Dear lybrate-user, Tobacco is addictive. Cigarette also contains 4000+ carcinogenic chemicals other than nicotine. Nicotine and other chemicals can cause cancer of different types and areas. Throat cancer, mouth cancer, lung cancer, stomach cancer and brain problems can result. Over and above smoking may also increase the risk factor of heart attack and brain stroke. Please quit smoking. The best method is to leave it and continue with your will power. There are other methods like Nicotine Replacement therapy and pharmacotherapy combined. If you’re ready to stop smoking and willing to get the support you need, you can recover from nicotine addiction and abuse abuse—no matter how bad the addiction or how powerless you feel. The first step in treating nicotine addiction is accepting that you have a problem. Confronting an addiction and accepting responsibility for your actions isn’t easy. But it’s a necessary step on the road to treatment and recovery. You should then consult a psychiatrist / psychologist who fill follow this treatment. 1. Detoxification using medicines. 2. Behavior modification with the help of therapies. 3. Counseling. 4. Medication to sustain and 5. Long term support. These given steps are essential for any addict to get effectively rid of smoking. Therefore, you need to stick to the treatment plan and cooperate with your psychiatrist / psychologist. Mind power building therapy, motivational therapy etc should help you doing so. Take care.

My father was drinking alcohol from many more years. So we gave a crotonol 500mg tablet of 7 numbers. After that he is talking like mental upset. After that wat will happens. Please give me suggestion please.

BASM, MD, MS (Counseling & Psychotherapy), MSc - Psychology, Certificate in Clinical psychology of children and Young People, Certificate in Psychological First Aid, Certificate in Positive Psychology
Psychologist, Palakkad
Dear, this medication is used along with counseling and support to treat alcoholism. Crotonol (disulfiram) works by blocking the processing of alcohol in the body. This causes you to have a bad reaction when you drink alcohol. Drowsiness, tiredness, headache, acne, and metallic/garlic-like taste in the mouth may occur as your body gets used to the medication. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Your father is mentally upset because of the withdrawal symptoms and the effect of the medicine. Please consult the doctor who prescribed this medicine. Take care.

You are in some form of stress. Please identify the reason for that stress and work with a counselor to sort that out and your memory will happily return. With regard to memory, it is very important that your brain and body is rested well to be able to recall whatever is required, rather comfortably. So, catch a good 8 hours of sleep every night. Puzzles pose problems to the brain that help it to use new pathways and neurons, which give the brain considerable exercise. It taxes the left brain to use logic to solve the myriad possibilities which other activities do not stimulate. Crosswords are excellent for vocabulary learning and use. Jigsaws and rubik cube stimulate different permutations to finally settle on the most likely one. Picture completion and anagrams help approach problem solving from several angles. Do sudoku, and memory co-relation activities and skills. Have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber (whole grains, fruits and vegetables), nuts, avocado, eat dark chocolate, do yoga meditation exercises, etc. You need to check out, if you are stronger visual or auditory. The visual is a better mode than the auditory. However, if you combine the two modes, you will get the best concentration. Have a special place of learning, which should be well lit, with soft painted walls, well-ventilated, with no distractions. When you get bored, study by writing. If you repeat learning at least five to seven times, you will apparently remember for a longer time. Sit comfortably but do not slouch. The reading material should be of a fairly large print. Study at small intervals of about 40 minutes and then take a break or change the subject. Short-term memory is a faculty of the left brain, and long-term memory is a feature of the right brain. When people are stressed, they tend to favor the right brain and abandon the left brain, where short-term memory resides. So, it is really very simple: deal with the stress and activate left brain functions. Here are a few suggestions to activate left brain function: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. There are some memory enhancing techniques and study methods that your teacher will be able to guide you with. You may also meet with a counselor to take care of the stress related emotions, and then you will fare better too.

Sir have very poor brain power in study I forget what I learn soon so what I can do my learning power is very weak.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd

Your brain is fine. Poor learning is affected by other factors. You may be under some stress, and I do not know if you are aware of it. Find out what this disturbance is all about and as you address it, memory and concentration will happily return to favor you. Do meet with a counselor, if your stress is too much. In the meantime please follow the suggested guidelines: Daily exercise of at least half an hour is a must. Even if you go to a gym, ask for aerobic and/or callisthenic exercises with whatever else you are doing. A healthy body harbors a healthy mind. With regard to memory, it is very important that your brain and body is ideally rested to be able to recall whatever is required, rather comfortably. Have a good night?s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber (whole grains, fruits and vegetables), nuts, avocado, eat dark chocolate, consume less of fat and use olive oil instead, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. You need to check out if you are stronger visual or auditory. The visual is a better mode than the auditory. However, if you combine the two modes, you will get the best concentration. Short-term memory is a faculty of the left brain, and long-term memory is a feature of the right brain. Here are a few suggestions to activate left brain function: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. If your home life is full of distractions and stress, it is likely to affect your memory, adversely. In that case, I suggest that you and the family go for counseling too.

I can't get over my break up it's been a month n I cry every night. I feel I am getting into depression. What should I do?

I can't get over my break up it's been a month n I cry every night. I feel I am getting into depression. What should ...
Hello lybrate-user. It is a common phenomenon in this stage of life. Before going to fall for anyone you should know some of the things like, They won't be with you forever so use your time carefully. Do whatever you want but once you get out of it don't think about it again. A break up can be a turning point of an individual’s life. It’ll either rip you apart or you’ll emerge out of this storm, stronger than ever before. There’s no sugar coating the facts about how you feel, it is a difficult time and it will hurt and it’s alright to feel however you’re feeling, but you have to do whatever you can to not let this control your life. The points mentioned below aren’t perfect but give it a read it might help: If you're feeling depressed, it can be helpful to try some coping strategies. Reach out and stay connected: Talk to people who make you feel safe and make just don’t talk to them on phone or don’t just chat with them, meet them face to face and talk. Spend time with them. Find ways to support others: It’s nice to receive support, but research shows you get an even bigger mood boost from providing support yourself. Do things that make you feel good: In order to overcome depression, you have to do things that relax and energize you. Exercise: Wake up early and exercise, because exercise is not only good for your body but also for your mind. During depression, even getting out of bed seems difficult, but exercise is a powerful depression fighter. Research shows that regular exercise can be as effective as medication for relieving depression symptoms. It also helps prevent relapse once you’re well. Sleep well: During depression it’s common either to sleep too much or having problem of insomnia. Aim for eight hours of sleep. Eat healthy food: Try to stay away from junk food and eat healthy items. Don’t Skip a meal! Try to minimize your intake of sugar and refined carbohydrate. Boost your B vitamins. Deficiencies in B vitamins such as folic acid and B-12 can trigger depression. To get more, take a B-complex vitamin supplement or eat more citrus fruit, leafy greens, beans, chicken, and eggs. Get a daily dose of sunlight: Sunlight can help boost serotonin levels and improve your mood. Whenever possible, get outside during daylight hours and expose yourself to the sun. Aim for at least 15 minutes of sunlight a day. Remove sunglasses (but never stare directly at the sun) and use sunscreen as needed. Keep yourself occupied: Being busy is a way to prevent negative thoughts from going around your head repeatedly. For depressed persons, the first step is often the hardest, so making yourself do things can be a huge difference in your day and getting you started. If nothing of the above mentioned things help, please consult a therapist or psychiatrist. It’ll take time, but you will get out of depression. “Be strong, because things will get better. It may be stormy now, but it never rains forever”

It is a matter of appreciation as you care for stray Dogs. You seems to be deeply involved in this caring service therefore it is natural that these dogs and society's bad treatment towards them remains in your constant thoughts. And it flashes in your sleep. This is but natural and normal. But I would advise you to control your sensitivity. You are doing what you can do the best. Other things are not in your hands so you are helpless in this regard. Have satisfaction from what you are doing, forget about the ideal situation which will never happened.

I believe you should not be excessively concerned about residual urine unless it is more than 300 ml. If you fee like there is only" some" urine that comes our if you apply pressure after voiding is completed, you do not need medical help. The fact that you have a h/o multiple sclerosis since 2009 has nothing to do with your current problem. I hope this helps. Take care and have a lovely day!

Irritability and anger can be a manifestation of so many things ranging from uncontrolled stress, anxiety, depression and other psychiatric illness. It would be more appropriate if you come up with details of the change in behaviour of your father so that an appropriate diagnosis can be made and treatment suggested thereof.
