.
