A most of babies who are top fed do vomit small amount or do regurgitate while burping. If he is vomiting continuously he needs to give antiemetic dose will depend on his weight.

How To Treat Diaper Rash In Children?

How To Treat Diaper Rash In Children?

Your baby's skin is soft and sensitive. Being cautious can reduce the chances of skin infections, but it doesn't in any way refute the possibility altogether. Hence, you must be overly careful. Your baby could face intense discomfort if you happen to neglect the appearance of diaper rashes. Persistent rashes on your baby's bottom can make him or her irritable. Look into the causes and remedies of diaper rash in children to keep your baby cheerful.

Causes of Diaper Rash in Babies:

  1. Friction and lack of air circulation between the skin and the diaper can make your baby suffer from rashes. Make sure the baby doesn't rub against a diaper for too long; existing rashes can go worse in that case.
  2. You should never let your child remain in a dirty diaper for more than a while. A dirty diaper increases the risk of bacterial infections on your baby's bottom.
  3. Skin chafing could also be the reason behind diaper rashes.
  4. Yeast infections could surface in the form of rashes on a baby's bottom. Yeast or fungus is present in small amounts in every person's body. It can be easily developed in the moist yet warm atmosphere of a child's diaper. Being the mother, if you are on medications, your child's chances of contracting skin rashes is likely to be more. The side effects show in children as they are breastfed.

Ways to Treat Diaper Rash in Babies:

  1. Each time a diaper is changed; the area must be washed with lukewarm water and cleaned with a soft piece of cloth. The area should then be dried completely. It is best to avoid soaps as they can be harsh on sensitive skin.
  2. Applying ointments or petroleum jelly can soothe diaper rash. Powder can keep the area dry; it can also remedy itching.
  3. Feed your child liquids like cranberry juice; it makes his or her urine less concentrated. Concentrated urine can cause severe bacterial infection.

My 1.8 years old son not eating anything. Only depends on milk. How to feed solids to him.

General Physician,
It's easy, start feeding him solids mixed with milk. Then decrease milk content keeping it semisolid. And he'll grow himself into eating solids. Wish you luck! Do revert if you need any further support.

Bedwetting is considered aa normal till 6 years. But if it has occurred after a period of good control then you have to rule out urinary tract infection and diabetes.

I have premature baby he takes powder milk when he was born his weigh was 900 gram now he is six month old his weight 4500 gram why his growth is average and please tell me how many ml of milk he should take after each 2 hours.

MD - Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Tumkur
Birthweight usually doubles by 5 months. As he was a premature baby his weight gain is more than adequate. Lf you are breastfeeding it's fine otherwise you can feed him top feeds around 150ml once in 3 -4 hours.

My daughter (7 years) is suffering from adenoids. We found this problem in the age of 3-4 years and suggested to wait for another two years. She had no problem during these 2 years. From last month onwards she was suffering from ear pain and now doctor says to go for surgery. Request you to kindly suggest is there a remedy without surgery or still shall we wait for some years?

MS - ENT(Gold Medalist), MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Delhi
Get xray nasopharynx done only after that further can be planned. Adenoids cause eustachian tube blockage and ear problem that require surgery for adenoids and ear (grommet insertion).

For new born baby, there is a white mark/coating in the tongue, may be due to milk powder (Nan or Lactogen feeding). How to clear it?

Diploma in Child Health (DCH), MBBS
Pediatrician, Aurangabad
That is normal. Try to wipe it with a clean, sterile cloth. It it goes it was most likely due to the milk/nan otherwise it can be a fungal infection called oral candidiasis, common in preterm babies.

My 1 year old son goes to day care. I am working and I have heard that day care/creche gives sleeping pills to babies. Please tell me how can I assure that my baby is not getting these pills. I will be back home by 6 in evening. He will be active for sometime and then have milk and sleep. Please help me to know that I am not risking my son's health.

Pediatrician, Pune
Now this is an eye opener that babies do get sleeping pills in creches, you have to keep an eye on such creches and report to appropriate authorities if you have definite proof, better be careful and spend a day in the creche to find the daily routine going on there.
