Sir how to prevent jaundice? What and all food habits has to followed to prevent jaundice?

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
Jaundice is a liver disease affecting millions of people all over the world. This clinical condition is characterized by yellowing of the skin and eyes due to the build-up of bilirubin (bile) in the body. The incidence of jaundice is rising in India due to the fact that people lack awareness about this health complication. However, it is not always possible to prevent jaundice ,but following few precautionary measures can minimise the risk. Here are five tips to help you prevent or minimise the risk of jaundice – 1.Maintain proper hygiene and sanitation The first and foremost step to prevent infectious diseases like jaundice is by implementing high standards of hygiene and sanitation. Wash your hands with soap before eating food and after using the wash-room to restrict viral transmission. 2.Eat fresh and warm food During the monsoons, the chances of food contamination are high and hence people are advised against eating out and at unhygienic places. Always eat fresh fruits and properly cooked vegetables, preferably warm foods in order to lower your risk of liver infection. 3.Drink clean water This disease can spread through infected water and hence, it is recommended that people should drink boiled and filtered water. Avoid drinking water from unhygienic places and also bottled water (if you doubt the source of water). 4.Vaccination Get yourself and your kids vaccinated with the hepatitis vaccine (and booster) in order to prevent the disease. It is also recommended that you get your vaccination done if you are travelling to places where this disease is endemic or if your job (involves working in a high-risk area such as labs and hospitals. 5.Lifestyle factors In case you are alcoholic, try to restrict yourself to not more than 3 drinks per day, as excessive drinking puts you at risk of developing the disease. Try to maintain a healthy weight (if obese) and indulge in exercising as high cholesterol levels in the body may increase your risk of other health complications which in turn may cause hepatitis.

Hello, you had your withdrawal bleed post ipill intake on 18th, ruling out any pregnancy. However delay in cycle presently is a known side effect of ipill. Please wait for another week for menses to resume if pregnancy has already been ruled out by a urine pregnancy test.

Tea Tree Oil: It is a great moisturizer for the hair; it helps to keep the scalp free of bacteria and fungal problems. Tea tree oil unblocks the sebaceous glands and encourages the flow of the scalp’s own moisturising oils while clearing away dead skin cells. Tea tree oil mixed with other essential oils is especially good as a scalp treatment for relieving dandruff.

Maintaining Diet In Diabetes

MD , MBBS
General Physician, Aligarh
Maintaining Diet In Diabetes

A lifestyle disease such as diabetes is never nice to have, isn’t it? Also, when a person has diabetes, there are some things of which more should be had and then, there are some whose consumption should be scaled back. So what exactly does a diet for a person who has diabetes look like?

Breakfast is said to be the most important meal of the day as it kicks off the metabolism for the day. Having a large breakfast is quite important so as to take care of the body, but this only makes sense if the food that is being eaten for breakfast is healthy enough. It is quite a good idea to have some porridge. While it is true that porridge is a carbohydrate-rich food item, what it also has is a great amount of soluble fibre. In fact, this sort of fibre takes some time to digest, so it reduces the pangs of hunger, which would have normally made a person eat unhealthy junk and fast food.

In a world of food that is processed, packaged and picked up from the supermarket, people are just not eating the correct amount of fruits and vegetables as they should. What is important to keep in mind is that vegetables are to be had in multiple portions on a daily basis, but these vegetables must be low in starch content. This means that for a person who has diabetes, vegetables which should not be eaten include potatoes, sweet potatoes, peas as well as corn.

On the other hand, the sort of vegetables which are to be eaten include broccoli and spinach. Spinach is also very good for increasing the level of haemoglobin in the blood. Also, making use of cinnamon extract is good as it has the potential to cut a person’s sugar levels by up to a tenth.

While it is not true that potatoes and other starchy foods should be completely avoided, a diabetic person should watch the amount of them that is being consumed by him or her. The reason for this is that starch-filled vegetables have high amounts of carbohydrates, which are generally responsible for raising the level of blood sugar. This is surely the last thing a diabetic person would want or need.

If you notice, strawberries have some sugar content, but they are a lot better than biscuits and other snacks. So in case a diabetic person wants to nibble on something, sweet fruits are always a better option. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a dietitian-nutritionist.

Dear lybrate user. Phimosis is a congenital narrowing of the opening of the foreskin so that it cannot be retracted. Phimosis is a very common problem. In most of the cases you can clear the problem yourself. Phimosis could cause moderate to severe pain while having vaginal intercourse. Apply oil on your foreskin and on the glans. Move the foreskin forward and back slowly without hurting you much. Because the oil is lubricant, it will be easier than without oil. Do this forward and back movement 20 times several times in a day. Repeat the same every day for around one month. You will get the elasticity and you will be able to retract the foreskin completely. In case if there is no result from the above massage, you can always go for a minor surgical procedure called circumcision. Take care.

Dear Lybrate User, Pimples/ Acne vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory skin disease which develops due to blocking of the hair follicles in skin. These blockages occur due to 4 abnormal processes: 1) Excess sebum production due to androgens 2) Excessive deposition of the protein keratin leading to comedone formation 3) Infection of Propionibacterium acnes (P. Acnes) bacteria on the hair follicles 4) Local release of pro-inflammatory chemicals in the skin. In order to stop the formation of pimples the aforesaid four causes should be terminated. Now the bitter truth is neither can you stop the overproduction of androgen or keratin protein nor can you stop the release of pro-inflammatory chemicals because all these processes takes place internally in your skin. However you can stop the accumulation of P. Acnes bacteria on your skin by preventing your skin from getting oily. Always keep a handkerchief with you whenever you go outside. You should wipe off the slightest amount of sweat from your face as soon as you perspire On entering your room from outside wash your face with an oil-free, non-moisturizing face wash. Take a low carbohydrate diet. Do some exercise daily. Drink a lots of water to avoid constipation. Avoid pricking the pimples or popping the sebum as it may lead to black pigmentation & permanent scar formation. You can also take Homoeopathic CALCAREA PHOS 200, 5 drops, thrice daily, in empty stomach Also you can apply Homoeopathic Mother Tincture BERBERIS AQUIFOLIUM Q on the dark spots on your skin which are produced after the resolution of the pimples. Kindly note that this medication may not be sufficient enough to take care of your problem. These medicines are based on the symptoms of your diseased condition & these medicines need to be complemented by further deep-acting remedies in order to permanently eliminate the underlying cause of the disease. So I would suggest you to consult me privately via Lybrate as it is very necessary to diagnose the proper underlying cause of your problem if you are wishing for a permanent relief from your problems. A permanent annihilation of the underlying cause of the disease will not only provide you relief from your troubles but it will also cease any chance of further relapse of that particular disease condition.

Hi. If you can follow some basic things then you will get better results in a short period of time, 1) drink only 100-150 ml of lukewarm water during meals, 2) don’t drink water before meal for one hour and one hour after meal, 3) avoid oily, spicy, junk, fermented and stale foods, 4) avoid late night sleeping habits, 5) avoid coffee and tea, A) take 30ml of BHRUNGARAJASAVAM and 30 ml of water and 1 TSF of jaggery after meals, B) apply equal quantity mixture of aloe vera juice and divya godhan ark of patanjali ayurveda in the roots of hairs. Leave it for 30-45 minutes After that wash hairs with ROOTZ SHAMPOO (rajah ayurveda) three times in a week, do all things for 30 days. These things are much more effective, avoid use of any shampoo and hair oil for 30 days THANKS.
