I have been having repeated nosebleeds since I was 2 years old but recently they have gotten severe, I now bleed for an hour minimum when my nose starts bleeding. It has been so for the last two weeks, once I passed out? I recently got my blood pressure checked and it was 150/90 and my body temperature is normally a little high too,℥like 38 degrees celsius. I've seen many doctors but none of their advice or medications have helped me. Any suggestions?

In case many doctors have already seen you and their examination has not been able to find anything serious, you need to rest assured that it not serious. You have stated that rhinitis is the associated problem, that itself can be the basic cause behind such bleeding. When the nose gets congested, you may tend to blow your nose or try to wipe nasal secretions repeatedly injuring your nasal mucus membrane and some small capillary may start bleeding. If your bleeding and clotting times are normal then there does not seem to be a threat. You are perhaps more anxious hence handle your nose a bit delicately. When running or blocked do not blow it repeatedly or rub it with your handkerchief forcefully. If at all there starts a bleed hold your nostrils from outside pinching them tightly for about 7 to 10 minutes. The bleeding must stop. Do not lie down in supine position on your back at such time as the blood may trickle back in the throat and clot there. Take enough vitamin C available from juice of citrus fruits. A bleeder if identified properly in an ENT check up, may be cauterized by the surgeon if required.

What are the foods that a PCOS patient should avoid in a low carb diet? Doc's suggest for small portion meals in 2.5 or 3 hrs interval. If taking small portion meals is not possible then what should be done as I have a sedentary and hectic work schedule.

Dear lybrate-user you need to take high protein low fay and carb diet. You have been advised correctly to take small frequent meals this should not be an elaborate meal. 3 major meals breakfast, lunch and dinner and 3-4 small in between meals would be sufficient. Don't eat animal protein and refined flour and sugar. Small snacks can be a bowl of yogurt, chhas, roasted peanuts or almonds, black sesame seed laddu, a bowl of salad with tofu tossed in it, soy milk, naryal pani along with its malai, protein bars. The options are plenty and don't take more than 5 minutes of your hectic work schedule so start loving yourself more and eat healthy in regular intervals and loose weight. It will automatically improve your pcos.

Daibetes can be very well controlled but cannot be cured completly. Therefore, please follow a healthy lifestyle and go for regular follow-up with your doctor and keep doing the tests as suggested. Do not stop or start new medicines without the doctor's advise. Please read (from health magazines and the internet) about diabetes and how lifestyle changes can help lead a very normal life. Please be acitve (daily exercise and Yoga) and relax your mind by following some creative hobby or learn some relaxation techniques (including pranayam and meditation ).

Hello, usually when a child is unable to learn effectively, he cannot recall the information. Also he child is feeling a lot of anxiety, he tends to black out & is unable to recall the information. You can also go through the child's reading & writing abilities to rule out if child is having difficulty in his mind. You can always consult a child psychologist for further guidance.

I'm 24 yr male, for past 6 years I regularly get pimples, which gets disappeared and then appear back. I wash my face at regular intervals, as my skin is oily too. In past 1 year I also observed that my hair has started to fall. Please help? At first I would want to detoxify my body, any suggestions to what go for?

General Physician (AM)
Alternative Medicine Specialist, Chandigarh
First, lighten up your toxin load. Eliminate alcohol, coffee, cigarettes, refined sugars and saturated fats, all of which act as toxins in the body and are obstacles to your healing process. Also, minimize use of chemical-based household cleaners and personal health care products (cleansers, shampoos, deodorants and toothpastes), and substitute natural alternatives. Another deterrent to good health is stress, which triggers your body to release stress hormones into your system. While these hormones can provide the "adrenaline rush" to win a race or meet a deadline, in large amounts they create toxins and slow down detoxification enzymes in the liver. Yoga, and meditation are simple and effective ways to relieve stress by resetting your physical and mental reactions to the inevitable stress life will bring.God bless

Hi, Drink 3-4 litres of water per day. Drink tender coconut water, nimbu pani everyday. Take tab. Neeri 2tabs twice a day after food for 2-3 months continuously. Consume plantain stem as a vegetable daily which helps in breaking the stone into small pieces and expels them out of the body.
