My father age is 65 he is suffering from parkinson. His health going down day by day he take levodopa 4 to 6 times in a day. He is also so impatient please suggest how can we care him.

COMT, MPTh/MPT
Physiotherapist, Surat
I understand your concern for your father. In physiotherapy we have several techniques to treat Parkinson’s patients like stretching exercises, manipulation techniques, mobility program, co-ordination/balance training etc. Physical therapy is the best treatment that we can offer to patients to make them work independently by increasing there functional performance. So I would recommend you to take him to physiotherapist who can make a best treatment plan from further deterioration of disease. By the time you can ask him to do daily walk for 20 min (if he can do independently) and general mobility exercises so that his muscles does not get stiff / rigid. Regards.

Can Playing Video Games Cause Neurological Problems?

M. D. Psychiatry, Diploma in Psychological Medicine-DPM, MBBS
Psychiatrist,
Can Playing Video Games Cause Neurological Problems?

Your mother has often yelled at you for playing video games for long hours, but obviously you haven’t paid heed to it. Such is the obsession with video games that they don’t let you rest unless you have championed all the levels in the virtual interface. Here is the source of all problems. Studies have revealed that video games have a direct relation to neuropsychiatric problems. As a result, many health experts across the world consider video game as a kind of health abuse.

People who play action-oriented video games are at higher risks. The more you indulge in these kinds of games, the more they are going to affect the hippocampus section of your brain. It is that part of the brain which is considered to be the centre of your nervous system, memory and emotion. Reduced hippocampus volume may make person vulnerable to multiple neuropsychiatric complications. Let us see some of the signs, which may indicate the onset of certain complications arising from an over indulgence in these games.

1. You spend hours on the computer or related gaming devices and devote lesser hours for your family and friends

2. You get agitated when someone stops you midway through the game

3. You become socially isolated and show signs of occasional mood swings

4. You are unable to keep a track of time once you start playing

5. You repeatedly neglect your studies, resulting in a dip in performance at school

Why does this happen?

All of the above signs indicate that sooner or later you might develop neurological problems. When you spend an excessive number of hours on playing and navigating through the games, the ‘hippocampus’ portion of your brain shows signs of decreased gray matter. As a result, the volume of the hippocampus shrinks, causing severe nerve related disorders such as schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, depression, and overall general stress.

One of the biggest reasons behind this is a lack of self-control. Most of the video games will encourage you to steal cars, run away after a theft and kill your enemies. Moreover, if you succeed, you are rewarded. This naturally unleashes a blatant urge for the gratification of all these awkward desires in your real life too. Hence, once you are encountered with the reality, you tend to show violent behavior. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

The chest pain appearing after hard work but not during mild exertion might be due to decreased blood supply to heart so an ECG at rest may be normal. You should get a stress cardiogram or treadmill test, which may suggest some ST T changes. Instead of doing this or that test better be guided by a qualified cardiologist and do as advised.

My age is 23. My height is 6 ft. My weight is 78 kg. I also had habit of masturbation since 17-18 .i used to do it daily one time by rubbing penis against bed but. The only thing I noticed that 70% of my hair are greyed now. 6 month ago I had problem of head pain. Half head pain and on back side of pain .It was migraine. I left masturbation and saturated focussing on yoga. I used yo do yoga daily for 2 hours. Two month after one day I had frequent urination. The same problem goes on for three day so I had check. It was urine infection along with prostate enlarge 22. 6 cc.and my weight was reduced then. 4-5 kg. Buf uric acid was normal. But from that day I used to have more symptom such as penis head pain. Hi lybrate-user, masturbation does not cause adrenal gland disease. Hair fall/loss can be due to variety of causes. However, many of them can be controlled and dealt with. Most common cause is nutrient deficiency which can be rectified my oral medications and supplements. There are medicines available for local application which are also known to give significant results. Treatments like mesotherapy, microneedilling and prp show significant long term effects. There are two pillars for weight loss. Diet and exercise. Thought right diet can control further weight gain and assure overall health, exercise is must for weight reduction. 30 mins walk (to start with), with well-balanced diet (depending on your health condition) can lead to gradual and healthy weight loss. I would be happy to help you. Please consult me privately so that I can understand your problem in detail and help you. You can book a private in-person/text/audio/video appointment for further discussion and personalized advice.

I am losing my hair. My hair is getting fallen from last 3 month. Please tell me some idea.
Take homeopathic medicine acid phos 1m/single dose (5 drops in little water) and revert after 2 weeks. Apply jaborandi hair oil. Also use arnica shampoo. Drink 8-10 glasses of water daily. Eat healthy and balanced food like pulses, green leafy vegetables, fresh fruits and nuts etc. Add more vitamin rich food to your diet. Avoid stress and anger by meditation. Cut down the use of hair spray, hair gel. Take sound/good sleep. Avoid too much exposure of your hair to sunlight/ hair styling tools, as they damage hair and cause split ends.

Treating Sinusitis & Migraine With Homeopathy

MD - Homeopathy, BHMS
Homeopath, Noida
Treating Sinusitis & Migraine With Homeopathy

Sinusitis and migraine both are very painful condition, causing immense discomfort. Homeopathy deals with both the conditions very well.

1. Sinus and Homeopathic cure: Sinusitis is the inflammation or infection of one or more of the sinuses. It can be caused by a virus, bacteria, fungus, allergies or excessive nose blowing and results in the blockage of the sinus opening. Sinusitis can be acute (lasting 4 or lesser weeks), subacute (lasting 4 to 8 weeks), chronic (lasting beyond 8 weeks) and recurring (several attacks in a year).

There are different remedies available to treat the different symptoms of sinusitis, which work together to completely cure it by boosting the body's immune system without having any side effects.

Homeopathy for Nasal Polyps: Soft growths arising from the mucous membrane of the nose or paranasal sinus are referred to as nasal polyps and causes acute sinusitis. The most common treatment option suggested by a conventional system in nasal polyps is surgical removal. In most cases, nasal polyps reappear after surgery. However, surgery is a temporary fix since it does not address the body's tendency to form polyps. Homeopathy, on the other hand, offers a permanent solution by treating the root cause.

Following six homeopathic medicines are usually recommended for nasal polyps - Lemna Minor, Sanguinaria Can, Calcarea Carb, Kali Bichrome, Teucrium, and Phosphorus.

2. Migraine and Homeopathic cure: A migraine is a headache that causes a distinct pulsating pain, usually in one side of the head. It is different from normal headaches in the sense that the pain is much more intense and it may be accompanied by nausea or vomiting as well.

Some of the common and known causes, which may trigger migraines in people are:

Dehydration is known to trigger migraines: Patients with hypoglycemia may also face migraines if the blood sugar level drops within their body. Change in air pressure due to change in altitude may also cause migraine. - Lack of sleep - Stress

Remedies for Migraine in Homeopathy:

  • Glonoine: For people who frequently have migraines due to congestion of the sinuses, this medicine has been known to be very effective.
  • Spigelia: To treat migraines in the left side of the head.
  • Natrum Mur: This provides great relief from migraines, which may have been caused by stress. Also, if a proper dosage is taken, it can help cure it as well.
  • Belladonna: This had been known to be a great provider of relief for people who regularly face throbbing headaches.

Hi, I recently completed one year of treatment for Spinal TB with 100% Adherence to medicines. During the treatment, I never had any pain which initially existed and was able to lead a very normal life like others. Once I stopped medicine, I started feeling slight pain at the same place where it all started one year back. While the pain is not as bad as it was, I am just worried about why it still exists. I was advised to go for Physio and attended IFT sessions which considerably reduced paid but I still feel a pain like a pinch between my buttocks and lower spine. Any advice will be of great help. Let me know if I should see a Neuro to ensure my nerves are in good shape after being infected with TB bacteria.

The most common reason for persisting pain might be the residual damage that tb might have caused to the spine in the form of fibrosis or scars. If you develop again symptoms like severe pain, numbness. Weakness fever night sweats weight loss you should be worried about tb again other wise it might be sequalae. Its always better to take concerned specialist advice, so no harm in taking neuro consultation.
